Special edition to honor area law enforcement, emergency personnel

Friday, August 22, 2003

As a way of saying thank you to area law enforcement agencies and first responders, the McCook Daily Gazette will publish a special edition in October titled, "Our Exceptional Heroes."

"Every day, brave men and women we know as our neighbors and friends put their lives on the line to protect us," said Gazette Marketing Director Butch Mires. "This is a way for us to honor them and the exceptional work they do."

The edition will include group photos of area departments and if possible a brief history and description of each department. We will be happy to publish special awards and honors individuals may have received.

Photos of these brave men and women on the job are also welcome.

The Gazette asks that agencies in its coverage area, including Dundy, Hayes, Hitchcock, Frontier, Furnas, Red Willow, and Chase Counties in Nebraska, and Decatur, Rawlins and Cheyenne Counties in Kansas, submit group photographs and a description of the duties, responsibilities, and motives of those serving in police and sheriff's departments, fire departments and ambulance personnel. Photos may be sent by e-mail to Gloria Masoner at cityed@ocsmccook.com or mail them to Gloria Masoner, McCook Daily Gazette, PO Box 1268, McCook, NE 69001.

Agencies that are unable to contribute a photo may call Masoner at (308) 345-4500 Ext. 118 and set up an appointment to have a picture taken and for more information.
