I admire your tenacity. You must be one of those folks who, having started a book, feel they MUST finish it to the bitter dying end.

I contend that just because a publisher was sufficiently deluded (or paid) to print a book, doesn't mean I have to finish it, if I consider it a waste of time. Since, in the end, time is all we have, and we seem to always run out of it, I don't really care to waste it on a book that warrants a D for "dufus".

I hope "Heaven is For Real" is on your list!

  • Actually, I agree with you, Boomer62. Normally, if I can put a book down, I will put it down. I kept praying that Louise Erdrich's book would turn up and save me from having to finish Love and Respect. When it didn't, I figured maybe it was a sign that my stubborn heart needed to read this one. I guess the message didn't take anyway. "Heaven is for Real" is definitely on my list, though after finishing Viktor Frankl's book, I may need some light fiction for a while.

I always felt like my mother was Superwoman! She not only worked, but her job was a demanding, high profile, semi-political position with awesome responsibilities....yet, she could hit the front door of our home at 5:45pm, and by 6:10 supper was on the table.

I respect and admire working mothers. (I mean working outside the home, 'cuzz all moms work) I only wish our economy was such that MOMS would actually have a real choice available to them to work outside the home or not.

Thanks for you article here. Enjoyed it!
