El Destructo

Posted Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at 12:16 PM

Who said you could be up here????
Do you remember El Kabong! The cartoon horse that played guitar and used it as a weapon... Kabong? Well from the name inspiriation of El Kabong I bring you El Destructo.

Not so long ago I mentioned we got a puppy. Puppies are cute for a good reason, so you don't kill them as they tear up your stuff. Our puppy isn't so much puppy in size anymore, but he certainly hasn't changed many of his puppy ways.

We named our pup Blaze, but Chewbaca might have been more appropriate. Keeping everything out of his mouth that shouldn't be there is Mission Impossible I swear! We've got a small fortune in dog toys it seems, but there is never enough stuff to keep him occupied. From the occasional chomp on the coffee table, to the stuff he smuggles in from outside, he always seems to find a way to get himself into trouble.

Now here is something I can at least fall back on for comfort...

Blaze is now 4 months old and 45 lbs. I read that the way most folks think of "dog years" is incorrect. I was under the belief that it's a 7 to 1 year ratio... Every human year equaled 7 dog years. According to the latest info I read, for the first two years of a dogs life, each month equals approximately one human year, then it's a 4 to 1 ratio. Sooooo, I figure I only have to put up with a couple more months of destructive behavior at most. Then he will be great for a month or so before I get to deal with my next phase... adolescence.

Look into those eyes, full of expectation,

Dark and deep, enough to lose a Nation,

The way that you deductulate,

You'll soon find out you err the rate.

Two years, are just to sharpen teeth,

To find great places to hide,

And grow to proportion beyond belief,

Properly saddled, you can ride.

About age four, when you're on your knees,

Praying he would grow up or go to sleep,

He'll lay his head on your lap and sneeze,

An adult dog, you now want to keep.

AMEN as you enjoy your memories.

I've found in my experience with the dogs that have owed me, they have a lot of puppy in them until at least five years. So good luck with that! But as difficult as they may be, their is a reason they are known as our best friends.
