Federal Spending

Posted Monday, July 25, 2011, at 10:00 PM

With our congressional gridlock, the following makes more and more sense every day...

Congressmen should wear uniforms, you know, like NASCAR drivers, so we could identify their corporate sponsors.

Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the White House in D.C. -- one from New Jersey, another from Tennessee and the third, from Florida.. They go with a White House official to examine the fence.

The Florida contractor, Jonathan, takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil. "Well", he says, "I figure the job will run about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit for me."

Cletus, the Tennessee contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $700: $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me."

Vito from Jersey doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the White House official and whispers, "$2,700".

The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?"

The New Jersey contractor whispers back, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and we hire the guy from Tennessee to fix the fence.

Done deal!

PERFECT!! No Muss, No Fuss, Tax-payer get a great deal, but now they want "10 million for me, 10 million for you," and they still hire the guy from Tennessee to do the job, but only pay him $550 (after mandatory fees, and taxes) to pay the $600 he has obligated.

Heh, Heh, I just deleted the last half of my blathering rant, so the gazette won't run out of memory space. Ha. Isn't National Insanity fun??

You got the corporate sponsor part correct!!

Why in the devil they can't agree to close tax loop holes that allow an outfit like GE to pay zero income tax is beyond me.

I do like the uniform suggestion, would show their true colors, not many of them would have anything on the uniform that indicated the citizens of their district or state!!
