Mumbo Jumbo

I saw a TV commercial a few years back for some law firm that has stuck with me ever since. Though I have no idea whatsoever what the name of the law firm was, the commercial is pretty fresh in my mind. How effective was that ad? Not very since I don't know the name of the law firm, but the theme of the ad is what I recall and want to share...

"Mumbo Jumbo" was nearly the only words said in the commercial... A courtroom setting with people saying "Mumbo Jumbo" back and forth, and the worst part is it made perfect sense to me.

I'm reminded of that commercial because of a recent court ruling. I keep up on land use issues as the rules and regulations written about public land use often impact motorized recreation which I am very fond of. A ruling by the United States Court of Appeals - Tenth Circuit will soon be in the news, and if you doubt it, here is a portion of the conclusion by the court...

"Today's decision will work untold mischief." "The majority grants it, and every other state and local government in the circuit--which for these purposes regrettably includes Yellowstone National Park, all of which lies within our jurisdiction--a green light to flout federal law." http://www.ca10.uscourts.gov/opinions/08...

If you bother to read the 31 page decision, you really begin to understand that the "mumbo jumbo" stuff is pretty important when deciding complicated legal issues. What this decision may do to public recreation and the knee-jerk legislative responses should be of interest to you since we ALL have a stake in public lands and its use.

My example of just one legal decision takes over 30 pages of "mumbo jumbo" to explain. How many laws, rules, regulations, decisions, quid pro quo's, provisos, et al are there?

How many laws does God have?

You figure it out.

At first,in this country, we had laws that guaranteed equal opportunity for all.

Then we had laws that guaranteed everyone free education, free food, free housing, and free medical care. No need to work for it. Because of this change the nation is doomed! That road has been tried and it never succeeds.

After that we got laws that impeded business success here so businesses started leaving the country. Telling us how much pay people, what benefits were required, what sort of people we had to hire, how we could use our assets (land included).

God has two laws. Love the Lord with all your heart and mind and strength. Love your neighbor as yourself.

Loving your neighbor does not mean you do for him that which he could do and should do for himself. Nor does it mean you attempt to bind him down with needless laws and regulation so he cannot succeed.
