Just Over Half A HamletPosted Saturday, September 25, 2010, at 8:57 AM
Not About This!
The article is about a "tiny town" and "remote hamlet" that has attracted a multi-national company to add 300 jobs. It's an interesting article, and I think folks in this area should be trying to do more around here to attract new types of business, but I digress. Online definitions: hamlet: a community of people smaller than a village village: a community of people smaller than a town town: an urban area with a fixed boundary that is smaller than a city city: Aw heck, we all know what a city is, but my point is that based on the author of the above cited articles dictionary, McCook would be just over half a hamlet since the "hamlet" he wrote about has over 15,000 folks living there. The real story though is about outsourcing jobs to rural America. If you read the story, there apparently is some backlash about jobs shipped overseas. About time! Aw come on Brian, there's no one wanting to move a tech company to McCook /sarcasm.
More like there's not enough people that want to go approach companies to come to McCook.
