Experience vs Rookie
Last night the farmer with the big taters stopped by to visit for a few minutes, and I spotted the bucket of tubers and couldn't help mentioning their size. He said he was surprised by the size of them too, and Margie chimed in that her potato starts came from the same batch, so she better check hers. You can see that the results are a bit different. OK, so I'm tellin' on my wife and her obvious lack of green thumbin' experience, but we laughed so hard last night with the comparison I had to share. Margie works pretty hard around the farm(stead) pulling weeds, watering, and trying to gain experience at green thumbing. This year was her first attempt at growing potatoes and you can see the result. There is nothing quite like hands on experience to instill confidence, and I have high hopes for Margies potato growing abilities going forward. I'm sure of this, she'll try hard to not have the smallest potatoes in the county year after year. |
