Waiting...Posted Thursday, May 27, 2010, at 7:01 AM
I received the following email that I want to share... Radio conversation overheard on the VHF Guard (emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz while flying from Europe to Dubai... Iranian Air Defense Site: 'Unknown aircraft you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.' Aircraft: 'This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace.' Air Defense Site: 'You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!' Aircraft: 'This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter. Send 'em up, I'll wait!' Air Defense Site: ( .... total silence) The above radio exchange shows there is just something about a "packin' US Marine that commands respect.
The radio exchange can't be verified and is of doubtful origin, but I liked it. Have a safe and fun weekend everyone! Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

When you have, know how to use, and will use, a big stick, hostile conversations usually are quiet and short.
Thanks, Brian, I liked the story too, even if it more than likely isn't real. I miss the good Old Days, where we had orders not to allow our ship or flag to be insulted (before Political Correctness invaded, and won).
To all those, who paid the price, or were crippled, my thanks, and respect. I am proud to have been allowed to serve with some of them.
A M E N !
and THANK YOU Arley
