Good Week!

My week always goes better when the Broncos win... How about them Broncos! In case you missed it, the Denver Broncos showed up again for a football game and beat the Patriots in overtime yesterday. That makes 'em 5 wins, 0 losses. Wow! I never expected that type of turnaround after the last couple years my Broncs had.

Additionally, if you missed it, the Broncos wore "throw back" uniforms that are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and the team liked them so well originally that they burned them on the 50 yard line way back when at Mile Hi Stadium. Not only were the colors not great, but those verticle stripped socks.... I'm still speechless.

The Patriots and the Broncos have a long and colorful history. The very first Americal Football League (AFL) game was played between the Patriots and Broncos... Broncos won that one too. Broncos have been whipped pretty bad a few times too though but I won't dwell on that!

One of my favorite memories of a Broncos Patriots game was tight end Shannon Sharpe of the Broncos being shown on national TV during a Bronco blowout of the Patriots picking up a field phone, calling the US President, and saying... "Mr President, you need to call out the National Guard because the Broncos are killing the Patriots".

On another note, today is Margie's birthday. I know I'm not supposed to tell how old for some reason, but for those that are SNL fans, she can "kick, stretch, and kick."

Happy birthday Foxy!

GO BRONCOS

Hey Slicker,

Back about '85, I was working out of a Greeley motel room, paying no attention to anything but 18 hour days.

Every time I hit the motel coffee shop, these two big construction type guys were shuffling papers in a big round corner booth. Made no difference, 5 a.m.,or 12 p.m., even the two noon-times I came back -- they were there.

Finally, on a Thursday night, my curious bug was buzzing too much. So I marched over and asked what kind of project required them to work 24/7.

The one guy laughs and sticks out a hand slightly smaller than Mile High Stadium.

"I'm John Hadl and we're the Broncos quarterback coaches. We're here preparing the one-hour teaching sessions for our rookie quarterback. Takes us about 6-8 hours to get ready for each hour teaching him before he does everything letter perfect. Then we spend an hour reviewing as much as possible of what we've taught. So far, he hasn't forgotten any of it."

Bronco fans,of course, know the rookie was Elway.

Most just considered him a big, strong-armed "natural," without realizing how powerful his brain was.

What I can't understand -- why discard Cutler for Orton?

That makes as much sense as the Packers squeezing Favre out so Aaron Rodgers could start.

Last Saturday, I suspect Packers' management had a few second thoughts.

Hank,

The broncos didn't discard Cutler... He discarded himself! He whined and cried like a little baby until they got rid of him.... the fact of the matter is Orton has us 5-0 and has played mistake free... Cutler threw 4 interceptions in his debut and more since then...

I would personally rather have a calm collected guy playing mistake free and winning rather than a crybaby that may have a good arm but throws too many pics and costs his team some games...

I could be wrong but that is my opinion
