A Picture Worth A Thousand Words
God went missing from Heaven, for six days. Eventually, on the seventh day, Michael the Archangel found him, resting.

He inquired, "Where have you been?"

God smiled deeply, and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds. "Look, Michael! Look what I've made."

Archangel Michael looked puzzled, and said, "What is it?"

"It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put life on it. I'm going to call it 'Earth' and it's going to be a place to test 'Balance'."

"Balance?" inquired Michael, "I'm still confused."

God explained, pointing to different parts of earth. "For example, northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth, while southern Europe is going to be poor. Over here I've placed a continent of white people, and over there is a continent of black people... Balance in all things."

God continued pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot, while this one will be very cold and covered in ice."

The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to a land area and said, "What's that one?"

"That's Washington State, the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful mountains, rivers and streams, lakes, forests, hills, and plains The people from Washington State are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent, and humorous, and they are going to travel the world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking, high achieving, carriers of peace, and producers of software."

Michael gazed in wonder and admiration, but then asked, "But what about Balance, Lord? You said there would be Balance."

God smiled and said, "Oh, there's also another Washington. Wait till you see what happens there!"

Hey Slicker,

Will Rogers said it real well back about 1925.

"Every time Congress passes a law,

it becomes a joke.

'n that wouldn't be so bad, 'ceptin' every time some Congressman tells a joke, it becomes law!"

REALITY -- We get the kind of elected officials we deserve. When the people put time, energy, effort and intelligent consideration into selecting and voting for their future office holders, they can come up with some incredibly good people.

Yesterday, as one conservative "X-Spurt" admitted, President Obama spoke for one hour at Cairo University.

I'll try to quote the "X-Spurt" exactly,

"He addressed all of the subjects previously considered off limits for U.S. officials to speak of publicly in the Middle East.

"He tackled the Eight issues which are critical to the region, but are never spoken of publicly.

"And he did as much as could be done in one speech to restore American prestige in that region.

"It is obvious, his direct, brutally honest approach has worked."

Having worked in Washington, D.C. and in Washington state -- I can testify that in D.C. you hope to find ten per cent of the elected people who deserve your complete trust.

The vast majority are in a phase of "Don't make waves" and a very small percentage are just trying to line the pockets of their friends, who will "take care of me."

North Carolina now has a U.S. Senator who routinely puts a pinch of "dip" behind his lower lip and sits down for serious discussions with a spit cup. (He comes from Winston-Salem, home of Reynolds Tobacco.

Yet, forty years ago, Virginia's "Hillbillies" elected Republican Richard Poff. The Senator Harry Bird Machine democrats who fought him became Republicans within five years of Dick Poff's election and the DixieCrat "New Republicans" have dominated the GOP since.

Be it the local city hall, courthouse, the state capitol or Washington, D.C. we get what we deserve as a people.

Our neglect has made the nation's capitol which grew from a swamp -- directing it into the swamp of political confusion.
