Dedicated Follower? Not Me!

Folks that know me know that I'm not exactly a dedicated follower of fashion. Getting dressed up is not my idea of fun in any stretch of the imagination. I'd much rather clean the yard up after my dog has done his thing than go shopping, especially for clothes. Give me a pair of work boots, blue jeans, a shirt, and of course my "stylish" hat, and I'm good to go.

So why would I bring up such a topic for todays blog? Well, the Academy Awards were on the other night, and though I don't watch award shows, the Internet has been filled with reviews of the stars attire, and an accompanying article about clothing styles caught my eye for some reason so here ya go...

The hatted lady in the above picture... I just don't get it. Now I know that I'm a city slicker, and a hat like that would only be worn in the city, but come on... a handbag for a hat? With stuff like that I'd think Nebraskans could come up with some better ideas and perhaps we could become the hatters for the world. Heck, a whole new culture of style conciousness might just emerge.

As Nebraska residents, perhaps we should be pushing the corn skull caps worn at Husker games? We could make them a bit nicer and certainly more expensive than molded foam or plastic or whatever they are made of. Why not use real corn and cobs and sell the creation as a green product alternative. Heck, we could even give it a fancy name like... Ethanol On The Cob or some such marketing researched term.

So now that you looked at the hottest style trends, you can see just one the many reasons we moved to the farm(stead). To those style concious folks out there, and I know some of you are, no insult is intended. It's just this city slickers take on some of the high fashion offerings out there.
