Strange And MysteriousPosted Friday, February 20, 2009, at 11:14 AM
It has bothered me so much that I've considered dropping out of the Gazette blogsphere more than once because I can't seem to get past the way things have gone downhill in my view, and for whatever reason I can't seem to ignore them. I reasoned if I didn't blog here, I would skip visiting the Gazette web site and thus avoid my discomfort.
So with that in mind, here is the rest of the story...
I was visiting Colorado Territory this morning via the Denver Post web site when the following headline caught my eye...
"Lutherans to weigh recognition for gays", and you can read the original article at http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/c...
What I found most interesting about the article was the comments that followed, where scripture was quoted and the followup comment about the scripture quoted. What the comments presented did was send me to the Bible to check out for myself what the Word actually said without someone I don't know adding their take on it.
I guess the strange and mysterious part is what I ended up reading that will keep me here, and I hope blogging happily along...
Here is the passage that was "highlighted" to me...
"Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful."
Now to be fair, I took the above out of the total context of the scripture, so I encourage belivers and non to read the entire passage at... http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?boo...
I for one will at least try to stay out of the heated discussions and not let them influence me in the negative way they have. I was pointed to something important for me today, but only believers likely understand the feeling gotten from Divine Intervention, but it was there for me.
One of the great things about the USA is our freedom of speech and to say and believe what we wish, so your mileage may vary.
