Why Tuesday?

Maybe you folks know why we vote on a November Tuesday, but I didn't so I checked it out and it turns out it's because of farmers. Yep, our old agricultural society forced the issue as Congress thought that harvest would be over and they chose Tuesday to avoid peoples religious beliefs.

Over 150 years ago, travel to polling places wasn't exactly the easiest thing to do. Horse and buggy travel for remote farmers to their polling place could easily take a whole day. Congress decided that Tuesday would work because people could travel on Monday, thus allowing the Sunday day of rest so many believe in to vote on Tuesday, and then travel home on Wednesday.

So this is the day... GO VOTE!!!!
