Really? Opening Weekend of $142 million?
I just can't seem to wrap my mind around why a book that is so terribly written, a movie that is terribly made (not to mention BORING), actors that CANNOT ACT and a bit of sex appeal involving vampires and werewolves is that exciting, especially to young girls. When did young girls start liking vampires and werewolves? What happened to 'girl' things? Seriously? I just don't get it. In other news -- Thanksgiving is tomorrow -- I'm excited to not work although I probably will. Game On opens at 6am Friday morning for the Black Friday rush. I'm excited for the sale -- not the waking up before 6am. Divine Productions just finished up a video for the Community Hospital Health Foundation that they showed at the annual fundraiser. It was a great experience putting together a video about Hospice as I was really able to learn all about the program and how it makes a huge difference to people. I'm so glad the community was able to step up and raise a bunch of funds to keep this amazing program running. I just recently donated one of my buildings I have for rent to a fellow who is going to play Santa Claus for the little ones. I believe he will be open the Saturday after Thanksgiving in the building at 218 West 1st Street. Don't quote me on times as I'm really not sure, but be watching for it if you want to take your kids to see Santa Claus. And you won't be dissappointed! He does a great job and has decorated the place exquisitely. Speaking of Santa Claus, Divine Productions will be having a Quick Takes day with Santa Claus on December 14th if you want some pictures with Santa. With that -- have a great Thanksgiving! I haven't finish the 3rd book. but once im done reading all the books, well, im planning to use it as my essay topic
You also forgot to mention the TWIHARD MOMZ too. I cannot stand the twilight craze...it's just ridiculous.
Cody,
It is a girl thing. LOL LOL
If you take the vampire/werewolf labels out, it is a romantic fantasy.
You have girl meets boy. Boy and girl fall for each other. Boy is bad for girl and he knows it. He tried to break it off. Girl gets her heart broken. Friend helps her mend her heart. Boy comes back into the picture. Friend complicates the story. Girl loves boy so much she would give her life for boy despite all the sacrifices required. Friend gets his heart broken.
Romance, romance, romance. My friend, it is a girl thing and nope, you don't have to understand it. Because the guys in my life don't get it either. It is okay not to get it. But someone is laughing all the way to the bank, so to speak.
The one thing I will give you is the acting is not academy award caliber but I seriously doubt the Twilight diehards are reflecting on the acting. Might just be the eye candy on the screen. And the romance, romance, romance. Sigh.... it is what most girls, young or old, dream about. They can all relate to the dream of a knight in shining armor - or in this case - sparkly-in-the-daylight armor.
Bring on Eclipse and New Dawn.

Oh Betsy - I can see the romance and I can see the fantasy. I can't much see past the stupidity. I have to say that I'm pretty open minded when it comes to movies and I like my fair share of romantic flicks, but when they are reduced to such ridiculousness - it is hard to imagine why people get so crazy about it.
One good thing to come out of this is the abundant parodies online like this excellent one from G4TV (does have some voilence for younger ones) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lu_PY405f...
I'm afraid I can't understand Twilight even from a romantic perspective. Bella seems to be this super-perfect little b-word, except she has "blonde girl in a horror movie" syndrome and can't live without a man, and Edward is a creepy, controlling, manipulative little a-word who has whatever superpower is convenient at the time. Why Lifetime hasn't openly boycotted this series, I'll never know.
Of course, I agree completely with Cody on the stupidity of the series. Perhaps the most annoying example to me is when Bella, who had previously JUMPED OFF A CLIFF so she could hear her one true love bossing her around in her head, and had also wanted to give up her immortal soul to be an X-Man-err I mean vampire and have sex with her one true love forever, balks at the idea of marrying her one true love. I've seen cartoons on Comedy Central with more intelligent writing than this.
Then again, I guess the youth of America have a deep affection with crap that I'll never understand. That's the only explanation for why the Wayans are still allowed to make movies.
I can't begin to explain my laughter at your last comment bjo! The Wayans make some pretty horrible stuff.
