Fast & Furious, Miss March, and Dragonball EvolutionPosted Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at 12:21 PM
A somewhat good week for movies at Movie Gallery!
Fast & Furious The big release this week is the newest installment in the Fast & the Furious Franchise. This one brings back all the stars of the first one and manages to pull of a pretty decent 'revival.' At least fans thought so, by buying tickets up quickly and making this a solid box office hit. I reviewed it in theatres and you can check out the original review at http://www.mccookgazette.com/story/15271....
Miss March This was a weird movie set up at Fox by two 'unknown' directors, actors, and writers. The two people are the founders of a comedy troupe much like Broken Lizard or Monty Python. They set up this new flick idea at Fox and were given the opportunity to not only first time write and direct but star in it. I don't know how that happened, but sign me up! I want to make my own movie produced by a major motion picture company. Anyways, the movie was predictable, acting was not 'polished', not really that funny, and lacked a plot worth watching. I wouldn't really recommend it.
Dragonball Evolution Surprisingly, this was good! My only thought going into this movie was that it would be terrible, but it actually was pretty decent. I don't know anything about Dragonball the animated show or the graphic novel, so I can't comment on how close it is to the original source, but the movie itself was somewhat entertaining and kept me watching and getting involved in the plot. The acting was pretty bad, but I think part of it was trying to stick with the animated show's voice acting which from what I've seen is pretty wild. Overall, this is a semi-decent film that surprised the heck out of me, so give it a shot - you might end up liking this one.
That's it for this week and as we start to see the end of summer blockbuster films at the movie theatre, we are starting to see some of those blockbusters show up on DVD. Next week, we've got a great family flick in Race to Witch Mountain - even if it deals with aliens. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

You should really watch the animated series before you go making wild claims like, "it actually was pretty decent." It was a disgrace.
