Revolutionary Road & He's Just Not That Into YouPosted Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at 12:07 PM
Revolutionary Road
This is a flick starring Leonardo Dicaprio & Kate Winslet and a lot of them talking to each other. The film didn't do particularly well at the box office or with critics and I can see why. This is an excellently directed and acted film if you can get over being bored the entire time. The acting is something to marvel at - but never really makes you interested in what's going on - just how good they are at doing what it is that they are doing. I really enjoyed watching Leo and Kate fight on screen - it was almost 'magical' but not enough to make a movie. The film tried to comment on higher ideals but somehow it just got lost. It took me three nights to watch this almost 2 hour movie as I got bored or tired and just didn't feel like watching anymore. I did get all the way through it and glad I did - the ending is the most surprising part and while not the most pleasant or interesting - at least it jolts the movie into something that keeps you glued to the screen for awhile. Overall, the flick was decent - just boring. He's Just Not That Into You This is a 'chick' flick and while I try not to use those words very often when describing movies. I just couldn't find a better way to put this movie. I was not impressed with the film and can't really recommend it. It wasn't as boring as Revolutionary Road, but I'd still rather drudge through Revolutionary Road again than watch this insanely crazy movie about random people that are all sort of connected but not really. Another flick (Defiance) came out this week, but I failed to watch it. Next week - we've got more entertaining stuff in Fired Up and Gran Torino. |
