Slumdog, Marley, and Seven Pounds

Marley and Me

I really didn't want to watch this. I avoided it in theatres and only decided to watch it because my 3-year old daughter wanted to see the puppy. Of course, after watching about 10 minutes of it, she wanted to watch something else like Dora the Explorer. Now, Dora is alright, but watching it over and over just makes you a bit crazy yelling 'WE DID IT!' after accomplishing anything. I find myself getting something to drink and after opening the can, singing the 'WE DID IT' song. Anyways, this review is on Marley and Me, not Dora. So, faced with watching Dora or Marley and Me, I opted to finish Marley and Me. I can honestly say it surprised me. I enjoyed the movie.

It has a neat storyline and although nothing too amazing, it was fun to follow along with. There are some nice touches of humor and wonderful attempts at pulling on the heartstrings. I am not a dog person, so I wasn't exactly breaking down at parts of the flick - but I can see how a lot of people would be. Overall, I have to recommend this film to just about everyone as it truly is a decent little flick.

Seven Pounds

Weird movie. Interesting movie. Confusing movie. Kind of boring movie. Will Smith is Excellent in it. I capitalized excellent to make a point. Seven Pounds is a dramatic story starring Will Smith as a guy who is running around doing things and helping people as an IRS agent and you don't quite know why or how till the end. His brother is an intriguing part of the mystery as is one of his friends. It is remarkably slow moving, but interesting. Not a great movie, but probably worth watching as it's better than most of the garbage out there.

Slumdog Millionaire

Reviewed it in theatres and loved it. Still love it. Great flick. Check out the original review at http://www.mccookgazette.com/story/15069....

That's it for this week. Next week is Doubt and Yes Man.

I have yet to see Marley & Me. As a dog lover, I was interested in it, but after my mother said that the ending ruined it for her, I haven't bothered.
