TWILIGHT - PUNISHERPosted Monday, March 16, 2009, at 11:07 AM
Slow week for new releases. Only two coming out and one is terrible. You can guess which one that is.
TWILIGHT A movie based on a book dealing with vampires, werewolves, and love. I watched it in theatres and you can find that review at http://www.mccookgazette.com/story/14806.... At the time, I was slightly impressed with it, but after watching it a second time on DVD, I found myself extremely bored with it. I don't think this is the type of flick you can watch over and over again, as it loses its appeal on the first repeat viewing. It's still worth a shot if you've never seen it before and I'm sure the 'obsessed' fans will rush out to get a copy as soon as possible, but be warned if you only just enjoyed it the first time - you'll probably not like it the second time.
Punisher: War Zone This is the sequel or reboot or whatever to the other Punisher flick that had John Travolta in it. Did I watch the movie? No. Should I have watched the movie for this review? Probably. This movie did horribly in theatres, got terrible reviews, and is based on a guy that never interested me in comic book form. So, I skipped it. Are you interested in it? If so, here's the description. Waging his one-man war on the world of organized crime, ruthless vigilante-hero Frank Castle sets his sights on overeager mob boss Billy Russoti. After Russoti is left horribly disfigured by Castle, he sets out for vengeance under his new alias: Jigsaw. With the "Punisher Task Force" hot on his trail and the FBI unable to take Jigsaw in, Frank must stand up to the formidable army that Jigsaw has recruited before more of his evil deeds go unpunished. That's the movie, if you watch it, let us know what you thought in the comments.
There are a few other minor releases today like Elegy and The Velveteen Rabbit. Next week, we've got BOLT and the new James Bond Quantum of Solace. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Wasn't too interested in watching the Punisher sequel, since (once again) the actor who created the role isn't in it (and I'm not talking about Dolph, either). I may decide to watch Twilight sometime down the road, it's nice to know it's worth watching at least once.
I'm really looking forward to Quantum of Solace. I think Daniel Craig makes a good Bond, despite all the hubbub when he was first chosen for the role.
I can't say I'm too interested in Twilight. I don't have an issue with vampire flicks, kinda eh about romance movies- teenage or otherwise- but I can't stand both of them together. I prefer a kind of Stockholm syndrome-style romance between vampires and vixens, not "omg he's so hawt" romance. Though I could be wrong, and the first movie has more depth than what I'd first assume.
