The Dark Knight, Horton Hears a WhoPosted Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at 10:58 AM
Another week, another non-winner - all of those who commented this week have been loyal commenter's and have already won in the past month, and you can only win once per month - so for all those people waiting in the wings, now is the time - comment and win!
Most movie studios avoided this weekend for releasing new films due to THE DARK KNIGHT - largely seen as a huge contender for best selling DVD of all time - there really is not many reasons to compete with it. One brave little flick decided to and mainly because it sucks anyways.
THE DARK KNIGHT
What can I say? I pre-ordered it as soon as it had an announced release date and have been looking forward to it ever since. I watched it again, I loved it again, and I can't recommend it anymore. Check out the original review at http://www.mccookgazette.com/story/14459....
Horton Hears a Who
This has some decent star power with Jim Carrey and Steve Carrell taking on the two main characters and excellent source material with Dr. Seuss, but the movie ends up being more than a tad boring with little for the main characters to actually do. Thus, there are obvious decisions by the filmmakers to split from the original Seuss material and add a few, even raunchy jokes. A shameless ploy at making the film enjoyable by adults as well as children. All together the animation was good, the acting was decent for what it is, and the story was meant to be told in 5 minutes by reading a 20 page book - making the over an hour movie just plain boring for everything but 5 minutes. This one is best served to the kids who will eat up the shiny animation and crazy characters without caring what exactly they are up to.
That's it for this week. Next week - musical time.
By the way - nobody guessed the 'question of the week' correctly either.
