Fred Claus, Hancock, Meet Dave, Space ChimpsPosted Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at 1:13 PM
Another week, another prize! This time we have a winner of a free movie rental at Movie Gallery in McCook and that is commenter cmg003. To claim your prize, just email me at mccookgazette@gmail.com with your real name and phone number.
Now - the movie reviews!
Hancock One of my most highly anticipated flicks to show up on DVD this Christmas season and it did not disappoint. The unrated version has a few extra scenes and one at the beginning that was cut for obvious reasons as well as being stupid and awkward. You'll know what scene I'm talking about as soon as you watch the unrated version. For a full review of Hancock, check out my theatrical review at http://www.mccookgazette.com/story/14421....
Fred Claus Another flick I reviewed in theatres last year and after watching on DVD, I am even more bored with it than I was in theatres. I change my opinion a bit as this is not a film to watch again. Check out the original review at http://www.mccookgazette.com/story/12903....
There are two other movies released this week - Space Chimps and Meet Dave. Meet Dave is the latest Eddie Murphy movie where he plays more than one role - let me sum this review up in two words - STAY AWAY. To elaborate - DON'T RENT THIS GARBAGE. Space Chimps is not much better however I would rent it any day over Meet Dave. Space Chimps is exactly what the title describes - Chimps go into space. Meet Dave is the story of an alien race that arrives on Earth in a spaceship that looks like a human and not just any human - Eddie Murphy. Tantalizing.
So, that's it for this week. Thanks for those who continue to comment and the few new people we have each week - remember, someone will win a Movie Gallery rental for just voicing your opinion and we all know that isn't hard to do. Hancock was good. Watched it in the theater and will likely rent it as I liked it enough to watch it more than once. I will say that after reading Cody's original review before going to see the flick, I've changed my approach to his reviews and read the end so as not to either build up or let down my own feelings about the movie based on his review. He is right on... I just want to form my own opinion aferward instead.
