Semi-Pro, Meet the Spartans, and Mama's Boy

Posted Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at 11:50 AM

Well, last week, Maskedrose commented on my reviews in that I hardly watched any of them due to an extremely busy week. Thus, I posted a general synopsis of each one. This week, I watched a few....or did I.

Well, I watched it in theaters and enjoyed it. Watched the unrated version on DVD and still enjoyed it. It wasn't Will Ferrell's best, but still worth a rental. Check out the original review at http://www.mccookgazette.com/story/13154....

Meet the Spartan's

I managed to find time to watch this random piece of garbage. My words would be more harsh but this is the Gazette's website. I have never liked any of the 'Scary Movies,' 'Date Movie,' 'Epic Movie,' or any of the others of its kind. Thus, I watched this one knowing I would hate it. Guess what? I came out still hating it. These movies are relatively the worst thing going in Hollywood and I have no idea how they do so good at the box office. If you are one of those people who like these type of flicks, this is more of the same tasteless crap and you'll probably like it. If you have never liked the previous movies, I can save you the trouble, it's still not good.

Mama's Boy

I didn't watch this one, mainly because Movie Gallery did not get a copy in advance for me to view. So, here's the synopsis: Eccentric Jeffrey Mannus is 29 years old and still lives at home with his mom, Jan. He sees no reason to alter this arrangement, but his perfect world is upended when Jan meets Mert, a motivational speaker. Mert successfully woos Jan and moves in on Jeffrey's territory, something Jeffrey will not tolerate. Jeffrey enlists the aid of an unlikely ally, an aspiring singer-songwriter, Nora, with an anti-establishment penchant and a soft spot for him. As the war between Mert and Jeffrey escalates, something unprecedented happens -- slowly, to both his own surprise and horror, Jeffrey discovers his inner adult.

So, hope you enjoy the reviews this time maskedrose or should I say WC. Check them all out at Movie Gallery in McCook!
