Rambo and a few others...Posted Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at 11:42 AM
So this week is a bit bland on new releases at the local Movie Gallery. Good news is the theatre is chock full of great new releases like Indiana Jones.
Rambo In the long awaited sequel to the first 3 Rambo flicks, Sylvester Stallone reprises the title role to kick some more butt. Rambo is older but still up to the same old tricks. The next chapter finds Rambo recruited by missionaries to protect them during a humanitarian aid effort on behalf of the persecuted Karen people of Burma. After the missionaries are taken prisoner by Burmese soldiers, Rambo gets a second impossible job: rescue the missionaries in the midst of a civil war. Overall, Rambo is a decent flick as it compares roughly to the old Rambo movies. This is a definite Rated R flick as it has strong graphic bloody violence, sexual assaults, grisly images and language throughout. Cleaner Didn't have a chance to watch it so here's a synopsis: Single father and former cop Tom Carver (Samuel L. Jackson) has an unusual vocation--he cleans up crime scenes. But when he's called in to sterilize a wealthy suburban residence after a brutal shooting, Carver is shocked to learn he may have unknowingly erased crucial evidence, entangling himself in a dirty criminal cover up. Grace is Gone Didn't have a chance to watch this Golden Globe Nominated pic. The following is a synopsis: A husband whose wife has just been killed in Iraq doesn't have the courage to tell his two young daughters that their mother has died, so instead he decides to take them on a road trip, not to just make it easier on the girls but to make it easier for himself. That's it for this week. Next week, we get a few bigger titles, but the DVD releases will continue to be sparse on hits throughout the summer months.
