Untraceable Mad Money

New Movie Releases!!!

Sorry, but there isn't much releasing on DVD these days because of the huge blockbuster movies being released in theaters on a weekly basis. Last week was Iron Man, this week is Speed Racer, and the next couple weeks see the new Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, and the new Indiana Jones. Considerably, DVD releases are taking a backseat in the minds of the studios hoping to cash in on another big movie.

Anyways, on with DVD's this week.

First up, Mad Money.

Mad Money is the bank heist comedy starring Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah, and Katie Holmes. The three women all work at the federal reserve and out of different circumstances form a plan and a friendship to rob the bank of the old money being destroyed. It's an interesting setup and plan with very capable actresses anchoring the main roles, but somehow manages to be more than a bit tedious to watch. I was quite stricken with the get up and do something disease during the flick and often found myself 'getting up' and 'doing something' only to come back and watch some more. The entire movie was alright and had some good moments, thought it was a bit slow getting around to it. If this had some better pacing and gave the three main actresses a bit more to do, the film would have been pretty decent. But, as it stands, it feels a bit slow and awkward as if it was never properly put together. It's still the best movie of the week, so give it a shot unless you need to catch up on some of the other flicks released in the past couple weeks.

Untraceable

I didn't watch it as it got terrible reviews, sank at the box office, and I didn't have time to deal with it being Graduation week. So, what follows is the synopsis. Within the FBI there exits a division dedicated to investigating and prosecuting criminals on the internet. Welcome to the front lines of the war on cybercrime, where Special Agent Jennifer Marsh (Diane Lane) and Griffin Dowd (Colin Hanks) have seen it all...until now. A tech-savvy internet predator is displaying his graphic murders on his own website and the fate of each of his tormented captives is left in the hands of the public: the more hits the site gets, the faster his victims die. When this game of cat and mouse becomes personal, Marsh and her team must race against the clock to track down this technical mastermind who is virtually untraceable.

Sounds amazing.....ly bad. I could be completely wrong and I welcome the opinions of those who check it out at the local Movie Gallery.

Everything releases Tuesday at the Gallery. Check 'em out.
