  • I've missed your blog! Great advice to people looking for a dog and those who already have one or two or . . . .three.....

  • There are several sites that can help you select a breed that suits you and your lifestyle. This is the one I tried: http://www.selectsmart.com/dog/

What were my top 5 breeds? Mutt, Wire haired Pointing Griffon, and several spaniels (guess it didn't keep my results). I've never had a pointing griffon but I do see one once in a while. I'd only thought about spaniels last week and here they are on my list.

  • Great blog, Amy! We read Cesar Milan's book when we got our puppy Dash, and it was a great help. We still struggle with him straining at the leash to get him to walk beside us, because we've been inconsistent about walking him in the winter. After a few minutes, though, he gets it. Also, we're guilty of letting him leap into our arms. He's a malti-poo and we thought it was cute, but it's not so cute when he jumps on an unsuspecting guest. Our compromise is that now we've trained him to wait until the command (a clap) to jump into our arms. That's probably still not Cesar Milan approved, but we find it irrisistably cute. Darn small dogs! :)
