Chiding Myself
Chiding Myself
By Arley Steinhour 112012
An email I received and forwarded, about a photo, and me:
Thanks, Rich.
When I saw the photo, my mind said:
'That sure looks like home,'
Sure enough, it's 'Home Town,' for me,
Called 'Cookie-Town,' when CB' roamed.
The photo, drove me into a dither,
To figure out, from whence it came,
I worked hard with my photo shop,
But, couldn't quite read the name.
The car, I thought, I'd seen before,
The Plate, brought it closer to life,
The 'State' was smudged, unreadable,
I almost surrendered to the strife.
Then, the truck in the background,
Gave a hint as to where it be,
I went to the Yellow pages, and found,
That 'Local Yokel' company.
North Platte is where that came from,
A meager Seventy miles, of Northward brace,
The 'Forty -- Eight' on car plate informed,
Red Willow, NEBRASKA, might be the place.
Proudly, oh so proudly, I crowed,
I'd figured the whole thing out,
then I read my friends description,
His words, describing, cleared all doubt.
I should-a-read, then reasoned.....Ha
To you, friend Rich, I thank you,
Someone will eat well from the herds.
You could do me a tiny favor though,
Next time write with bigger words.
(I jest-might-see-um, before wondering too far):
Use your imagination, folks. I must have spent thirty
minutes, playing 'photo-shop,' trying to read the
'State,' on the 'Plate,' when all I needed do,
was munch upon his words.
Keep the Watch, cause, I think I'm blind, or at least dimly lit.
Arley
(Boy, that was fun)
