Ode to the FlyPosted Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 11:51 AM
Fan the air, the fly don't care,
When it's in love, with your face, Vacationing high, up in your hair, You are its favorite 'landing place.'
Ode to the Fly
Shoo fly, don't bother me,
Making speech to the whole country,
Shoo fly, don't bother me,
Beelzebub, King of the fly,
Shoo fly, don't bother me,
Laugh at me, you prejudice,
Shoo fly, don't bother me, amen Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

What is the problem Arley, have you run out of words that rhyme with Socialism?
How cunning of you to pick a song in which the original lyrics are no longer used due to their offensive racist overtones.

Is this an example of Christian values, Conservative values, or both?
Now, ain't that just something?? I learned that song, but not with those lyrics, didn't even know these lyrics existed. Hmmm, How did you know??
When I was young, we sang something, but the only thing that stuck in my mind is the chorus, and the notes. I could give you my history, behind this tune, and why it came to mind, but frankly, Geezer, it isn't any of your business, and if you don't like my offering, the way I intended, then please don't read the offering, and you won't be offended (as soon as it was obvious it would offend you, that is).
Should the Editor wish me to remove this ""offensive"" offering, Editor will, or I will.
Now that I've seen the original words, from this point on (presuming I remember), I will never again put lyrics to that melody, just so you can rest well, if nothing else.
Anything else?? ... Hmmm, I think you made me angry ... I'm much better now. (^8
Arley I still think it's funny! ....Maybe I'm too dumb to be offended by it.
i dont think this geezer is the same one who used to respond with courteous dissent

Courtesy is a two way street. If Arley expects courteous dissent of his articles, he should present them in a courteous manner.
guess i'll have to read more of Arley's poetry; ashamed to admit that i have mostly just read the titles and they seemed benign. but geezer, i have read most of (maybe all?) of your dissent and you have more than generally been very courteous. and i feel that you present your opinion in thoughtful, reasoned responses.
Geezer's response wasn't particularly generous (not that it should have been), but it wasn't very discourteous either.
It is an awfully strange coincidence that a racist old Spanish-American War song is the vehicle Arley chose to convey the ignorant and played out theme that Obama is the "king" of the county.
