The Lion of Judah soon comes to Rule
Those who resist him, destroyed One thousand Years, Iron Rod Law His Tool Satan locked down deep, in the Void. By Arley Steinhour 122612
It's not birth that was your plan
You came down to earth, that day
You came down from Heaven
You were born and circumcised
You experienced Mortality, just as we do
You're not just a god, way up in the sky
You took our place upon the cross
Father God, Merry Christmas, to you AMEN Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Actually, it is highly unlikely that December 25th was actually Jesus's birthday. Most historians put the actual date in September and October. Romans selected the 25th as a way to compete with pagan solstice feasts and celebrations like the Saturnalia.
Not that that diminishes the day necessarily, but it is interesting that most people believe Jesus was actually born on the 25th.
I hope you had a Happy Holiday, Benevolus, I know I had a grand time with my Merry Christmas.
I agree with your offering, about when Jesus was born. The only accurate method of knowing is to locate the times of year Zacharias, of the course of Abia, and the Feast of God closest to that, to be able to add between six to seven Lunar months to that to have an idea about when Mary became 'with child.' There is no information about exactly when Elizabeth became pregnant, but it would need be about a month after Zacharias completed his course of Temple duty, and know which Feast, requires the burning of Incense, to facilitate the final blessing on the Congregation in the Temple compound/Israel. It all, very well, collates to Jesus being born, either on Yom Teruah, Tishri One (Day of Great Noise/Trumpets), or Day one of Sukkot, Feast of Tabernacles, with circumcision on the eighth day, the day after the last day of Sukkot, a special Feast day, which adds an eighth day to make the Sukkot Feast more an eight day Celebration, which would coencide with the circumcision.....yadda yadda.... without doing a complete teaching, which I am not that versed in doing, I believe you know the Bible well enough to see the picture. John the Baptizer was distant cousin to Jesus, as Elizabeth was Mary's Maternal Aunt.
I know what you mean about most people believing Jesus was Born on December 25, not realizing the Gregorian calendar wouldn't be invented/calculated for many more Centuries, and I deductulate that Chanukah was unacceptable to the Greek, so to convert more, they used an existing holiday. Why not, God owns all the days, anyway. It isn't as if He was stealing something the false religions owned.... or something like that. Ha.
You have a fine New Years transition, if our world governments allow that. Excellent point of discussion, thanks.
