My mom loved Christmas. Our Christmas tree usually went up the day after Thanksgiving. We'd watch football games and decorate the tree, it was a wonderful time as a kid.
I can remember Mom always talked about Hope at Christmas time. Christ's birth was true hope for men and women dealing with this thing called life.
Many times I have pondered why Christ spent no time at all discussing the current political situations at the time. Certainly there were atrocities going on, wrongs that needed to be righted, victims of injustice or cruelty all about.
And yet Christ talked about the Hope of a Savior, where men and women could truly be free. I have come to understand that only through the heart of each man and woman can a town, a State, or a Nation, can rise or fall.
The Jews of Christ's time were looking for a warrior, someone to lead the Jewish nation into battle and throw the Romans out of their country, and restore Israels great name in the world.
And here came the Christ, and he spoke about the hearts of men. He talked about sins. He spoke about dealing with our sinful nature, and they killed him for it. People don't really want to talk about sin, I sure don't want to talk about mine.
All I can say is that the Hope of a better future for each life, each town, each State and Nation is real when God lives within the hearts of those citizens.
Sure, I'll fight my political battles. But I will try and remember that true Hope - and Faith in tomorrow - comes from the Hope of Christ.
I am blessed to be a citizen of the United States. I fully realize that the Hope I have for my children and grandchildren, and for yours, rest in the hearts of the people. When the people love God, the avenues of Blessings rain down.
I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas, and that you are looking forward to the new year with Hope.
