  • If you plan to call union members thugs, that's fine. You are entitled to your opinion. But at least next time you write, at least get the facts rights. The union leader who said "let's get those SOB out" during the Labor Day rally was Jimmy Hoffa, Jr., Teamsters president, not Rich Trumka from the AFL-CIO. This shows how ignorant you are. I feel bad for your readers who are misinformed. Your editor should post and apology and a correction. That is the right thing to do.

Sam, I am surprised at you. Don't you know it's all W's fault. President Obama inherited this mess. He can't be expected to clean it all up in 3 short years. (OK sarcasm mode off now)

Actually, the government does not have the power to improve things. But they can always make things worse--and that's just what they've done.

Earlier this week Ben Bernanke, head of the Federal Reserve Board, announced his Operation Twist plan to buy up long term treasury bonds and sell short term treasury bonds, in order to lower interest rates on the long bonds (those are yielding around 2%!). The reaction of the stock market, the commodity markets, gold, silver--erything has plummeted!

The more government action we get, the worse things get. Can we have a government that does nothing for a while, at least until we get back on our feet?

Nope. We get the president out in Ohio, already in campaign mode, screaming "Pass This Bill" so he can waste another half trillion of our dollars. By 2012 this president will have doubled our national debt in just 4 years, and taken over our health care system! Even Bill Clinton is saying Obama's plans are disjointed, but I believe he's too kind by half.

The people voted for change. They got it. They also will pay for it.

Ron Paul wins another debate. But the blatant media bias against him continues.

The media consists of mostly liberal-leaning folks. They push Perry and Romney because they are the least objectionable to liberals.

So we are likely to get another election like 2008 where we had an avowed socialist in Obama against the middle of the road McCain.

    No true conservatives need apply.

  • Trumka, Hoffa, no difference. They and they alone are the reason America's workers cannot compete with the rest of the world. Everything Sam has written will come to fruit. It is true, evil fights it's hardest, and dirtiest, when it is about to be defeated.

    Another great blog there, Sam!

  • yes chunk, the workers should be making 50 cents a day, then we could compete.

    1. Since you already played the race card in predicting that they would play the race card I guess your prediction is sort of right already.

    2. Yeah the media just love Obama, that must explain why every little trumped up charge thrown at Obama goes through every major cable network as fact until someone finally debunks it.

    3. So your basis for saying that union "thuggery" is going to rise this year is using a stat that covers 36 year and equals out to just short of 25 reported acts of violence? That is a bit of a stretch don't you think? Come to think of it, to actually use that stat to predict what will happen in one year is just out there.

Also, great job of attacking someone who didn't even make the comments that have you so fired up. Sorry, CPB, but there is quite a huge difference, especially when you attribute quotes to someone who didn't make them. It's either really sloppy on Sam's part, or he just doesn't care.

Odd, though that you take offense to Hoffa's statement but make no mention about one of the Koch brothers declaring war on a sitting president.

    4. Really? This is just sad and atrocious to actually compare making millionaires pay more taxes to Jews being massacred by the Nazi's. I would ask that you apologize, but I get the feeling you don't care that your statement is offensive at worst, and careless at best.

    5. What accomplishments are you talking about? Palin's half term as a governor? Bachmann's complete abuse of history for political gain? Christine O'Donnell not winning an election? While we are at it. Since you are concern-trolling does this mean you will take back all the nasty and untrue things you have said about Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton in the past? I mean seriously, if you expect everyone to tip toe around conservative women shouldn't you do the same about non-conservative women?

    6. Can you even name one now? I have never even heard of half the shows that show what you are talking about, nor any shows planned that have these premises.

    7. I was a bit confused on this one and then I realized what you were driving at. You are already building a defense against Democrats, that if their bills are passed and the economy starts improving you can just simply say that all those people are lying. You won't provide any facts to back yourself up, you made the prediction after all.

    8. I see you bought into the Ponzi-scheme malarki hook line and sinker. Yet you're the one that continues calling other people brainwashed.

Then again, Republicans would never use senior citizens for political gain, except when they did during the health care debate when they flat out lied about these systems being completed gutted by Democrats (which never happened, until the Republicans gained control and immediately tried to gut the programs). Oh and who could forget the big fat lie that was "death panels".

    9. Hey, you took my word calling the Justice system, the InJustice System. Copying is the highest form of flattery so I will say thank you.

    10. There's a good reason why a lot of what you are saying hasn't been investigated. Because it simply isn't true. But I love the theme you are going with here. You are afraid that somehow, Obama might win a second term. How do you eliviate that fear. Cry voter fraud before the election even gets here. Of course, people like yourself took glee in telling people to just shut up when Bush lost the General Election in 2000 yet still won the Presidency. Now, though, if someone dare contradict you when you claim that Obama won by fraud alone, Frannie bar the door.

    11. That is too far out there even for me. I heard about this when certain elements in the TEA Party started spitting on Congressmen and beating up people, that it was really far-leftists doing it. I still can't believe that anyone would believe that, but then again Sam, you never let me down.

    12. Now, that's just funny.

    13. Yes because being beaten in the skull because of what you are isn't a hate crime. Get over it man and quit faking. That's not a real injury.

    14. You're just making it up (or wherever you got this list) as you go now. That is just simply foolish.

    15. You made this same prediction three years ago and it has yet to pass. I guess you don't believe the saying that insanity is doing/saying something over and over and expecting a different result.

Just to finish all of this up. It still amuzes me that after all this time the only people referring to Obama as a messiah and a savior are all on the right side of spectrum. The ones that are supposed to be most god fearing comparing a President to a god-like status.

You keep believing that the worst is going to happen Sam. Eventually you may be right. Of course by taking this line you ignore all the facts, like unemployment had started creeping downward and jobs were being created until Republicans took control of the House. You have never let facts get in your way in the past, and I don't expect that to change anytime soon.

    Still with the "repugnant" justifications?

"Odd, though that you take offense to Hoffa's statement but make no mention about one of the Koch brothers declaring war on a sitting president"

My, my pretty full of ourselves aren't we Michael?

"Hey, you took my word calling the Justice system, the InJustice System. Copying is the highest form of flattery so I will say thank you."

I didn't know you were the first person to cleverly add "in" to the word justice to show wit. Also you are once again mangling a common expression, do you do that on purpose?

What do you mean by this?

"So your basis for saying that union "thuggery" is going to rise this year is using a stat that covers 36 year and equals out to just short of 25 reported acts of violence?"

How does 9000 equal less than 25? Even if it was just one act of violence shouldn't that be too many in your opinion?

The thing I find most amazing is all those posters that took offense to my statement that the blood of those killed in the Arizona shooting were on conservative politicians and talking heads are all quite right now despite this statement from Sam:

"This administration treats wealthy folks much like Hitler treated the Jews, and really, for the same reason."

Either they agree with Sam that the wealthy having to pay more taxes is just like Hilter and Nazis murdering Jews or they are nothing more than absolute complete hypocrites.

prediction 13: off and running - expect allot more of this type of Fascism in our schools

-- Posted by sameldridge on Fri, Sep 23, 2011, at 11:18 PM
  • Sam's opinions are actually quite mild compared to what leftist opinion writers and news commentators are saying about conservatives and Christians in this political news cycle.

Michael, you statement about the Arizona shooting was completely debunked and proven to be an all out lie. For you to even bring it up shows how delusional you truely are. That being said, the gloves are off.

In comparing Sam's prediction list to Michael's, Sam is so much more thought out and the proof is observable. Michael's on the other hand, merely hypothetical. It is pure hope the speculations come true. It is creating lies in an effort to falsely prove the hypothetical to appear true.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sam's point of illustrating how the Nazi's scapegoating the Jews for their supposed wealth to build their political power. Nothing close to Micheal's comparison.

-- Posted by Chunky Peanut Butter on Fri, Sep 23, 2011, at 11:25 PM

Wow so not only do you not find offense in Sam comparing tax increases to killing Jews, you actually find a way to defend his statement. You are nothing but a hypocrite CPB. The last time I checked there hasn't been a single multi-millionaire in this country sent to concentration camp or killed because of their supposed wealth or political power. There is no comparison. Sam should be ashamed of himself for making such a horrid comparison and you, CPB, should be even more ashamed for finding a way to defend his statement.

Oh and it's Michael, not Micheal.

So you proof that homosexuality if vile and that liberals are attacking the poor Palins is ... one man? Swing and a miss Sam.

So your proof that our schools are becoming a fascist indoctrination center is that a boy in Texas had a one day in school punishment for saying that homosexuality is wrong? What if the boy had said that Christianity was wrong and had to serve a one day in school suspension? Would this be an example of you fascist indoctrination center? Or would that be just fine for you? I suspect the latter.

SW Nebr - As Hitler took over Germany, they were economic crisis, they needed cash, and like most leftists, Hitler needed someone to demonize.

Hitler found what he needed in the Jewish folks. Many were well-to-do (the rich) and Hitler demonized these people. Using propaganda that we see allot of today out of the Obama administration, he demonized the Jews in Germany as "greedy" and the reason for Germany's economic problems. The propaganda worked, and the German people bought into the lies that Jews had taken all the money that belonged to them. They bought into the lie that "the rich" were to blame for Germany's problems rather than a corrupt and evil government.

Thus, when the Hitler regime started to arrest Jews, and confiscate their wealth, the German citizens went along with it.

more of prediction #1: (really, the Dems will play the race card everyday, but I want to give you examples of the total morons representing black Americans today)

Remember, it is the Democrats that call upon race above all other. Their poisoned minds can not simply grasp the fact that the Tea Party came about because of the Marxism of this President and this Administration.

Their brains can not grasp the fact that The Tea Party opposes this President, along with Reid and Pelosi, because they are robbing the piggy banks of future generations, and setting us on the path to Socialism and worse.

Oh by the way, Herman Cain did well in Florida. So much for the cries of racism.

  • First off, I must apologize to Michael for misspelling his name. I offer you my deepest apologies.

As Sam accurately pointed out, Germany was in a deep economic crisis. Also as Sam accurately pointed out, Adolph Hitler successfully demonized the Jewish as greedy. The people got behind him and the rest is history.

Today, we have the POTUS placing all the blame of our economic woes on the greedy rich. He has been successful in convincing the most liberal two thirds of the democrat party, and 95% of the liberal main stream media. What is shameful here is that Micheal, fully supports this man, POTUS, and his plan. We can only hope we don't follow the path of Nazi Germany, but there are no guarantees.

Richard Trumka or Jimmy Hoffa, same thing. I did say Trumka when it was Hoffa, and I will correct that mistake.

So Union thug (unionforlife) I see you do what is typical of Liberals, you found one little mistake you could exploit, and ignored the body of what I wrote. I expect nothing less from cowardly union thugs.

What is the problem unionguy, afraid to handle your employment in life without the aid of some vicious Socialist group to make sure you cannot be fired when you fail to do the job?

Also, 9000 reports of union violence since 1975 shows that unions can not win unless they use thuggery and strong armed tactics. The acts of cowards.

Add that to the fact that there are people forced to be in your Socialist unions against their will. I have a pal who just recently accepted a job with the railroad. He has NO freedom of choice. He must join the thug union if he wants to work.

You union creeps would die if not for your strong armed tactics and thuggery. Be man enough to admit it.

Unlike you, union thug for life, this Editor of this newspaper believes in the right speech. You, being a thug, do not.

Now the leftist propagandists at SNL really thought that Bachmann's hubby was a homosexual, why would these kindhearted, lovely commies make fun of it?

Face it folks, the left is vile, they are angry, they are hateful, they smear, they seek to destroy.

Hummm - let me see who is missing from that list.

It is the Democrats that seek to divide.

It is the Democrats that want to pit one group of Americans agaisnt the other.

  • Hi Sam,

Interesting stuff. You are certainly a man of conviction, I will give you that. I like that you will put yourself out there, in particular with bold predictions. I would like to ask though, how you intend to measure these predictions. For example, you use phrases like:

"promoted like you have never seen before"

    "played early and often"

"go even further down the propaganda hell hole"

    "Expect more"

    "will ratchet up"

Every prediction you make is kind of subjective, don't you think? What does "ratchet up" mean? Or, how much more should I expect when you say "expect more?"

I suppose it would be easy to predict about anything if you speak very generally like this. Actually, this is what fortune tellers do. It is the very same trick. They make general statements and they have the knack for making them seem very specific.

Criticizing your soothsaying though wasn't the reason I stopped to post. Please forgive the aside. I want to ask you a question about conviction.

What should we make of a man who never admits error, who never entertains the possibility of doubting his convictions, but rather unflinchingly 'sticks to his guns' all his life, even if evidence to the contrary surfaces? I was taught that doubt and skepticism, even of our deepest convictions, are signs of reason and modesty. Do you disagree?

-- Posted by Benevolus on Sun, Sep 25, 2011, at 8:50 PM
  • Also Sam, I examined the articles that you have posted that are alleged to support your predictions. I wonder how closely you read some of this stuff. Most of what you post as proof actually contradict your predictions. Here are some examples...

    You write:

"prediction 13: off and running - expect allot more of this type of Fascism in our schools"

But you omit from your assessment of the article this interesting paragraph...

"After a meeting with Pope and her attorney, the school rescinded the two-day suspension so Dakota would be allowed to play in an upcoming football game.

"They've righted all the wrongs," said Matt Krause, an attorney with the Liberty Counsel. "This should have no lasting effect on his academic or personal record going forward."

That doesn't seem particularly fascist to me. I haven't met many fascists actually (none that I know of) but I gather they aren't the types that admit their mistakes and take the steps to correct them.

    You write:

"In this wonderful article you'll see how the Obama campaign is going to focus on "...blacks, Hispanics, Jews, women, seniors, young people, gays and Asian Americans...Hummm - let me see who is missing from that list."

    But you omit:

"The campaign officials say they have not given up on wooing independents, and the 2012 presidential election will certainly involve a fierce fight for the college-educated whites and suburbanites who were more likely to back Obama in 2008 than the working-class whites who have always been more skeptical."

    Or this paragraph...

"And it is complemented by changes at the White House, including the impending hiring of a new Jewish community liaison and the recent promotion of another aide tasked with forging closer ties to black lawmakers, who have accused Obama of shying away from boosting troubled African American communities out of fear of alienating white voters."

Also, citing websites like theblaze.com probably does aid you in discovering stories that support your predictions, but it makes me wonder what you would say to a Democratic reader/poster who used MSNBC to support a claim s/he made. I could be wrong, (it wouldn't be the first time) but I suspect that you would scoff and dismiss the citation. Shouldn't we all be held to the same standards of using the least biased sources possible?

Both Sam and another blogger have shown, in my opinion, an inability to admit error, a refusal to consider that an opposing view may have some merit, and a willfull disregard for any contradictory evidence.

You asked what to make of such a person, I find them amusing but I also know that there is no "reasoning" with them. Therefore I find them fit for wasting time with only. I try on occasion to point out ridiculous stances and hypocrisy but to no avail. So I make of them an opportunity to entertain myself and others. What do you make of such a person?

"Shouldn't we all be held to the same standards of using the least biased sources possible?"

You should also know that the type of person you are speaking of doesn't see his media outlet as biased. He only sees the "other side" as biased, while his is telling the "real" story.

  • SWNebr Transplant,

I see what you were saying. Sorry, I can be a bit slow. Thanks for clarifying for me. I suspect that you may have a history of dealing with unreasonableness on this blog that I can't understand. Though in some ways I already see your point. An interesting draw to this board for me is the good vs evil dichotomy that is neatly characterized by the two political bloggers...each holding the other as the evil and themselves the good of course. I may lose hope as you have, but at this point I like to believe that even the most hardened ideologues are still susceptible to reason, evidence, and most importantly, respect. I guess we shall see.

When you asked me to answer the question that I asked Sam about conviction, that you then answered so honestly, I must admit my first reaction is that I don't know. Mockery is one strategy. Another is to simply ignore such people and as Franklin said, "leave them in error." I guess my naivete tells me that such people, given a measure of dignity, respect, patience, and incontrovertible evidence will eventually listen. I guess I wouldn't be shocked to be wrong.

  • what an interesting thread. To be sure, the usual from most folks (previous posters, myself included). And nice to see some measured, respectful responses from some.

Time to try out my new tagline.

WHO decides what is the FAIR SHARE?

  • well, up to this point the wealthy have decided what is a fair share.

  • Doodle Bug,

A fair share of what? Money? Opportunity? Social status?

    Prediction #6

Tonight on CNBC: Enron, The Smartest Men in The Room.

Expect to see this flick almost weekly for a while, as news organizations, loyal to Obama, do their best to show business in a bad light.

CNBC doesn't have time to investigate ACORN. CNBC doesn't have time to investigate President Obama's ties to militants, Communists, and terrorists.

CNBC doesn't have time to investigate the stimulus slush fund union payoff fraud. CNBC doesn't have time to investigate why the government hasn't secured the borders.

But Enron - they got time.

What the Obamunists have done with taxpayer cash, fraud, bailouts, takeovers, payoffs, union bribes and payoffs, Chicago thug politics, makes Enron look like a bunch of criminal rookies.

Expect more libel of business from NBC, who with GE, have been fed billions in taxpayers cash.

CNBC doesn't have time to investigate that either.

  • But Sam,

You omit that the next show CNBC is airing is called "Executive Vision: Leadership in Action."

    It is about:

CNBC's Executive Vision series is a global strategy session with some of the world's most acclaimed leaders. Host Simon Hobbs and a renowned panel of experts discuss provocative issues facing five key sectors and outline real-time, empowering strategies for success.

Here is a description of the first episode:

Media is more influential today than ever before. As an industry, media is taking hold and unraveling traditional notions of economy, changing our social development and shifting power in ways unimaginable several years ago. How can today's media leaders navigate this ever-changing landscape? Simply put: adapt or die.

How does this series challenge/contradict your 6th prediction?

    OMG! Prediction #4:

The Village Voice's Michael Feingold says that the government should kill the rich and seize their assets.

Now if ANY conservative on the freakin' globe suggested anything anywhere near this the media would jump on it like a rat on a Cheeto.

Again, just as the Nazi's demonized the Jews to steal their money and do away with them, today's moonbat liberal walks in those shoes.

Oh, did you see this reported in any of the Obama-mania media? Well, we know better, don't we?

-- Posted by sameldridge on Mon, Sep 26, 2011, at 8:10 PM
  • Hi Sam,

Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure you will) but isn't Feingold a theater critic? And what's showed on the link looks like a portion of a Facebook page was cut and pasted onto a blog. Two questions arise: 1) Why would/should the mainstream media report about the inflammatory Facebook post of a theater critic; 2) how can we be sure this isn't a hoax? Many people on the right have had visceral reactions to these sorts of things in the past, only to find out someone had doctored or fabricated the story.

  • Benevolus (9/26/11 8:55 pm) Again, I completely agree with your last post, especially the last sentence. To paraphrase Rep Maxine Waters, all the liberal democrats can "go to hell". I guess the point I am trying to make, is that the things we ALL complain of happen on both sides of the political stripe. Sam is extreme right, Michael is extreme left.

The tagline refers mostly to taxes. Most of the liberals say the wealthy should pay their fair share. I want to know who in blazes decides what the fair share is. I would go along with fair share if only I could be the one who decides what is fair.

WHO decides what is the FAIR SHARE?

  • Doodle Bug,

I see your point about perspectives. Universally, arguing about politics can often be sticky business. But in my experience I have found that allowing someone to keep their dignity while still engaging their political ideas will tend to bring people closer together, even if their ideas remain irreconcilable. So Michael and Sam both are left to defend not only their ideas, but also their dignity. I can see extremism and the hardening of opinions as consequences of that...but I don't think the situation is irreversible. Though I admit I may be revealing my naivete.

Regarding your tagline, I guess in a way the citizens of the country elect leaders who in turn impact who pays what in a couple ways: 1) presidents appoint various people to positions in our financial institutions like the Federal Reserve, who make decisions impacting tax increases/decreases, inflation, interest rates, capital gains, etc; or 2) congress enacts legislation that raises and lowers tax rates, they pass federal budgets that can do the same, etc.

So I guess there is some cause for relief, Doodle Bug, because while you don't have direct control over fairness where taxation is concerned, you do have a voice, and your ideas about fairness can be represented via the election process. It might not be perfect, but it does seem fair.

He Sam you were exactly right, the race card has been played ... but it is from one Republican to another. I guess this doesn't really count though since it's on the Republican side. Had this been on the Democratic side you would have already posted an entire blog about it and used it to make the "claim" that only Democrats do this sort of thing:
