Hey Buddy, Can You Spare Fifty Bucks For A Light Bulb?

Posted Monday, October 11, 2010, at 12:21 AM

Better stock up on incandescent light bulbs. By 2012, the incandescent will not be sold anymore in the USA. Later this year, Home Depot plans to have the Phillips 12-watt EnduraLED at the ridiculous price of fifty bucks.

How do you get the folks to spend fifty dollars for light bulbs? Well, it takes some work. First you have to spread the big lie of global warming or climate change or whatever name the commies are using to describe phony futuristic Eco disaster.

When the former Soviet Union broke apart, the Communists of the world needed a new vehicle with which the spring their wondrous plans for a Socialist Utopia, and they found that vehicle within the environmental movement.

Here in the United States, universities were used to spread the climate change lie using junk science paid for with bribes from liberal politicians, using your money.

Hal Lewis, Professor Emeritus of the American Physical Society (APS) resigned in disgust over the phony climate change baloney. Lewis had a super job, lots of cash and benefits, all he had to do to keep it, was go along with the scam. Lewis refused. The honorable professor called the climate scam "the biggest psuedoscientific fraud" he has seen in his brilliant career.

Professor Lewis, in his resignation letter to the APS published by UK's Telegraph, pounded away at his fellow physicists for being bought with money to support the climate hoax. He hearkened back to the days when he chaired the Reactor Safety Study by the APS. Lewis said "scientists once gave an impartial thesis."

Professor Lewis went on to say in his resignation letter, "It is of course, the global warming scam, with the (literally) trillions of dollars driving it, that has corrupted many scientists, and has carried APS before it like a rogue wave."

Still more, "I don't believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read the (ClimateGate documents) without revulsion. I would almost make that revulsion a definition of the word scientist. So what has the APS done in the face of this challenge? It has accepted the corruption as the norm, and gone along with it."

It gets even worse according to Professor Lewis.

Lewis' resignation letter penned to Curtis G. Callan Jr. at Princeton University, the President of the American Physical Society, goes on to say, "There are indeed trillions of dollars involved, to say nothing of the fame and glory (and frequent trips to exotic islands) that go with being a member of your club. Your own Physics Department (of which you are chairman) would lose millions if the global warming bubble burst."

It is a usual tactic of the leftists, to accuse others of what they do.

While they decry greed, they are greedy beyond measure.

While they decry power, they seek unlimited and unconstitutional power.

While they decry corruption, they swim in the sewer of corruption.

Big corporations like General Electric and Phillips have supported the lies and supported the liberals in their efforts to control Americans at the most basic of levels. These corporations, with their unholy partnership with the Obama regime, stand to make billions on the backs of working folks. It's sick.

I have read countless reviews of these new light bulbs, and it looks like the average Joe/Jane will recoup the money spent on this farce in about 10-13 years. Marvelous.

Corporations like GE, which owns NBC and MSNBC, promotes the lies for the liberals, eager for their ill gotten gain. And you...will pay, and pay, and pay.

These are the liberals big ideals, a forty-one thousand dollar car, and a fifty dollar light bulb.

You better get a second job friend. Better get your spouse a second job too. You'll need every dime to pay for liberal green fantasies.

Ultimately, the truth is simpler. Liberals, Marxists, Socialists, Communists, and wacko university professors, want to control every aspect of your life. They are so very smart, you see, and they know best for you.

The commie libs work night and day to cripple US energy production, and sooner than later, you'll start realizing that it is going to cost you a small fortune to heat your home or use your air conditioning.

Not for them, you understand. They plan to live like the kings and queens they fancy themselves to be. In total control of the average American, because they consider us to be a bunch of stupid rednecks.

Oh November, oh November, you cannot get here quick enough.

The next election shall be but a small step to turn the tide of malignant liberalism that has infected almost every part of American life.

It will not be easy, but unless you want your children and grandchildren to live the life of serfdom, (as the libs dream and fantasize about), we conservatives have no choice but "set our forehead like flint" and push forward.

In this I have confidence, because of one important point.

We conservatives actually care about the future for our kids, whereas the commie libs care for their dismal dreams of a commie America.

Fifty bucks to replace a 60 watt bulb. Only liberals could come up with something this idiotic and dare to call it progress.

Wondering,

I should've linked the site where I got those steps for cleaning up a CFL bulb but I copied the steps word for word so that I wouldn't get any of them wrong plus it's just easier that way. The incandescant clean up was mine and not a part of the site. They say you can breath in mercury particles and that's also why you can't vacuum it up because it will stir up the mercury particles and spread them all over the place for others to breathe into their systems.

McCook1, good post about the clean up procedures, but just one thing made me chuckle, when cleaning up the CFL, do you have to really wear a duck mask? Now every time I put on a dusk mask to do something I will have a little chuckle about the duck mask.

See Sam, history has proven you correct, and they died.

RRW,

The story was very much true. The only thing disputed (even on your own link) is whether she actually needed the cleanup team. Nobody is going to spend $2,000 on an environmental cleanup crew unless they were told to, by someone of authority like the state's EPA office as is reported in the article. Maybe she got bad advice from someone at the state but she didn't decide to do this on a whim.

I did find a site with the steps for cleaning up a broken CFL and they are as follows:

1. Never use a vacuum to clean up the breakage because it may spread mercury dust in the air.

2. Keep people and pets away from the scene of the break.

3. Ventilate the area.

4. If possible, reduce the temperature of the room.

5. Wear protective equipment such as rubber gloves, safety glasses, a duck mask and old clothing.

6. Remove large pieces and place is secure, closed or airtight plastic bag.

7. Collect smaller pieces and dust using a disposable dustpan and broom.

8. Put all material into an airtight plastic bag. Pat the breakage area with the sticky side of something like duct tape. Wipe the area with a damp cloth or paper towels to pick up the rest.

9. Put the debris and any materials used to clean it up into a secure closed container and label it "Universal Waste -Broken Lamp."

10. Take the container for recycling of universal waste.

Here are the steps to clean up an incandescant light bulb:

1. Sweep it up. (Broom and dustpan can still be reused for other purposes after the cleanup).

2. Dump it in the trash.

Doesn't carry the very real risk of millions of lightbulbs making their way into the landfills and causing an even greater problem of mercury contamination in local landfills. Let's face it, not everyone is going to follow the proper steps. They're just going to dispose of CFLs like a regular light bulb because they're not worth the trouble.

Seems some would like to rewrite my post. Sorry, but if you want to start rewriting what I actually said then your argument against it is pointless and you're only arguing with your own revisions. I've seen the different type of bulbs and incandescent are still less expensive than any alternative.

I also recall the story of a lady who broke one of these energy efficient bulbs and called the EPA because there is mercury inside that particular bulb and she ended up with a bill for several thousand dollars to clean up after this one broken light bulb because of the mercury inside of it. I guess this is what we call... progress?

reformedrightwinger,

I'm touched that even when I don't post anything you feel you still need to refer to me...sorry I'm getting all misty here

Sorry, I expected more from you. Pay attention!

-- Posted by Chunky Peanut Butter on Tue, Oct 12, 2010, at 10:19 PM

No... just that the government mandated the energy efficiency of the bulbs we use, thus consumers have to buy something else they may not want because of the regs.

I didn't say that I disagree with the legislation, just questioning GI's statement.

Maybe I just missed your point??

GI said... "Stupid fear mongering regarding government mandating the light bulbs you purchase is banal and immature."

I'm not so sure there GI... Signed by GW Bush after being passed by democratic congress 2007... http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=45156

Maybe I missed the news that the above has been repealed??

Please let me know when you go to wal mart and spend 50 bucks for a light bulb. I will be awaiting our post.

Looks like you missed a lot Guillermo. "If", not "when".

-- Posted by Chunky Peanut Butter on Tue, Oct 12, 2010, at 8:05 PM

If government mandates that everyone has to buy these lightbulbs then of course, the corporations are going to make them and sell them. They stand to make record profits because of this. Of course, if a conservative ever did anything that allowed corporations to make record profits at the cost of the average consumer it would be deplorable.

Where do people like Sammy Boy come from? Are you born this way may I ask or did someone mold you into the moron you are today?

Here is a reason liberal centralization must be stopped in it's tracks.

Wow sam, someone wants to make money off of the goods they provide and this his how you act.

-- Posted by president obama on Mon, Oct 11, 2010, at 12:44 PM

You want to know what's truly strange? Despite Sam's attempts to put this totally at the feet of liberals this law was signed into law in 2007 by then president George W. Bush. Just thought I would point out that one very bad point left out.

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If American People allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation the banks AND corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. ~ Thomas Jefferson ~ 1802
