Take look at this article by Timothy P. Carney of the Washington Examiner: www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/Once... It is plain to see that Barack Obama and his regime had no problem cozying up to BP as BP was supporting many of the regimes plans and policies. This disaster can be laid clearly at the feet of the leftists in America. Why are they drilling out in 5000 feet of water when there is plenty of oil in Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Utah and Texas? Environmentalist wackos is why. Six months before this disaster, Obama, getting the support from BP for much of his agenda, was praising this operation, now he wonders who's "mule" he should kick. Look in the mirror Mr. President. Turn Right When You Reach Mars

Imagine if this had happened during Bush's presidency. Ten minutes after the accident, the media would have been screaming about Pres. Bush being owned by the petroleum industry, and 3 days after the spill started, there would have been loud complaints about how little had been done and petitions would be circulating to have him arrested for "crimes against nature."
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Remember, people, there are NO pelicans in ANWR...just millions of acres of nearly-empty land, with oil under just 1.2 out of 19 million acres of land. And land-based drilling technology is proven to be far safer for the environment.
So what you are really saying is that it's OK for the crisis to continue unabated by the Feds as long as Obama is Complainer in Chief?
I don't think Bush would have waited 13 days to visit the scene, or waited 25 days before he even addressed the problem. He would have been hung in effigy less than a week into this thing!!
Quit trying to BOIB (Blame it on Bush) every time the Feds screw up!!
Mrs Smith said... "Remember, people, there are NO pelicans in ANWR...just millions of acres of nearly-empty land,..."
While I agree to a degree about drilling in the ANWR, you should also consider that the extreme environment of Alaska's northern reaches present problems with similarities to the nightmare developing in the Gulf. Extreme cold causes a metal failures, and cleaning up frozen crude is to be avoided too.
FYI - You are correct there are no Pelicans, but there are a few other birds that could be impacted. I've listed birds first here since MrsSmith brought them up followed by the mammels that live in the area followed by the fish species.
I personally wouldn't call it mostly empty land since so many species inhabit such a hostile land...
