Off and running with resolutionsPosted Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at 10:24 AM
It is only day four of the new year and I am already struggling to keep those New Year Resolutions. But with this blog entry, I am on task for one of my resolutions: to sit down and write at least once a week. So I am technically one-for-one. Give me a gold star. As for all those other resolutions....let's just say that every day is a chance to start over.
One of my other resolutions was to run every day -- at least a mile. I am on task with that resolution too, although today looks iffy. Thankfully, Jeff Shaddock asked the YMCA to form a running club, which gives us some built-in running partners. Perhaps one of your resolutions was to exercise more this year and more specifically, to get running. Maybe, competing in a road race was on your list. Or maybe, it's just getting out and walking more. Then, this running club may be for you. We are meeting for the first time tonight at the YMCA at 7 p.m. in the meeting room (the former weight-lifting room). We will discuss the best day to do long runs, if you are preparing for a marathon or half-marathon. We will cover what the club will offer, such as classes about nutrition and running shoes. We will see what races people want to enter or prepare for. One of the group's original intentions was to help people train for the Lincoln National Guard Marathon and Half-Marathon, since McCook had such a high number of runners at last year's event. Unfortunately, that race -- which doesn't take place until May -- filled up in record time and closed off entries. Regardless, we will continue to prepare for that race as well as any other races on the horizon. And you don't have to be training for a race to join us. We just wanted to get people moving. And maybe, just maybe, get us some running partners so we can keep our resolutions. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Good job, Ronda! I was going to write a blog about all of my broken resolutions. I still might. Waiting for the motivation. Maybe I should have made a resolution to be motivated.
I decided to break my resolution of not making any resolutions this time, so I resolved to be more skinny. I have been a complete success, and am now more Skinny. I shaved my head. Six days into the year, and I am still more skinny (Electric razors are really good at keeping one skinny). (^8
Happy New Year.
