Local control of schools.

Great idea in theory.

But I remember when the children of the Best Stockman, Best Horseman and De-Factor Veternarian in our coummunity [Plus being a loyal, helping friend to those with fewer dollars] could not legally send his kids to school in our one-room prairie school.

Aside from being one of the legit community pillars, he was African-American, or colored, or Negro. As were his children.

Guess what, the board trustees had to figure a way to get his kids into our school, in large part paid for by his taxes.

The solution, another neighbor took his entire family to their Indian Tribal capital, adopted them into their own family, and enrolled them on the tribal rolls.

Under the state's constitution -- the children could attend our school and the father could serve on the school board, where his business abilities and wisdom were more than valuable.

As a trustee, he and his family devoted several days each August and late December to the physical work of maintaining the school -- along with all the other trustees and their family.

To the best of my knowledge, this was one of the few schools in the state where this happened.

Then there were the other states, where the Native American sons were welcome to wear the uniform and die for this country -- just don't expect to vote in any election if you were aa "red skin," even with a parfleche full of combat decorations.

By the way, you might want to check the Viet Nam Dead, Wounded and Maimed rosters. You will discover the majority of those on those lists were African-American men and boys from the Inner Cities, with a major sprinkling of Immigrant Latinos. Chualar, California -- ten miles southeast of Salinas on U.S. 101, 95% Mexican farm worker population, lost more sons to Viet Nam combat per capita than any other community in the nation.

NONE of those parents were U.S. citizens.

Meantime, Super-Hawk patriots named Danny Quayle, George W. Bush, Richard Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, among other sons of the ultra-rich conservative citizenry, ducked and dodged to avoid combat service in Viet Nam.

Poppa Bush and Poppa Quayle used their political influence and economic power to get their sons jumped ahead of four and five year waiting lists into their states' Air National Guard Headquarters Units. With money and influence behind them, the ANG openings miraculously opened.

Even for Danny Quayle -- who had just FLUNKED OUT and been OFFICIALLY EXPELLED from DePaul University.

Any average Democrats' or Republicans' son would have had a shaved head, and been chewed out hourly by training cadre instructors in an infantry training camp.

In the ideal society, we would only need the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Unfortunately, this country has never been ideal, our systems are still being perfected.

The majority of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were slave owners.

You want to reform SSI, Medicare, etc.

Your woeful, studied ignorance prevents you from recognizing those were all programs labeled "Socialist" by your conservative political ancestry when introduced.

Then in your ignorance, you insist Global Warning is a myth.

Glaciers world wide are disappearing each year, faster than they melted in a 200 year period prior to 1900.

Low-lying islands worldwide have DISAPPEARRED as Polar ice melts. Some Pacific Island nations will almost certainly disappear within the next half century if not sooner.

More than 150 counties from New Jersey, south to Key West, west to Mexico are preparing to loose as much as 75% of their land mass.

Most of the offshore islands in that region will go under water, many have already been submerged.

And the brilliantly educated gearjammer calls Global Warning a fraud!!!

Wind power, now producing millions of kilowatts of power worldwide -- according to Sam the Swami, is a farce.

Yes we need to develop the Willison Basin, Colorado, Utah and Wyoming oil shale deposits, and convert most of the commercial trucking fleet to pressurized natural gas fuel.

We also need to move most of the long-haul freight to rail, and restructure the railroads to move freight coast-to-coast at a steady 50 mph.

3,000 miles in 60 hours.

Piggy back every container or truck scheduled to move 1200 miles or further.

But for the gearjammer with his self administered BS, MS and PHd [We all know what Sam's B.S. is, and the M.S. is simply MORE of the SAME, with Sam's self ordained PHD, simply Piled Higher and Deeper] to declare the combined studies of thousands of qualified scientists to be "Fraud."

That means, Sam and family, Will Not call any police agency if threatened in any way; Will Not

utilize any tax-supported facility, Roads, Highways and Interstate Freeways, Will Not any Public Schools; Will Not enter any Public Hospital; Will Not accept Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid; Veterans benefits; Will Not make use of Federally Regulated [FAA} Airports or Air Traffic Routes; Will Not use the U.S. Postal Service; Will not use the services of any business which uses any of these Socialist programs and facilities, and Will Not accept any tax subsidized medical assisting in removing Sam Eldrige's permanent Cranial Rectal Suppository.

What bugs the Hell out of me is a man who has made his living running a big rig on Socialistic roads, denouncing everything that benefits anyone but him.

There is not a business or industry in this country which has not received major benefits from Federal Government subsidies, yet 90% of the conservatives with full pockets from subsidies, denounce all programs except the one which has fattened them and their kids.

Personally attending or watching TV replay of Health Care Town Halls, you hae to repeat the process as many times as possible to get the straight information needed -- simply because the for-profit Health Care industries -- Insurance, drugs and facilities -- have planted so many shouting, ranting, didactic shills in the audience with the sole goal of disruption and preventing level-headed people from getting facts.

I've been there when rational legislators from both parties sat down and produced solutions to public needs.

That approach is impossible today, because screamers and unyielding clowns have destroyed the concept of compromise.

And a bunch of you on here, with your constant mame calling are a major part of the problem, with no part of the solution.

My old party, the GOP, has failed miserably in moving competent people into national leadership.

Virginia produced Richard Poff in the 1960s, but he had to battle the supposed conservatives in his own party to advance any conservative programs.

Dick Poff found more allies across the aisle for conservative legislation than in the GOP.

Why, because his bills did not include any payola for Republicans or Democrats. His proposals only produced results for the people.
