Up Against The Wall Fatty!Posted Monday, February 23, 2009, at 11:45 PM
As a smoker, I have certainly heard "it" these past years regarding smoking. No one came to my defense when, as a smoker, I was subject to unfair taxation and regulation, and public scorn. Fine, I get it, smoking sucks. The most expensive health care costs in America however, goes to obesity. Oh yes it does. Being overweight effects all the other areas of the body, and fat folks are a big risk to insurance companies. Under Obamacare, the government will insure you no matter how much you weigh. That is where our chubby friends are going to find out what it is like to have their weight discussed as a public issue. Your eating habits could come under the scrutiny of a bureaucrat. You may need surgery, but you are overweight, and you may not fall within the "guidelines". Up against the wall fatty! McDonald's reported a profit (evil capitalist pigs) and so they will be an easy target for the Obama Administration. Sooner or later, some robot for the leftists will say, McDonald's is getting rich, killing people with their food, and the taxpayers get to pay. Oh yes, under National Socialistic Obamacare, your extra pounds will be the public's business, because everybody will be paying for the health care those extra pounds will cost. The tofu and fish bait eaters will complain. You Midwestern rednecks are eating too much meat, and that is driving up the cost of health care. Up against the wall fatty! We need a meat tax, to pay for health care. Ready for $40 rib eye? Next of course, will be government telling people it is their "patriotic duty" to go on ahead and die already, the taxpayers have paid enough on you, this is still a few years off, but not as far away as you may think. You fatty's are going to get hammered. The skinny people don't know what it is like to be fat, they have no clue. People like me can eat anything, and never gain a pound, I have no ideal what it is like to have extra weight. Why don't you just lose weight? Just lose it. People who don't know what it is like to quit smoking say that to me all the time. "Just quit." Okay, just lose weight. It will not be long until we will have you heavy people eating outside. The smokers will share a little of their outdoor space. Down the road of course, we will have food police. They will make sure that employers don't have any "non-healthy" food available at the work place. Maybe we should have a non-smoking & non-fat section in the restaurants. We wouldn't want children seeing you over eat, would we? Right now, employers can refuse to hire someone who smokes, even if that person only smokes at home. Sooner than later, employers will be able to do that same thing regarding chubby Americans. "Sorry, we can not hire you, um...you are overweight, and you may cause us to go into a higher health care taxation bracket." So get ready fat folks. Oh you laughed at us smokers, standing outside in the rain to have our cigarette. Soon, you will be standing out there next to us, with Twinkies and your slim fast. Remember, you folks are too stupid to take care of yourself. Who said you were too stupid? Well, you did! When you voted for Obama. I Am Ready For REFORM!

The libs love the whole "if it saves one baby" line.
When I get upset at the left, it is over this type of hypocrisy. The idea that Iraq civilians are so precious, if our soldier accidentally kills one, but at home, babies continue to die, three thousand a day...a the libs yawn.
You mentioned the public transportation. I have seen the public trans of Denver, Chicago, Los Angeles and Houston. No one rides. I see them empty, or near to it most the time.
Have you seen Obama talk about energy lately? The liberals are secretly happy when gas prices are high. They can demonize the oil companies, pander to the poor, promote worthless environmental energy, and steal more money from the taxpayer.
But...I'm not bitter. More astonished.
Guillermo
Are you citing the Japanese story as a way to show how great or how terrible that governmental policy is?
Sam
I am paraphrasing here.
You are angry. You did not like the election. You don't like the potential policy changes that are coming with the new administration in several areas.
You were trying to make the point - when is government - too much government - and when does it intrude on our personal choices and freedoms. Which is a basic question most of us have discussed in civics classes in school.
You illustrated this with your own personal issue of smoking. Your other illustration is using the current obesity issue in this country as an alternative illustration to the same point.
So, what is all the arguing about? You are entitled to your opinion and as well as I am. The folks who respond are entitled to their opinions as well. But sometimes I think the discussions get so off course that it really distracts from the topic at hand.
If I am interpreting this not as you intended, I do apologize. But I appreciate that I can respond in a civil manner.
Sincerely
Betsy
This entire healthcare issue irritates me. I have healthcare coverage, but it is terrible coverage. My deductible is so high, I just as well not have the coverage, because I have not exceeded the deductible in years. Admitedly, I have to be nearing my death bed before I will go to the doctor, But I pay for this insurance so these doctor visits and such will not be a big financial burden. Obviously this is not working. The health care industry, in my opinion, is a giant money eating machine. It is one of the few services that you can purchase in which you will pay a rediculous fee, and in return you will get no guarantee of its effectiveness or quality. I see the medical equipment that is purchased by hospitals that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, most if this crap is old technology that is no more advanced than a color television. But because it was made for the healthcare industry, it carries a very high price tag. Some how, something needs to be done. If the government is not extorting this money from us, the health care industry will.
As you stated Sam, if the government takes this money machine over, suddenly we will have price tags on our head. We will be less valuable if we are chrinically ill, or elderly, or overweight. At some point we will be refused health care becuase we have exceeded our worth. You can bet that the doctors will still get thier money!! In my opinion, a lot of the doctors out there are no better than a lawyer...Your life is only worth as much as your paycheck! And when the government takes over the healthcare system, you will be placed on a depreciation scale and disposed of when you run out of worth.
It seems to me that we are already on a depreciation scale except its the insurance companys and not the government that make the decision. Judging from some of what I have read alot of the people that post here are out of worth now.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090223/ap_o...
I have seen people turned away from medical treatment for the lack of health insurance, and I have seen people on public assistance denied procedures back on cost and viability. Exactly what is so rediculous about that statement.
You know, I love you guys/gals, I really do.
As seentoomuch brought up, having health insurance isn't really so great either. I too have the five thousand deductible policy. I pay quite a bit for it, and that reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw..."taxation With Representation is so hot either".
But the problem with health care cost is the same as it has always been. The US government. They started screwing up the system with Medicare and Medicaid. Now we are stuck with programs that we can never end, that costs trillions, and then, our friends the libs, come right back with more government screw up; as an answer to the problems they created.
One way to control health care costs would be to give hospitals and Doctors very favorable tax incentives, but that would make all the sheep mad, so it will never happen.
I wanted our plump friends to realize that liberalism never stops telling you how to live. AND, if you think your weight is off limits to public discussions, well, you are in for a rude awakening.
Is this really what we want? Our government telling you how much you should weight. You over-weight people just stood by while we smokers were just pilloried by one and all, and when it happens to you, what will you do?
Is that the "magic answer" heavy people? The only diet that will actually work is the government demanding you lose weight?
We'll see. Wait until the fat taxes start impacting the ole food bill. Taxes on everything skinny anorexic liberals don't think is healthy.
You folks are just gonna love Socialism.
Betsy - when my team doesn't win, I am not one to take my ball and go home, I appreciate the competition.
What I don't like is Obama changing the entire game. Obama is trying to fundamentally change the USA from a demcratic republic to a socialist oligarchy...and that is flat scary.
Guillermo,
You are correct in assuming that the whole depreciation scale thing was an exaggeration. Mostly this was an attempt to vent a bit of frustration about our current health care system. I was stationed in Germany while I was in the service, and you are also correct that these hospitals are just as good as American hospitals.
I was also trying to get across the idea that any time you get a measure of government funding, you will also get a measure of government control. I think that the US can and must do better, I just dont want it to be taken too far. Thank you for your comment and explaination.
Sam, having earned VA medical benefits, I believe I do have about the best medical care in the world. But if a person does not have GOOD group medical AND ACCESS TO THE BEST HOSPITALS AND DOCTORS --
The U.S. medical system is far from tops.
I've had many GOOD group medical plans, some expensive private insurance and the VA.
The VA bureaucracy is easier to deal with than any private or group insurance company.
But for the majority of Americans who are without any group medical and cannot afford private medical insurance -- This country's medical system sucks.
Ask any country doctor, who treats lots of folks for free -- because otherwise they will die -- and works 100 hour weeks to make up as much of the difference as possible with insured patients.
Believe it or not -- for the average person, Mexico's publicly subsidized system beats ours.
Many communities have more US trained doctors per capita than any of the High Plains states.
Now, ain't that a kick in the nether regions?
Guill - Respecting life goes beyond telling someone what they can do with their body. That argument is so lame dude. We tell people all the time what they can do with their bodies.
You libs want the right to kill your own unborn child, the right to homosexual sodomy, and the right to porn. When Christians say "no" you say we try and control lives.
Meanwhile, you libs have installed a MASSIVE Federal Government that does nothing BUT manage and regulate people. It is astonishing and a contradiction I love to see you libs try and wiggle through.
Libs live for political correctness, telling people how to talk. You want the fairness doctrine, telling people what they can hear. Libs are never ending control freaks.
AND, your best weapon is still to accuse others of doing the very thing you do.
Back to the fat folks. I want plump Americans to think before they support Obamacare. They will be the next target of the commie lib control freaks. They may end up getting much more Hell than the Heaven they are being promised.
i want my ronny back, that's funny. we need a man like ronny back, for sure. he was voted in by a great majority of Americans. God rest his soul.
over fifty million dead kids is alot of bodies to stand on for your principles. I am a cry baby for the unborn. I admit it.
You addressed none of my points, and I think you're slippin'. My advice to you is to get a Valium salt-lick next to your computer. You can take a big ole lick whenever you feel sanity beginning to surface.
Wow, liberals want to tell you how to live, how bout conservitaves. Holy cow. Thats the pot calling the kettel black. Sometimes the ignorance on this board astounds me. Just when I think I've seen it all Sam comes up with something outta left field.
Back to abortion since no one answered my questions on the other thread.
Is abortion a legal or moral issue. If it is a legal issue, will outlawing it stop it? If it is a moral issue, can the government legislate morallity? Why not outlaw sex except for procreation? Lets invite the government into our bedrooms and if they feel that you are having sex becuase you enjoy it and not to have children you could pay a fine.
No one likes abortion and it would be nice if no one ever had one. I am not comfortable telling others how to live their lives. That comes back to the government telling you how to live.
So if in not a christian I can say homosexuals can get married, anyone that wants to of a legal age can view porn, and women should control their reproductive rights? So that shold be ok with you sam, as long as they are not christians. Why should homosexuals not get married? Why the hell should they get to be happy and hetrosexuals be stuck being miserable? With a divorce rate at around 75% I say let the homosexuals be miserable too.
hey g5, I can tell you that the deductibale and the premiums I pay will not come close to what I would pay in taxes for universal health care.
You know what I find really ironic, the pro life people who shoot abortion providers.
GI, I understand that you are trying to take a stand and educate the small minded but I cannot take it. I am done posting on Sams blogs. Some people just refuse to step out of their "box" and view things from a different perspective.
oh yeah, one more thing, I hear some elected officials talk about how bad government run health care is and I think, wow, they are on government health care, If it is so bad, why dont they get off of it. I would trade my policy through a private insurer for their government run health care any day, think they would take me up?
You sir, are ridiculous.
who's ridiculous, bluefire?
