Karla: Welcome to tonight's' round of SpendObama, (audience cheers) the very real political game show, that passes out billions of taxpayer dollars. Yes we do! We also pass out liberal justice, and we do that by having contestants SPIN the Big Pork Wheel, to determine the contestants prizes...or justice. Let's get started! Will the first contestant enter and tell us who you are, and who you represent. Contestant 1: Hi. I am James Hoffa, and I represent the labor unions in USA. We stood beside President Obama. Yes we can! (audience cheers) Karla: Welcome James. Go ahead and SPIN the Big Pork Wheel, and.......round and round it goes, and where it stops, we already know. Wow! You landed on Trusted Comrade! You are to be rewarded with billions in government contracts, and money to fatten up your pension plans. You will be able to continue to use union dues to promote Democrats, and we'll make sure to bail out industries you help destroy! Well, that was nice. Let's move on! Bring out our second contestant! Contestant 2: Howdy. I am George W. Halliburton, and I represent the Oil, Gas and Coal Industry in America. We are very important to America's survival and growth. (audience booing) Karla: Now George, go ahead and SPIN the Big Pork Wheel, and.......round and round it goes, and where it stops, we already know. Oh my, you landed on Enemy of the State. You will get no money, instead, you get Liberal Justice! (audience cheers) You will get more regulations, and more taxation. You will be demonized in Media, and sued by government sponsored environmental groups. (still cheering) If you try and build new facilities, find new oil, develop the oil we have, then the government will block you, or tax you into bankruptcy! That's Liberal Justice, and that was fun! Let's move on, bring out Contestant 3. Contestant 3: Greetings. I am Kwame Kilpatrick, the Mayor of Detroit, and since I am out of jail for the moment, I am here to represent Big City Mayors. The nations' largest cities have been under OUR liberal rule for decades now, and somebody has GOT to pay! We delivered the election to President Obama, and we're here to SPIN that taxpayer wheel! Karla: That's fine Kwame, SPIN the Big Pork Wheel and.......round and round it goes, where it stops, we already know! Amazing! You landed on a HUGE prize, the Socialism Bonanza! (audience goes crazy) That's right Kwame, billions and billions of dollars are headed your way, in your cities! Money for every conceivable project liberals can dream up. Billions for government union pension plans, and health care. Billions to build up your city bureaucracies, and firmly establish socialism in our nations largest cities! (still cheering) And, that's not all! Billions for organizations like ACORN, so that voter fraud can be a permanent part of inner city Democrat politics! Karla Marx continues: We have to take a minute, and thank our sponsors. None of this would be possible without the big DIC's in Congress. Democrats In Charge. Thanks Nancy! Thanks Barney! Thanks Harry! And a big SpendObama thanks to President Obama! (crowd in a frenzy, some need to be revived) Bring on Contestant 4! Contestant 4: Hi there, I am Janet Reno. I am here tonight to play for America Trial Lawyers, and because I am the only former Clinton Administration member that President Obama hasn't brought back, yet! The Trial Lawyers were President Obama's biggest contributors, and they deserve a turn at the taxpayers dough! (cheering) Karla: Fantastic Janet: Step up and spin the, oops, that's all the time we have for tonight Janet, you'll have to come back next week for your shot at Taxpayer goodies! Join us next week when Janet returns to SPIN the Big Pork Wheel. Our other contestants next week will be, Joe the Plumber, representing small businesses, (crowd boos) and George Lopez, representing tens of millions of Hispanics, and last but not least, by any means...next week, Al Gore will SPIN the Big Pork Wheel for the Earth and all of mankind! See who gets money, and who gets liberal justice! This is Karla Marx saying so long comrades. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Oh My! Little too much time with the Flying J's satellite internet connection, hmmmm? Making up your own game shows? Think you've been in SoCal a bit too long as well.
This has to be the best analogy for stupid liberalism I have ever read. This is as simple as an accurate explaination of what these people are doing can get. However, I doubt anyone on the left even "gets it."
Fred - you pretty much nailed it. Takes one to know one.
Justin - Thanks for the kind words
Hello comrads, just checking in today to see what industry the government now owns and how many more government employees that won't pay taxes we have today.
Well, gotta go,
God Bless the mother country, U.S.S.A
(United Social States of America)
I have been very concerned about the debt load of our country for many years now and have been amazed at how people's eyes would just glaze over when I tried to make the point that we are heading for disaster. The uncontrolled spending really started in the early 80's and has only continued to get worse through successive administrations. Government officials would always say..."as a percentage of our gross nation product the debt is not as issue". Of course as disconnected Americans we just listened to their nonsense and went about our daily functions oblivious to this time bomb just waiting to blow up. Shame on us!
I don't have the answer now and frankly I don't think the government does either. I know the American people expect something to be done but what is it that the government can do? Do we not do anything and just let this economic meltdown run its course? Do we spend a trillion dollars trying to jump start the economy? I do know that 70% of our economy is consumer spending and that is not healthy. It should be around 50% consumer spending and 50% manufacturing and other economice activity.
With Nafta and other free trade agreements, supported by politicians on both sides of the aisle, much of our manufacturing base has moved overseas and most people think we can never recover what has been lost since Transnational corporations will always seek out the cheapest labor regardless of the impact on their country of origin.
I would like to hear some serious ideas on what people think should be done given the seriousness of the problem facing not only our country but economies around the world. The one subject I rarely hear politicians, or average Americans for that matter, discuss is cutting Pentagon spending. Why is this subject so taboo? Eisenhower warned us to be aware of and vigilant about the "military industrial complex". Can we afford to continue uncontrolled spending in the Pentagon or can we put this subject on the table for serious discussion?
It is my firm belief that defending our country is way more important than giving millions to ACORN (a questionable organization at best), propping up the failed labor unions, or studying the methane emissions of farm animals. If it weren't for our military, our country would have gone up in smoke years ago. You may or may not have liked Pres. George W. Bush's policies, but you have to admit, we haven't been attacked since 9/11/01. Also, if it weren't for the industries that manufacture military equipment, ie: jet fighters, tanks, etc. There would be much more unemployment than we have now. I say we continue to fund the Pentagon, they are the only ones standing between freedom and annihalation!
"The Proposal"
When a company falls on difficult times, one of the things that seems to happen is they reduce their staff and workers. The remaining workers need to find ways to continue to do a good job or risk that their job would be eliminated as well. Wall street, and the media normally congratulate the CEO for making this type of "tough decision", and his board of directors gives him a big bonus.
Our government should not be immune from similar risks.
Therefore: Reduce the House of Representatives from the current 435 members to 218 members and Senate members from 100 to 50 (one per State). Also reduce remaining staff by 25%.
Accomplish this over the next 8 years. (two steps / two elections) and of course this would require some redistricting.
Some Yearly Monetary Gains Include:
$44,108,400 for elimination of base pay for congress. (267 members X $165,200 pay / member / yr.)
$97,175,000 for elimination of the above people's staff. (estimate $1.3 Million in staff per each member of the House, and $3 Million in staff per each member of the Senate every year)
$240,294 for the reduction in remaining staff by 25%.
$7,500,000,000 reduction in pork barrel ear-marks each year. (those members whose jobs are gone. Current estimates for total government pork earmarks are at $15 Billion / yr)
The remaining representatives would need to work smarter and would need to improve efficiencies. It might even be in their best interests to work together for the good of our country!
We may also expect that smaller committees might lead to a more efficient resolution of issues as well. It might even be easier to keep track of what your representative is doing.
Congress has more tools available to do their jobs than it had back in 1911 when the current number of representatives was established. (telephone, computers, cell phones to name a few)
Note:
Congress did not hesitate to head home when it was a holiday, when the nation needed a real fix to the economic problems. Also, we had 3 senators that were not doing their jobs for the past 18+ months (on the campaign trail) and still they all had been accepting full pay. These facts alone support a reduction in senators & congress.
Summary of opportunity:
$ 44,108,400 reduction of congress members.
$282,100, 000 for elimination of the reduced house member staff.
$150,000,000 for elimination of reduced senate member staff.
$59,675,000 for 25% reduction of staff for remaining house members.
$37,500,000 for 25% reduction of staff for remaining senate members.
$7,500,000,000 reduction in pork added to bills by the reduction of congress members.
$8,073,383,400 per year, estimated total savings. (that's 8-BILLION just to start!)
Big business does these types of cuts all the time.
If Congresspersons were required to serve 20, 25 or 30 years (like everyone else) in order to collect retirement benefits there is no telling how much we would save. Now they get full retirement after serving only ONE term!
Sam, Slight problem.
Between Reagan, Poppa Bush and DubYah, federal government payrolls just about doubled, the national debt went up about a combined $12-Trillion.
After DubYah, we have been in Iraq, longer than we were in WWII. He has run the debt up incredibly, shifting hundreds of billions to KBR/Halliburton for New Orleans and Iraq, virtually all on no-bid contracts with huge override provisions.
As a coup de grace to us peasants, after $5.00 gas and $6.00 diesel, the entire financial industry is in a shambles, our national economy has pulled the global economy down lower than the botom level of the Kimberly mine -- and we are facing $12-$14-Trillion national debt.
This morning's news, Bush's crowd overpaid banks by the billions for their junk assets.
This after Clinton balanced the budget and did a good job of paying down Poppa Bush's debts.
After all this -- Uber-Conservatives are screaming about Obama and the Democrats spending to get this country out of the hole Dubyan dug us into?
Obama's spending is designed for working people and to rebuild the roads, bridges, sewers, water systems, schools and other public needs neglected while DubYah was so busy lining the pockets of his rich rriends.
Joe Biden is not going to be shoveling money onto any company he used to be president of -- How do you spell -- C-H-E-N-E-Y ???
Crooks like the top Enron dogs are not operating with White House VIP passes.
By the way, next time you are through Boise -- stop by the airport men's room and say hello to Larry Craig for all the "Fellowth" along Polk Street in Than Franthico.
Kurt - I'd like to slap the Marxist Professor that screwed you up bro. WOW!
Marcus, excellent points.
The biggest point of all should be, that Congress could have ended the recession, the Democrats created to win the election, and not spent a dime. All they had to do was get off our freakin' back! Stop over taxing us, stop over regulating us, stop spending billions to buy votes from minorites.
Barney Frank and Chris Dodd should be in jail for what they did, and typical liberal Kurt, has the Enron thing down, but he completely ignores the Democrats who have betrayed their own country, to get elected. The sub-prime crisis, Democrats invented it, and worked it to perfection.
And Kurt, who am I to answer for Larry Craig? It was Barney Frank, the man who actually masterminded the sub-prime debacle just in time for election, who had a homosexual prostitution ring running out of his house. Queer isn't it, how you ignore Barney, and hammer Larry? I'm sure you've forgotten about Garry Stubbs too, huh?
All you liberals got that Eisenhower quote down, do you even understand where that came from? Or did your Marxist Professor forget to tell you?
It was American business, working with the military that won the war. These businesses spent millions to re-tool, and buy equipment, and when the war was over, they wanted some tax considerations for all their expense and help winning the war. Eisenhower listened to the moderates in the party, and instead of helping business, he demonized them with that "military industrial complex" quote. Eisenhower was a okay General, and in my humble opinion, without George Patton, Omar Bradley and Douglas MacArthur, Eisenhower would have lost the war. Eisenhower had notions of running for office long before the war was over.
Kurt, you need help. If you think any little people are going to win with our entry into socialism, you're delusional, and not only that, I think you are a marvelous example of why America may fall into ruin. You know no facts, only the tired dogma of the left. For you to say that Clinton paid down Bush's debt is beyond ridiculous.
Seriously, if I did not have kids and grand kids, I would almost sit back with delight and watch as the leftist goons flush this country down the toliet. Kurt is a perfect example of the educational malpractice that has dumbed down entire generations, and Obama and Socialism is their reward.
As a Christian I realize that often we get what we deserve. As a country that was mightily blessed, we turned our backs on God, killed off millions and millions of babies, and told God to take a hike. Yup, we got what we deserved alright, Obama. I really don't know if the USA will ever recover. Obama may truly be the beginning of the end for the United States.
Also, I have to laugh at this constant attack on Halliburton and Dick Cheney. That is how come I know Kurt is utterly clueless, he has know idea of what Halliburton does, or has done, and the same for Dick Cheney. Gawd - the left is so stupid, the problem is, stupidity is rewarded nowadays, and that spells problems for the USA.
Two ideas for the economic recovery...
1. Cut corporate taxes to near nothing. This provides businesses the capital to expand their operations. Lets get this fact straight... jobs are not created because someone needs a job, they are created because there is a need for a good or service to be produced. By cutting taxes, the cost of the goods goes down because they do not need to charge as much to make the product. I know the libs do not see this as an advantage because there is less revenue coming into the government per item purchased, but the number of items purchased will go through the roof if this is allowed to take place.
2. Since we pretty much purchased the entire inventory of GM and Chrysler, we should get an tax break for the purchase of a new American Car. This not only will get the cars sold, but it gives the people that are actually stimulating the economy the ability to spend the money that the government has already promised to the other groups.
The other thing we need to do is to bring back personal responsiblity. I do not need to be responsible for my family along with yours. If I have extra money I am more likely to give it to you. But if the Government keeps taking away the extra money I do have, the less good I can do with it.
If you haven't heard about the New Hampshire House Resolution #6 (HCR6) re-affirming states rights based on the Jeffersionian Principals you should read up on it. We need more States to proclaim that we are the ones that gave the Federal Government it's power and we can take also it away.
Sam said...
"For you to say that Clinton paid down Bush's debt is beyond ridiculous."
Based on historical data of National debt as a percentage of GNP, the above statement seems misleading. Take a look at this graph...
http://zfacts.com/p/318.html
The data for the above graph displayed seems accurate based on government data and is available at...
http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/assets/omb...
The information suggests that while Republicans were president, our nations debt as a percentage of GNP skyrocketed under Reagan and Bush 1, made a downturn during Clinton's administration (reducing debt as a percentage of GNP), and took off again under Bush 2.
That's not the whole story of course as congress has something to do with budgets and spending. During the Clinton years, the congressional majority was Republican from 1995 on, and remained so until 2007, so during Clinton's administration, it could be argued that the Republican congress was responsible for the reduction in national debt as a percentage of GNP.
Again, I feel that it's not the whole story as another blogger mentioned a short time ago that numbers can be taken out of context and I agree. The president in office at the time spending is approved signs or vetos the legislation and is ultimately responsible for the pricetag, so it could be argued that Republican presidential leadership is to blame.
proudconserative mentions the idea of cutting taxes on GM and Chrysler vehicles to stimulate sales. Interesting idea, but what about Ford that hasn't asked for government money? Do we give them a tax break too to compete with the newly government "owned" vehicles, or because they ran their company at a level that didn't require government payouts, do they now get penalized? If every American made auto was given a tax break, that in effect would penalize Ford because the playing field was leveled due to government action and Ford's better management would be negated.
What is difficult for me to deal with is how divided these conversations become. Depending on which side of the fence you are sitting and who you believe is a reliable source for your argument, either side can be blamed for the entire mess. Conservatives say that liberals are stupid, and liberals say the Republicans don't have a clue. If your information comes from Rush and Fox News, you most likely have a conservative point of view. If you pay attention to the "liberal media" as most conservatives seem to refer most every other news source as, you will likely lean to the left. I still think that it's not nearly as black and white as either side would like to admit, and I feel it's these divisions that hurt us more than help when real solutions are needed.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/assets/omb... should be the second link... sorry!
I find it interesting and a little bit discouraging when people like Sameldridge find it necessary to bring out the negative buzzwords such as marxist, communist, socialist, and then continue on with personal attacks. This level of discourse brings nothing serious to the table at a time when our country is in serious trouble. I am sorry you find it necessary to stoop to these levels of personal attacks Sam and it must be difficult to find yourself in such a constrictive ideological straight jacket.
It might surprise you to know that I am neither a communist or a socialist. Nor do I take seriously anyone on the left or right, that frames every issue from whatever rigid ideological perspective they come from. On the contrary I love my country very much and am deeply disturbed by our lack of civil discourse at a time when we cannot afford such foolishness.
Brianhoag said it very well, and I thank him for his balanced perspective, "I still think that it's not nearly as black and white as either side would like to admit, and I feel it's these divisions that hurt us more than help when real solutions are needed."
Kurt,
Let me see, I recall that the Libs attacked some Conservatives mercilessly. Not just on a personal level, but they ramped it up to attacking their families, finances, tax status, and numerous other ways. Are you that thin skinned that you can't take a little criticism? Ask Sarah Palin & Joe the Plumber about personal attacks, for no apparent reason, other than the fact that their viewpoint differed from that of the Liberals. We, as Conservatives, also love our country, but are not willing to drive ourselves into such debt that it will take 100 years to recover from it, if at all. I'm sure that Sam didn't intend to paint ALL Liberals with the same brush, but the one's that are running the Congress at this time seem to have tunnel vision when it comes to spending OUR money. They want to call the Porkulus Bill bi- partisan, but won't accept any amendments from the Republicans at all.
It has always fascinated me that whenever you point out the truth about a leftist, it's a personal attack.
We just heard nothing but attacks from the left during the GW administration. They called him Hitler, and Algore screaming at the moveon.org convention that Bush "betrayed this country". Hillary screaming that patriotism was disagreeing with Bush. Algore, and Nancy Pelosi and others, going overseas to bad mouth our President during time of war.
John F'in Kerry calling Bush a cowboy. Jack Murtha, Dick Durbin and others saying that our soldiers committed war crimes, and on and on and on. Four eight years. Gimmie a break.
That is the problem with politics nowadays, when someone says something stupid, and I say, "hey, that's stupid", all of a sudden it's an attack.
I am sick of hearing the cliches of the left. Same old liberal handbook they've used for years. And now, we are to sit back while President Obama, a Socialist, tries to ruin the country to payback political favors? We are to sit back while Obama establishes a liberal oligarchy? I don't think so.
What is wrong with calling Obama and his gang Socialists? They are. The problem is most Americans really don't know what Socialism is, because they were taught how to put condoms on bananas in school instead of learning history.
My father served his country during WW2, and I have served and so has my son. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have died for this country. They mean more to me than Kurt's feelings.
John McCain was so busy correcting his supporters when they tried to tell the truth about Obama, that he forgot to run a campaign for President. Sorry, you guys can use the chap stick if you want to, it is a waste of time.
The only time the left is interested in compromise is when the conservatives do the compromising.
Brian.... I did say New American car, which would include Ford in that equation. Even though Toyota's are produced here in America, the corporation is based overseas and therefore would most likely not qualify.
Sam,
I didn't make the comments about Larry Craig or Clinton paying down George Herbert Walker Bush's debts. Those came from another blogger.
Relax a little brother....I don't really care for either the Republicans or the Democrats. As far as I am concerned none of them really give a darn about us little people.
Ok Kurt - I will relax. I admit I get intense. Let me shock you a bit. I am most disappointed in the Republicans during the Bush Years. They ran as conservatives, then forgot all about that when they got to Washington. The spent money like liberals, and failed to stand up to the liberal special interest.
They failed to take care of the failing Social Security program.
They tried to fight a kinder gentler war.
They failed to reform the abusive tax system.
They failed to free up our energy resources.
They failed to tackle the militant abortion industry.
They failed to put power back to the States, where it belongs.
They saddled us with a new expensive RX drug program.
They failed to secure the border, or deal with the illegal immigration problems.
Did I miss anything? LOL
Kurt, thanks for taking time to read and comment. Please don't ever take my intensity as anger. I appreciate your time, and I appreciate the privilege of debating folks I don't agree with.
I think it was comedian Gary Mule Deer who reported that his grandpa said, "If we all liked the same thing, every guy out there would want your grandma."
Sam,
I appreciate your candor and ability to laugh at yourself on occasion. In these "challenging" times it is important that we not get to worked up...although I admit it is a battle I fight every day lately. Now to shock you...I use to be a conservative Republican back when it stood for fiscal responsibility, states rights, individual rights and limited government. Needless to say I left that train after what has happened over the last 20-25 years.
I know that my positions on many issues of the day are different than yours as I am certainly more liberal. That doesn't mean that I agree with many of the positions of the Democratic party either. In reality I am disillusioned with both parties and the representatives on both sides of the aisle. I can take spirited debate of the issues of the day...I just can not understand the level of greed and lack of concern for our countries future that I see in these politicians today. Perhaps there are a few representatives in Washington with good intentions but they seem to get swallowed up by the system.
I guess our job is to finally hold them accountable. The voters of America disengaged themselves from the political process many years ago and now we can see the results of our lack of attention. Congratulations on calling your representative Ben Nelson. Regardless of the differences in our positions across the spectrum...democracy will only work if the people engage.
