Abrahan Lincoln said, "I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how he could look up into the heavens and say there is no God."

Leonardo Da Vinci said: "O Lord, thou givest us everything, at the price of effort."

Louis Pasteur said: "Science brings men closer to God," and "The more I study nature, the more I stand amazed at the work of the Creator."

John Locke said: "The visible marks of extraordinary wisdom and power appear so plainly in all the works of the creation, that a rational creature, who will but seriously reflect on them, cannot miss the discovery of a Deity."

George Washington said: "It is impossible to account for the creation of the universe without the agency of a Supreme Being."

Robert Browning said: "Of what I call God, And fools call Nature."

Ronald Reagan said: "If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be one nation gone under."

John Wayne said: "Life is hard; it's harder if you're stupid."

Thomas Jefferson Said: The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time."

Rudyard Kipling said: "Oh, East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet, Till Earth and Sky stand presently at God's great Judgement Seat."

I trust these folks a whole lot more than I trust anyone from the left. The left looks up to folks like Bill Marr, Rosie O'Barrell, and the perky Katie Couric. The left can have 'em!

Lincoln:

"The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession."

"It will not do to investigate the subject of religion too closely, as it is apt to lead to Infidelity."

Jefferson:

"The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the Supreme Being as his father, in the womb of a virgin, will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter."

Franklin:

"Lighthouses are more helpful than churches."

Einstein:

"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this."

Edison:

"Incurably religious, that is the best way to describe the mental condition of so many people."

I trust these folks a whole lot more than I trust anyone from the left too.

jhat,

That is the beauty of the gift of 'Choice.' You make yours, and I make mine.

I chose to play on God's team. Tag, your turn.

In messiah, His Shalom, and wisdom. Arley

I dwell in the secret place of the Most High whose power no foe can withstand. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress and on Him I lean and rely and In Him I confidently trust. Enough said.

You have incorrectly labeled your photo. It is the Ring Nebula, not the "Eye of God."

NavyBlue,

I wasn't saying there should not be a choice at all. The original post's intent was to present pro-religion quotes by great men against the anti-religious views of some modern celebrities.

The point of my reply was to display some anti-religious viewpoints held by great men (In some cases the SAME great men).

I'm only trying to point that arguing this point as an appeal to authority is not valid. There are many great figures of the past on BOTH sides (theists and atheists). And to compare the pro-religious views of George Washington with the anti-religious views of Rosie O'Donnell is intellectually dishonest.

I changed the name on the photo to the Ring Nebula, but how do YOU know it is not the Eye of God?

Unless the eye of God is a gas cloud emitted at the end of a Sun-like star's existence, I think we can say pretty conclusively say it's not God's eye, but an inter stellar cloud of matter.

it sure looks like an eye. in any case, i'm so glad to know that he watches over me. i'm His child, and i'm looking forward to spending eternity with Him. LIFE IS GOOD
