A Most Disgusting LiePosted Friday, August 7, 2009, at 11:02 PM
Over the last couple of weeks while most congressmen have been attempting to give us real reform for our health care system, there has been slowly but steady stream of misinformation coming out from other congressmen, news networks, and blogs about what is being offered in the bill.
Chief among them is the so-called is a single-payer option. There is no such mention of a single payer in any bill that is being worked on, but that hasn't stopped the extreme right from convincing people that there is. What IS on the table is what is called the public option. What this plan will do is give Americans a REAL choice in health care coverage. The system we have in place now is run by multimillion dollar companies that increase prices on premiums and cancel premiums if someone hasn't gotten sick, or just because they want to. The public option will give everyone a cheaper choice of coverage. It will help small businesses that can't afford the big business's plans cover their employees. If you are happy with the coverage you have, guess what you don't have to change. Whether or not it will truly bring prices down because of competition is still up for debate, but the one guarantee is that which a government option it will not cause these big conglomerates to go out of business. Another lie, being thrust upon Americans, is that the Canadian health system is huge failure. Granted it does have its faults, but overall it is a good system. It's much better than the system we currently have in place and the statistics bear that out. There are many more distortions and lies being propagated by the extreme right, but the worst lie, the nastiest, dare I say the most disgusting is the lie that under the current plan on the table, the government can at any time when the elderly, or as Sarah Palin put it, "those not being productive to society" decide when to euthanize them. There is not a shred of truth to what is being said, and I believe they know that they are lieing about it. It has been mentioned on the McCook Gazette blog as fact, and I believe that people trying to push this lie are absolutely despicable. There is not one place in any of the bills on the table at the present that even mention it, and yet the far right is touting it as fact. Here's my challenge, provide the information if it is truly in there. They can't because it's not there. The only provision that is even in the same universe is what is called "End of Life" discussions. Under the plan if a person or their family members have an end of life discussion with their doctor it will be covered and the doctor will be reimbursed. What happens in an end of life discussion? The parties involved discuss options for worst case scenarios. If a person goes to a doctor and says if I flat line continue to resuscitate me until you are to weak to move, that is an end of life discussion. They happen on a daily basis, they just are not covered. But these people who so want to derail anything that President Obama puts out there have no problem at all lying about what is actually in the bill. All they are interested in, are scare tactics and scaring people into submission. After all, if you tell a lie often enough and loud enough people will start believing it. Then there is the so-called protests going on across America at health care town halls. These are not protests but organized riots. Several senators have recieved death threats from these people, one has already been the victim of a beating, one (in a scene similar to street protests in Iran against the United States) senator was hung in effigy. They interrupt these town halls and shout down the congressmen and call them liars and then continue shouting them down when the congressmen make attempts to explain their attempts. Some will say that this is a grass roots event. That's another lie, these are well paid for events, that are being sponsored by the Republican Party. After all, the GOP, has no ideas, so the only thing they can think to do is shout down anyone else who has an idea. What is going on right now is a break down of a civil society and it is a scary notion. If we continue down this path, people will be killed. It has happened in every nation, and now it appears that America is at the precipice of it happening here. The far right likes to shout a lot about the Constitution being torn to shreds and yet they don't seem to have any problem what-so-ever trampling on everyone else's rights to protect their own. But the extreme right aren't the only ones guilty of this. The extreme left has had its moments in the past as well, but I just get this sick feeling that what we are seeing now is unprecedented. We are heading ever closer to a break in this country and if we hit that break EVERY American will feel it's full brunt. A Most Disgusting Lie
Republicans and the Far-Right Have Hit Rock Bottom
|
Michael Michael Michael
At least TRY to pretend that you are actually capable of thinking.
Pretty much the three responses I expected. Nothing new, no new ideas, same old tired right wings lies and distortions.
It is fact that we do NOT have the best health care system in the world. That is bore out by stats. Among developed countries we rank near the bottom in health care. Just saying that we do doesn't make it so.
Ah, Mr Eldridge, the man who copies and pastes all of his ideas from far right blogs criticizing me for not thinking for myself. Pot this is kettle calling, and you are black.
Michael - here is a new idea. Keep your government out of my healthcare.
You start off by saying "bill" singularly. I'm assuming you are focusing on the House bill -- which is a legislative nightmare; but what about the Senate bill? Obama doesn't even know what's IN the House bill - he said so himself. So it's a good idea...why?
You tout the 'clunkers for cash' being this huge success -- but in fact it is not successful. The system implemented to pay for these trades got bogged down so quickly that the entire system shut down. Car dealers are stuck in the middle with old cars on their lot -- and their expensive inventory out in the hands of the public, who in the end may not be able to keep or afford these new vehicles. Point is...government couldn't handle the simple transaction of a car trade-in. And you want them to take on managing my families health. I think you know what you can do with that.
Then you lie about there not being efforts to advance a 'single-payor' system. This is what Obama has been talking about for the better part of a decade. Pull your nose out of the rosebud, bud. The goddess of banking, Barney Frank, and the evil Yodette, Pelosi, have espoused single payor as the goal. Are you calling them a liar? You know -- Obama wants us to report your 'misinformation' to him. Then it was the big BO himself who advocated to that unfortunate woman that her grandmother just "take the pill" and endure her malady until death. Obama doesn't value life in the womb, freshly out of the womb and he certainly doesn't value people close to the end of their life experience. Your feasance to him says alot about your own character.
See - you leftys start out with the premise that healthcare is a "right" and then start working from the center, as opposed to the edge, in the attempt to instill a program that people neither want nor need.
First of all - healthcare is not a right. You have to go back to the Bill of Rights to get on top of this one. Then you have to actually read the part that the rights given to all men by God are "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". Healthcare is a service. And as most services go, it has value, and thus, people who want it; will pay for it. Just for you I will explain it further so you may understand. When you are hungry, you have the option to go to the supermarket and select food; where some assembly for a meal is required. Or you can go to McDonalds and get your happy meal, in which case it's all made for you.
Which is the better value? Obviously going to the supermarket. However, McDonalds offers convenience so you would end up paying more for that. Healthcare is the same way. In this country right now, you can take the value i.e. an HSA option of coverage; or you can take the HMO with dental and vision and pay a higher premium. Either way - it is YOUR responsibility to be accountable for your own healthcare and your own choices. Your tired argument about the "uninsured" and the "underinsured" in this country is pure rhetoric, and entirely beside the point. Any person seeking aid in any American hospital emergency room cannot be denied access to healthcare. ANY person -- citizen, non-citizen and the like.
Statistics show that most people, including most Democrats, don't want their coverage changed. And in the House bill - any change in your current health coverage will prompt an immediate mandate to sign up for the public option. If you don't, you get a hefty tax penalty. And what's more, the gov't has access to your bank account to pay for this plan that you didn't choose and probably don't want.
MY challenge to YOU, sir -- which I know you will not take; is to provide proof that these town hall meetings are funded by the Republican Party. I further challenge you to provide proof that these meetings are organized at anything but the local level. The lions share of the protesting you have read and heard about is being done by Americans who belong to the Democrat party. But let's drop party lines shall we? Let's just say that the protesting is being done by Americans. And as Hillary Clinton screeched in 2003 -- we are Americans and we have the right to disagree with ANY administration. Your caveat has been issued.
You should really try to stick with something you know about. Puff pieces for local National Parks.
Sceptre - Michael can't let the reading of the bill get into the way of his Lefty talking points.
You should know by now that he's on an eternal sunshine trip because the big BO is his sugar-daddy.
Mickel:
Government has been INTIMATELY involved in American health care for decades, mostly via regulation.
And now that all that regulation has resulted in higher costs and more bureaucracy, many people can't afford the health care they need.
So, CLEARLY, the answer must be MORE government involvement.....
I have said all along the only way to truly reform something like this is get government the hell out of it and let the health care industry compete for business like the rest of us do, well the rest of us other than government workers, teachers, and do forth.
I think that if the health care crooks had to compete for business among the general population it would actully lead to lower costs and better service for. '
Liberals won't ever do that because then they wouldn't have any reason to have their hands in the pockets of the insurance lobbyists and the big pharma.
Mike, you try to sould so smart with your rediculous argument.
The only problem with is that just like a politician you only see your side of the correct side. This health issue transcends politics and government. There is a fundamental problem with the way that health care is distributed. It shouldn't be any different than the way any other product or service is sold and distributed in this country.
You fail to even understand free market competition because you're a liberal appologist.
This has nothing to do with repulicans and democrats. funny thing is that state run media has been lashing out at the 70%+ Americans that are getting upset that washington is not listening to it's peiople over this and wouldn't you know it....here comes Mike with the blog entry I knew was coming. It's like a CNN echo here!
In Vancouver BC. Have seen more street beggers than in NYC. Also have seen more commercials for Gala's and help this special need person or that special need person.
Canada seems to have more need for charity than the United States.
Just an eyewitness observation.
Part 1.
Problems :
1. No systematic, expansive Prevention & Wellness Program.
According to the scoring of CBO on the prevention & wellness program, all fitness centers around the world should close down immediately and all media have to end
reporting health tips about prevention. Rather, all of the excellent health systems seem to have one feature in common, a expansive, systematic preventative program
requiring immense investments.
I think a prevention system works as a 'levee' built against flood by the government, similarly, it also needs non-profit investments from the government 'on a large scale'.
This might offer us one clue of why all of the free states have public insurance policy in place.
Surprisingly enough, the system today is designed around treating patients once they become sick. As far as I'm concerned, the congress affected by the special interests
has turned down the budget request for prevention program in Medicare & Medicaid, which are the most expensive parts of the health program. Let's imagine the astronomical
costs and invaluable lives following the levee breach.
2. A pay for each service / volume compensation, & No E-Medical Record.
As much as 30 percent of all health-care spending in the U.S. -some $700 billion a year- may be wasted on tests and treatments that do not improve the health of the
recipients, and this 700 billion dollars a year can cover a lot of uninsured people, in return, it could lessen the tragic, prohibitive ER cares.
Medical errors ( No e-Medical Record ) & lawsuits, more profits motive, and indirect payments from employers etc would account for it.
Supposedly, 'a pay for each service / volume' compensation seems to leave the medical institutes unequipped with the essential IT system. To understand its importance, If
we imagine the cost difference between the previous and current system in financial institutes, the magnitude of cost-savings and the mess in health care system can
be easily explained.
3. Premium Inflation.
This last spring, due to the demand decrease, the peak fuel price came down below $40 per barrel, though, the
'Similar' insurance premiums keep on rising, accordingly the inaction could bankrupt family, business, and
government 'BEYOND this recession' , as all across the spectrum agree.
Basically, as demand diminish, the price tends to reflect it, nonetheless, the insurers that formed a cartel through
consolidation have replenished the loss by exercising inhumane malpractices involving denying, capping, rapid
premium increase and the like. And this runaway premium ended up in the collapse of middle
class ranging ' from finance to mental health' , alongside the peak fuel price and fast-growing mortgage rate, as all of
us know. Thereby they could be cited as an objective for anti-trust or anti-corruption. If the public plan sets the same rate of the insurers, it will be another headache.
Ironically, the Deficit-sensitive groups have a distinctive common ground, they all have a Deficit-driven background out of
question. Therefore, I'd say they have nothing to say about deficit unless they are free from the sponsors.
And the spoiled menu, 'Takeover and Rationing Cliche' is still marching for bankruptcy, as opposed to its motto.
4. 'Work or Break' health system with no brake or safety system.
Just like marriage, economy also undergoes up and down, however, economic downturn is not reflected in the employment-based system.
The rising mental stress or illness & 'keep eating habit' , which are the epicenter of a number of different diseases, might be traced
to this insecure system and exorbitant premiums.
Part 2.
The Public Plan:
1. Thankfully, the health care reform bill currently before Congress makes several key investments including more primary care doctors in preventive care, and those pieces
of the public plan must be maintained .
2. The pay for 'Outcome' pack is most likely to expedite the introduction of Health Care IT SYSTEM, and it will help doctors focus on their patients.
3. The 'innovative' idea of a 'pay for value / outcome' pack will allow for Quality and affordability
. If you are a physician, and your pay is dependant upon your patient's outcome, you will most likely strive to
prescribe the best medicine earlier in the process, let alone skipping the wasteful, unnecessary risk-carrying
procedures.
4. The synergy effect of the combined Health Care IT & a pay for 'outcome' system may allow the clinicians to
'correctly' diagnose and effectively treat a patient earlier in the process so that it can measurably decrease the
crushing lawsuits and deter the excuse for unnecessary cares to make fortunes.
5. The creative idea of 'a pay for outcome' will more likely prompt team approach and decision, as at Myo clinic.
Under the 'pay for outcome' pack, for good reason, best practices as 'recommendations' would simply help them
make a better decision, and the government won't still have to meddle in the final, actual decision-making
process as a non-expert.
6. This New 'Payment Reform' could accelerate the progress in medical science, in return, it will save more cash.
And this idea will be able to bring 'competition' to the private market, as a result, it can contribute to mitigating premium inflation.
7. Supporters of the agreement say it could save the Medicare System more than $100 billion a year and 'improve'
care, that means more than $1trillian over next decade, and virtually needs no other resources including tax on the
wealthiest. Supposedly even the 'conservative' number of such savings might be able to meet the objective of revenue-neutral.
(Please visit http://www.kare11.com/news/news_article.... for detailed infos).
8. Through clinic's network, users of its health-care services can keep up with their health information and information for family members, and receive health guidance and
recommendations from clinic that is optimized for each person.
The system also allows patients to upload information from home-health devices such as blood glucose monitors and digital scales. Patients can authorize whether they
want to share their health information with doctors or other caregivers, and those caregivers can provide health-care and general wellness recommendations based on the
information patients provide.
9. In case the health care reform provides the general public with peace of mind, the rising mental stress, obesity caused by the insecure system and
exorbitant premiums may bend the curve surprisingly.
10. Clearly, the positive impacts involving massive job creation, promising stem cell research, several times more economic effects of 'from bed to work' lie ahead, these will
lead to economic recovery.
Part 3.
Conclusion ;
1. The last thing to expect is rallying for premium inflation
2. Over time, supposedly, the public plan will concentrate more on basic, primary cares, and the private insurers will provide their clients with differentiated services.
3. With the Prevention & Wellness Program as a stable levee in place, the promising pay for value/ outcome reimbursement reform based on IT system could clear the way for revenue-neutral. Some say the installation of IT network will take time, but once this new outcome-based payment system is implemented, the hospitals reluctant to adopt it will most likely rush to introduce it.
4. The final hurdle looks like a scoring issue surrounding the savings on Prevention & Wellness Program, but I'd like to say
health clubs and media reports on prevention tips must be maintained.
Thank You !
Not surprisingly I call out their lie and their attempts to push the lie and my character and intelligence gets attacked.
Ladies and gentlemen, the extreme right. When their position is challenged, instead of attempting to clarify their position they attack everything about the challenger.
Wow Scepter nice job with the copy and paste. And it's interesting that the only credit you give is to a supposed DC airport ticket agent. In the real world it's called plagiarism. In blog world it's called copy and paste.
Of course the story is fake but hey you have slandering to do, so why should the truth get in the way.
Nicely done.
mike, i see you conveniently ignore the challenge by mickel. The purpose?
doodle bug - He can't manufacture evidence that will actually hold up to scrutiny. He cannot do much more than bluster and criticize; which is why he can be very successful writing puff pieces for National Parks - but really tanks it when it comes to truth and facts.
hsr0601
Your post resembles a bill being considered in Congress, it is so long no one wants to read it.
Steffanie,
Not sure if you realize it, perhaps you could refer to an atlas but Vancouver BC is a bit far for NYC to be flying their homeless out of the country.
Mickel I would love the polls you are seeing that say most Democrats don't want changes to health care. The last two polls asked of Americans showed that 70% want a change to health care.
FreedomWorks, which rose money and sponsored the Tea Parties, is one of the groups behind the supposed ground swell of protesters.
But my point which you either chose to ignore or didn't read is the way that the protests are occurring. At these events, the publicy shout down the congress person in an effort to keep them from speaking. They call anyone who opposes them Hitler or the SS or something similar to Nazism, which shows they do not know their history as the Nazi Party was a far right group.
Their leaders continue to lie about what's in the bill, though none of them have taken the time to actually investigate what is in the bill (they are similar to those that protest a movie, an album, a book, or a game, because of what they have heard about it but never take the time to actually take the action to find out what is in it. Have I read the entire bill, no. But that's not important here, after all, those who have opposed the bill and those who support it, haven't read it either, they just go on what other people are saying about the bill. But I have taken the time to read the parts that are being criticized the most. There is no mention anywhere of euthanasia at all, but that hasn't stopped the big wigs of the GOP from saying it is and it's already made it down to the town hall meetings.
The GOP doesn't know how to tell the truth and it's biting them in butt as we speak. People seem to forget that the cameras are always rolling and that what they say can be back checked.
It's really interesting though those who are caught lying sometimes choose to continue lying even after they have been provided with what they say will turn around and deny saying what's on record.
As a healthcare worker, I am familiar with the burden added by the current government involvement.
Just for example, my specific area now spends $2000 EVERY MONTH for a procedure that used to be done annually.
Now, if we'd had any testing revealing a need for to increase the numbers of these procedures, I'd be all for it. Patient safety is #1. However, the test results have remained exactly the same whether we sanitize annually, quarterly, or monthly...yet we are forced to spend 11 times the necessary amount of money completely due to government regulations...with absolutely NO BENEFIT TO OUR PATIENTS.
I have seen similar insanity rule repeatedly during the 15 years I've worked in healthcare. There are 2 things that drive the insane expense...the government, and the fear of a law suit.
The best way to rein in healthcare costs is to make patients into savvy consumers...NOT to let Uncle Sam continue to force "his" opinions on the nation as a whole.
>>>From your column, Mike, it's completely obvious that you've NOT READ the parts of the bill QUOTED by those "misleading" e-mails, nor taken the time to review the results of similar language in current law.
The facts are NOT those touted by the shut-up-and-take-my-word-for-it Democrats.
Pelosi can claim that we all wear swastikas, but it doesn't change the fact that our current Democratic-run government is far more fascist than the grassroots organizations that oppose their tactics and lies.
What a suprise. Mike can tell lies and it's okay since he's a progressive liberal. Conservatives can only tell bad lies as we are not far removed from Nazism.
Mike, I hardly believe you have read the bill as no one in Washington has even read the whole thing. Please don't lie.
The tea party I went to was not sponsored by any particular group, please stop lying! Is that all you know how to do?
Your assessment of this bill is weak at best. You read the parts you wanted to read, what 8 pages out of 1300? What a joke! Now you are an expert on the matter huh? Wow!
You are still under the cloud of blissful ignorance in thinking that your government is only looking out for your best interest. I don;t think that someone that naive should be teadching kids at all. Wake up bonehead!
Republicans and Democrats alike are not going to do anything with a bill that might hit them in the wallet personally. I charge that all these crooks in Washington are taking money from lobbyists in the healthcare and pharma industries to do whatever is going to net them the most money under the table.
If it weren't for the big money to buy big houses and big yacths, we would see government completely get out of the healthcare business and let the free market take over and then we would see the competition we need to drive down prices and increase quality of service.
I really don't expect you to understand this as you are somewhat of a public servant in the teaching industry and you guys are just like any other unionized labor sector these days that don't know a damn thing about competition driven industry and how that keeps price in check and keeps people working hard to increase customer service.
It's a whole different world out there when you're not protected by the government assisited labor unions and government wages. If you were in competition with other teachers to give your students the best education for their success, and you had to actually compete for students or you'd be out of a job, I know you would look at things differently.
Health care needs to be a free market. We don't need insurance companies and we sure as shit don't need employee provided health care. That and Medicare is what's responsible for the astronomically high prices we have now.
More government will surely be disasterous as it usually is when they get involved. I sure don't want a congress hack like Nancy Pelosi deciding what health care my kids should get out here in Nebraska, when I'm sure the kids in San Fran will be taken care of very well. this is the kind of crap we have to put up with right now.
What the hell do these people know about anything anyway? You are a misinformed boob if you really believe they will "govern" with our health in mind and not their wallets as it is the lobbyist that shape legislation more than the American people.
Your take on the polls is hillarious Mike. It seems to me that as many people I see, hear, hear about, and read about that are stark raving mad about the possiblility of this bill being passed, there wouldn't be a whopping 70% of people approving it.
The presidents ratings are plummeting since he took up this torch to carry and I think that is a big indicator of what people want. Who the hell are they polling anyway? I'm thinking with 70% of the nation already covered with insurance, these people wouldn't want something worse! Who are these 70% of Amercians anyway? Are they even alive?
You keep watching CNN and MSNBC to see what they want you to say to us Nazis about your health care rationing and how we're all just a bunch of nutty idiots that can only tell lies...digustng lies that is.
Mrs. Smith,
Thank you for your insight. it is refreshing. I agree rates for services need to be posted and the multiple rates used for all the Managed Care system should be divulged as well. That way we as consumers can shop around and get the best price and see the markdowns given to major insurance companies based on their "volume" discounts. However, as consumers where else can you go to get healthcare if you do not like the prices in McCook. There is only one hospital and it is without competition. So it may be well and good to encourage consumer choice and I agree fees should be posted at the checkin desk so a patient knows what a visit will cost, reality is the healthcare service is a monopoly and needs government oversight.
mike, the "shout downs" you mention are only appropriate when done by liberals to conservatives? and you have the nerve to complain about hypocrisy. that is really rich!
Thanks Stef, if anything you are entertaining.
Mike,
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you are someone who is going to benefit from all this "free" healthcare.
As someone who is more likely to pay for your "free" health insurance...have a colonoscopy on me...and take this bill with you.
By the way...no conservative group has sponsored my comment.
Husker23
Actually offering a free colonoscopy is a great preventive idea. It may reduce higher costs if problem areas go undetected and more serious costs are incurred.
The government not only covers end of life counseling, they demand it. Hence, the reason it is mandatory every 5 years. Now, if someone wants to receive counseling for end of life discussions then that's one thing but requiring them to do it is another beast, entirely. Forcing that requirement on people strips them of their right to decide what they do or don't want to talk about. This would eliminate the "guilt-trap" that Senator Ellison is so worried about. To hear him describe someone who wants to keep their parents alive as being caught in a "guilt-trap" is frightening when it comes from someone promoting this bill.
You can continue to think these protesters are just part of some massive Republican conspiracy. That's just fine by me, because every time these people hear someone say that it upsets them which in turn upsets their friends and family who actually know these people. Demonizing these people because you think they are part of an organized movement is destined to backfire because it's an argument you can't win. They are there of their own free will and initiative and they know it despite your accusations.
However, I'd like to address your concern anyway. Even if they were part of an organized movement, what would be so wrong with that. Last time I checked the right to assemble was still encouraged. We'll say it's just the Republican party putting ALL these people together. They send an e-mail telling people when and where their representative's town hall is taking place and encourage them to attend to have their concerns addressed. Isn't that what everyone on both sides wants to do... address people's concerns. Do people scream and yell? You bet they do, they're upset.
If a politician wants to whine because crowds are yelling at them then they need to get out of politics. Crowds in this country have done that to politicians regularly for hundreds of years but only now does it "not allow healthy dialogue". When you make a decision that people don't like and they show up angry and yelling at you, you better be able to handle it because that's still part of the job. Representatives are not too good to get a good butt-chewing from their constituents when their constituents aren't happy. If a person shows up to one of these things and happens to be a Republican then they are accused of being sent by someone else. People shouldn't have to worry about having their concerns taken seriously because of their party affiliation. A real leader can address these peoples' concerns and direct the meeting in a productive direction regardless of the crowd's decibel level or agitation. Most representatives just give up or lose it and yell back at the crowds. Both of which are signs of extremely weak leaders.
Someone hung in effigy, you say? Where have I seen that before? Oh yeah! They did that to Sarah Palin during the campaign. But I know I've seen it somewhere else... that's right, high school bonfires during homecoming. Those sick kids promoting such hate for an educational institution. I'm sure they're all terrible people too.
Perhaps you found more info on the attack you mentioned than I did. I only found that it was a "freshman democrat" with no name. Could you please post the name of that person if you have it? Of course, it is not the only attack. There was a report of an attack against a man by SEIU thugs. Now, wait a minute, union thugs at a town hall beating up someone who opposes policies and/or people supported by the SEIU? That, Mrs. Pelosi and Mr. Hoyer is Un-American. Perhaps the Democrats should remove the log from their eye before they try removing the sliver from everyone else's eye. Especially, when you start preaching about people only showing up because some organization told them to.
http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forum...
Now nancy Pelosi has the BALLS to tell us we are un-American for shouting at our crook in DC for crap bills we DO NOT want or NEED!?!?!?
I'l tell you what is American:
Standing up for your belief and NOT wanting to be ruled by a Autoritarian government. Our Ancestors took this belief to create an uprising and revolt that led to our freedom from British rule.
What we have today is a largely crooked and broken system of our so called representaives taking money on every corner from organizations and companies to force legslation down our throats that will only benefit them.
We only have the right to vote for who ends up on the ballot. The only ones who will end up on the ballots are the ones with connections and money from the right people.
We have an environment right now that spells disaster for certian people. The American people are tired of being "RULED" by DC. We want our state powers back and we want the people's power back.
THAT is American!
Pelosi is so out of touch there's no wonder she needs a private jet you and I will pay for. She needs to escape to a foreign country where she feels at home. This is not her home and she is not alone.
I say these protestors are very American. I say that militia bloodshed could be American if that's what it takes to take back the country from corrupt politicians. It has worked before and as far as I know, the world isn't over yet, there will be more to write in the history books for generations to come.
If we can't elect people that will share our vision for the country, then what other alternative do we have but to lash out. The civil rights movement didn't get going or noticed until if got violent, then people noticed. Do you think anything would be differernt today if it had not been for the violence that woke this nation up? Those people were sick and tired of being taken advantage of and not cared about.
I think many many Americans feel the same way about our government as I do. We feel taken advantage of while these crooks live cushy lives and travel the world with their families all under the guise of taking care of the American people.
Well, I'm sick and tired of it, and I sure as hell am not alone. This public uprising is just the begining and it won't get any prettier I can guarantee it.
For those of you that don't know buffalochip gets a daily colonoscopy from his partner hunk. That is when hunk isn't in the jacket.
Ahhh, the world is so much better off having Steffanie in it. Thank you for your comments. They are so insightful.
Well, I'm sick and tired of it, and I sure as hell am not alone. This public uprising is just the begining and it won't get any prettier I can guarantee it.
So what are you proposing. Are you another bag of hot air or you going to do something? What do you propose to resolve your anguish? NAG, nag, nag!
The current health reform proposals are poorly done and should be voted down. They really do not solve anything and create many more concerning issues. I hope they put off this ill advised reform and start over and get agreement from all sides of the changes needed.
well buff, i whole-heartedly agree with your post re current health reform proposals. i doubt we would agree on the direction, but we can agree that it needs to be done.
HEY!!!!!!!!!! while i'm at it!! congrats to sam and mike; to sam for bringing out the vitriol from the left and to mike for bringing out the vitriol from the right.
Let us not forget:
One nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
At least perhaps we can find some agreement and not focus on ongoing flamethrowing divisionary tactics. Also doodle bug, don't make assumptions on my political affiliations.
Buff,
You are correct regarding the preventative detection. Although the surgery to remove one's head before performing the colonoscopy also has it's benefits.
Buff,
What are you doing? I am going to rallies, tea parties, etc. every chance I get. I'm also e-mailing my representatives on a weekly basis.
Also trying to educate other around me with my experience and how big government will screw us all to "help" a few.
Thanks for asking BTW.
I ask you passivists, what ever will happen to this country if we just lay around and let government do what they please? That scares me more than anything.
I we don't stand for something we'll fall for anything.
It's not easy doing what I do. I take a lot of shi% from people that would rather just lay down and take it in the rear. I refuse! This is OUR country, not the politicians. They work for us, not the other way around.
The astronomically never before seen spending and legislating here lately has provided a wake up call to many Americans. No one wanted this. The people who thought Obama was the answer to everything are worse off now than they were before and he's not even the real problem.
And before Mike whines "where were you guys when Bush was spending money?" I say, Bush NEVER spent this kind of money. It takes a pretty big feat to spend more $$ in 6 months than all admins beofre you combined.
Maybe the facts were not laid out on the table for all to see about the level of government waste and obscene spending as it is now that we are all forced to cut our own wages and spend less, while the government increases it's own spending and loosens it's belt to take on more fat!
That should be enough to make most people sick to their stomachs!
I have a better disgusting lie for you all. The lie that is being perpetuated by the loons on the left that the Americans that are showing up and voicing their concerns loudly to their elected crooks are being paid for by right wing conspiritors.
What a laughable attempt to disguise the new propaganda machine that is no doubt being implemented by Rahmbo to send and infantry of "yesmen" to these very same meeting to make it look like the majority of the country is in favor of what DC is up to.
What a bunch of lying hypocrates. It's gonna be hard for you tell anybody anything these days Mike. You're lying for a bunch of career liars and we all see it. You goofs in your liberal chat rooms may think you've got a cat by the tail but you're wrong. In the next 3 years after mid terms and the next election, you'll know what you're up against. It likely won't be what you think the GOP is now, but it will be something different....I have a feeling.
You are welcome chip. I may let hunk out early due to your politeness. I am sure you are getting a little needy by now.
Perhaps we should communicate off line.
Gosh Justin, collabrate with Sam, Sceptre, and McCook 1 and write a book. It should be a best seller and money maker based on your analysis of support for your rants. As I said earlier, do something! Oh I went to a really nasty tea party, well goody for you.
What the hell is the deal Buff? Your comments are getting pretty arrogant. You must have thought I was just one of the people who sit around and moan and groan with no action or plan. I'm sorry to have rained on your insulting parade, but some people actually do get involved. I'm very involved with the future and success of my community and country. I'll be damned if I'll let you sit here and berate my efforts. It's a lot more than some people are willing to do and it comes at a cost to me for the time it takes away from other things, but I believe my country is worth fighting for and I'll do whatever I can to make not only my words heard from clerar out here in small town Nebraska, but also the people in my community that have similar concerns and my not want to get as involved as I do.
I'm not going to collaborate with anyone because there are few people who can actually get away from party affiliation. I am not appologizing for any politiacal party, as Mike does. I see both parties commiting crimes and hypocracy at the expense (litterally and figuratively) of the American people.
I'm not going to defend everything teh GOP does just because they are supposedly the party of conservative values. That remains to be seen in many areas. None of us should. The trajedy with the political word today is that people are so appologetic for their affiliated party, they'll say anything to defend it...see Mike's blog for the last... well ever since he stared it as my case in point.
I believe we are in need of fundamental change and upheaval to get rid of bad "career" politicians that are bilking the country blind.
I'm sure you know all about the tea parties as you were clearly not at any of them I attended so how is it that you can comment on the agenda or the mood? That is really interesting. Sounds a little arrogant to me.
Justin,
I love the passion skywalker. Very nice.
As has been pointed out, there is NO monopoly on healthcare. Anyone who does not like their current doctor/pharmacy/hospital can simply go elsewhere.
It's FAR TOUGHER to move your government services to another provider, isn't it? Having been a military dependent for a few years, I saw the results of Uncle Sam's medical services firsthand.
Some military doctors are fantastic...but many are in the military BECAUSE they could never make it in a non-monopoly practice.
When all doctors are on Uncle Sam's salary charts, and they are paid exactly the same whether or not you have tests run, whether or not you have treatments, regardless of anything they do...how many of them are going to work 14 hour days and kill themselves trying to save your life?
Look to Massachusetts, they are considering exactly this scheme. They're SURE that with enough GOVERNMENT OVERSIGHT they can make sure the doctors will not skimp too much on your care.
If socialized medicine worked AT ALL, then why do Canadian women so often have their babies here? Canada actually PAYS THE US to birth most of their premature babies because they CAN'T AFFORD to maintain enough nursery equipment for them.
If it worked in the UK, then we wouldn't be hearing stories of 40+ year old smokers being denied procedures like joint replacements...because there is no point spending money on someone who'll just die in 20 or 30 years anyway.
Our federal govennment is already the largest black hole in our economy...giving Uncle Sam even more power and more control over our money is incredibly stupid.
I know this off subject; I'm hoping Mike will write something in the future blasting all of us who dare to drive a gas-buring auto, but I want to know some stats on the new Volt car GM is introducing. Really any electric car for that matter. I would to know, just how much carbon they really do offset considering the fact that it takes really dirty coal-buring plants to make the juice that powers these little planet savers.
I would like to get the facts from independent sources not the government who will no doubt be selling these cars HARD for GM....wonder why....
Belle,
I'm just as unhappy about the government taking over Chrysler and GM and want it to end. Of course, that won't happen if people stop buying their vehicles. If they can make some money, pay off their debt to the government and get back to being 100% private then they can do whatever they want with their company. If you want the government to continue their stranglehold on these companies then by all means continue your little boycott of them. Personally, I want GM and Chrysler out of government hands so I refuse to boycott them but if that's what you want then so be it.
Chrysler was bailed out once before and was returned to private ownership. I just don't give up as easily as you do. Do you have a better plan and by a better plan I mean one that will actually work? The people who abandon Chrysler and GM because of the bailout are actually doing more harm to the companies than the government did because the worse they do the more taxpayer money the government will throw into them. Thinking problems through thoroughly... it's great, you should try it sometime. I can give you some tips maybe over a taco.
It's funny you say you prefer non-liberal company yet your opposition to GM and Chrysler's vehicles would cause them to become more dependent on the government thus expanding the government just as the liberals want. You say you're conservative yet you don't even realize that you're supporting liberal objectives because you lack the ability to comprehend consequences.
Amtrak like Rural Air Service is most important to rural areas but if you're in favor of promoting the bigger cities you're free to do so. I just think that we need to take care of our rural communities and not look at programs that only benefit the largest population centers.
Last time I checked nobody used FedEx or UPS for the hundreds of millions of letters that are sent each year. Of course, you must think the US Post Office must be just another "liberal" agency that the Continental Congress came up with so they could appoint the super liberal Benjamin Franklin as the Postmaster General. The same liberal guy who came up with the cut up snake with the words "Join or Die" underneath it which has now been altered to say "Don't Tread On Me", helped draft the Declaration of Independence, organized the Pennsylvania Militia, wrote the book "Rules By Which a Great Empire May Be Reduced to a Small One" and he was even an abolitionist to boot. It's one thing to oppose liberalism but it's quite another to criticize it and not even recognize the hypocrisy of your own criticism when your position actually supports liberal principles.
That's what you're doing though. If these companies can't make money in the market then they're going to make it off the taxpayers through continued bailouts. I'm sure you used up all your intellect in learning how to prepare tacos and burritos so explaining the consequences of government intervention in a free market to you would be like explaining physics to a knat. You obviously don't want GM and Chrysler to be freed from government control, you just want sit around and moan that they were taken over.
Born and raised right here in Nebraska. However, I don't have anything against people for being from Massachussets. You might despise Patton, Bush 41 and 43, Sam Adams, Paul Revere, John Cena, and Alexander Graham Bell to name a few of the people you must despise because of the state they came from. I, on the other hand, hold no such predisposition to judging them based on their state.
Mike,
Why can't we just set a goal for reform in 2 years? Why did we need to set it for now???
If you add 43 million to a "program" there will be losers to offset the winners. Something that will impact so many people needs to be done right. Unlike the stimulus bill which the President himself said was not perfect.
Just remember by approving the stim bill that was supposed to keep unemployment below 9%. That was an unqualified statement used to get a bill passed quickly. We need to evaluate the data and get this right. Otherwise it will divide us on this issue for another 16 years.
Just read where PBHO reached out to the clergy to help boost his government owned health care plan. Talk about a separation of church and state violation, (if there ever really was one). Any peep from the liberal crybabies? Of course not, they're hypocrites.
All these people who have read "Obama's Health Reform Bill" are hilarious.
To use Sam and Sceptre's vocabularies -- There ain't no Obama Health Care Bill.
There are three House bills reported out of committee and one Senate bill reported out of committee, with the Senate Finance Committee bill still in committee.
Wednesday night President Obama detailed what he hopes to see arriving on his desk to be signed into law.
Leaving one job and going to another will not force anyone into the public option plan.
WHY?
Read all four of the bills reported out of committee -- Movement from one employer's group health program to the next employer's group health program will be automatic -- with no uninsured gap, unless you take more than a month to make the move.
That's one major legal change in every bill.
Another -- No more denying coverage because of pre-existing conditions.
Another -- No taking premiums for 35 years and then canceling when the premium payer gets sick or injured.
Another -- No annual or lifetime benefits caps in any health insurance policy.
Another -- No taxpayer money to be spent for abortions.
Another -- No taxpayer money to be spent for any undocumented aliens. None -- Nada -- Not even poquito!!
In case you haven't noticed, Medicare does not pick doctors. The patients pick their own doctors. [Unlike the last several private insurance companies I had coverage with -- Where I could never go to my doctor of choice, but had to accept a different doctor with every insurance company.]
The only government run program which chooses doctors and other "providers" for the patient is the V.A. Medical Service -- and as a 12-year VA enrollee, I will swear to better care than I received the previous 12 years with an expensive private insurance policy.
The VA service slipped consideraly fom 2002 to this past February.
But since February, it has been rebuilt to the original quality and VA directors have been ordered to be damn certain the more recent veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan are cared for properly.
Huge efforts are being made to treat their stress conditions, which were studiously ignored by DUBYAH and the DRAFT DODGERS.
Sam,Sceptre and Stephanie, your bigoted racial hatred for President Obama blinds you to facts.
The knowledgable authorities rate him as a "...moderate LEADER who is almost totally market driven."
He strives to assist the free market in every area to function honestly and effectively.
His determination to let the market succeed has the Liberal wing of his own party screaming frantically.
Unlike DUBYAN and the DRAFT DODGERS, he will not allow banks and insurance companies to run wild, squandering this nation's wealth and devastating the middle class.
How many lost homes, farms, businesses and jobs does it require for you to realize George Herbert Walker Bush and George DUBYAH Bush were a disaster. Roughly $20-TRILLION combined national debt with principle and interest.
We were losing 700,000 jobs monthly from September to January with DubYah Bush.
Now President Obama's administration has that loss cut back to 200,000 lost jobs monthly, the foreclosure rate has decreased sharply and business closures are slowing.
We could see 500 banks closed this year in a hangover from the Bush failures, but except for the Obama Administration and the Federal Reserve with Ben Bernake as Chairman, the world's banking system would have collapsed.
Sam wrote his last blog just prior to his speech before the joint session of Congress.
Typically applying your semi-educated gearjammer's intellect to prejudging everything.
Try studying the facts and shove the spurious political philosophy for once.
You are a truck driver, with fantasy based opinions.
You show in your thinking that you have never met a serious payroll, built a serious business, negotiated a million-dollar contract or organized an effective employee benefit program.
[I executed a $7.5-Million contract in May before my 28th birthday and negotiated a combined $12.8-Million bulk business sale eight months later. Just another "commie" day at the office.]
The uber-conservatives cannot rationally discuss or debate any political philosophy or principles, constantly reducing your argument to name calling and attacks.
Anyone these propogandists differ with is seven kinds of dirty names, usually with the classifications diametrically opposed -- but they consider their thinking to be reasonable.
Sam's political thinking is not even coherent -- and tragically if possible, Sceptre is an even more complete disaster. Get over it, a mixed-race man who identifies himself as black, because that is the way he was treated as a child, was ELECTED PRESIDENT BY A STRONG MAJORITY OF POPULAR VOTES AND ELECTORAL COLLEGE COUNT.
Unlike his predecessor, who held office based upon two clearly stolen elections -- One with 250,000 votes shifted in Florida, the other with more than 300,000 Ohio voters prevented from casting their votes.
Strangely, in both GOP-dominated states, the disenfranchised voters were primarily Democratic.
Billionaire T. Boone Pickens (a fellow student in the 1950s at Okla. State) bankrolled the "Swiftboating Lies" attack against John Kerry, who fought and bled in Viet Nam while DubYah, Cheney and Rumsfeld --- and Danny Quayle -- dodged and ducked from active service.
John Kerry was awarded the Navy Cross -- which requires offical "double confirmation" of every detail by the highest Navy officials before the Navy Cross can be awarded.
Pickens has admittedly sought forgiveness by investing $300-Million in the Stillwater campus, primarily the renovated football stadium which was re-dedicated last Saturday.
