The Troubles with (some) Drivers

Posted Saturday, July 11, 2009, at 3:12 PM

Today I took a family member to the airport (I'll leave out exactly who, as some posters on this site have taken it upon themselves to trash every member of my family, though crying foul at the Sarah Palin mess, but I digress). It is about an hour drive to the airport from where we live and for the most part down there the drive was uneventful.

Before I go any further I would like to say that this is not against particular drivers such as man or woman, because honestly if you ask men who are the worse drivers they will almost always say women, and it would be vice versa if you asked women.

Anyway, going down there for the most part was uneventful, except for one woman, who decided to tailgate me as I was passing a truck. She was too busy talking on the phone and probably really didn't notice how close she was. I know in some states it's illegal to drive with a cell phone unless you have some sort of headset, but some people refuse to do believing that some constitutional right is being violated.

After dropping this family member off and I headed back for home, this is when the insane drivers decided to hit the road. My first experience, involved a man who simply couldn't decide what lane he wanted to be in. He's the sort of person, who it doesn't matter how fast the flow of traffic is going, he's got to go faster. So, as the traffic started to back up a bit (and when I mean back up there were two cars, this guy, and then me, four cars) this guy decided his best chance was to go back to the right lane, or as we know it, the slow lane, and try to pass traffic. His attempt failed and he looked to get back in the left lane. During this I had gained ground on the second car. All the while I kept thinking that this guy was going to attempt to get back in front of me. As I had predicted he attempted to slide back into my lane with no signal. Had I not slammed on my breaks there would have been a wreck. He decided against his move and got stuck in traffic.

After arriving back in town I came to a stoplight in the right lane. The light turned green and the traffic started moving, but obviously not fast enough for one woman who was blaring her horn, as if she thought she was in some large metropolitan area. Her issue was the truck in front of her was going slow. The driver was going about 20 in a 40. Bear in mind he was going way to slow, but the woman blaring her horn was just being way to impatient for traffic and acting like a jerk. But as karma goes, she got hers as she totally got boxed in and was forced to stay at that very slow speed. I couldn't help but smile.

There are jerks and buttheads (to keep it clean) out on the roads everyday and I'm sure everyone has their own stories. In today's society, everyone has to get to their destination as fast as possible and end up making the roads unsafe for the rest of us.

Laughable. I am betting that Stef's "over the top" comments gets under mikes skin much more than vice versa. Yours and mikes comments/responses only encourage her.

Actually doodle, except for one post in the last week I don't even pay attention to Steffanie. It's not worth my time. She's like that pesky little brother who tries to push your buttons in an attempt to get you to blow up. You start ignoring, and it goes away.

The worst one we've seen was a guy in Idaho eating while driving, a carmel apple in one hand and a drink in the other.......seems folks have forgotten the point of driving! It's amazing how many other things people do while they should be concentrating on one thing only!

I'll always remember the video of the woman who drove something around 30 miles at 75 mph .... WHILE SLEEPING!!
