Yes We Can!

So, Barack Obama won by a landslide. The latests numbers as of 12:30 PM on Wednesday November 5th are Obama 349-173 electoral college votes. With the popular vote now at 63.2 million (which is 52% of the vote) and McCain at right around 56 million (right at 46%) Barack Obama has gotten more of the percentage than W. Bush and Clinton did either one of their terms. This was not an election as much as it was a referendum on the last eight years.
The people clearly stated that they were ready for a change and it is Barack Obama that they have chosen to go with. I'm not hear to gloat about the win or talk down to McCain supporters. It's not my thing. Today is the dawn of a new beginning. It sees the coming end of the Bush Doctrine and the beginning of America regaining it's rightful spot in the world.
Watching last night I was nervous about how this election was going to turn out. All the states that went to Kerry in 2004 were going for Obama and all the states that went to Bush were going to Bush. And then the dam broke. First it was Ohio, then Iowa, then New Mexico, then Colorado. At a little after nine o'clock I was making some tabulations and realized that at 10 o'clock Obama would likely become President. Sure enough, right at the stroke at ten it was announced.
I was overcome with excitement that something that I truly believed in, someone I decided to vote for in 2004 and who I always supported carried right on through and had not only won the elction but was headed for a true landslide. Just to be clear, Obama flipped Florida, Ohio, Virginia, and Indiana. These states almost always have voted Republican in the past. And to a get a true sense of just how much "political capital" that Obama has now fully one third of the Republicans that voted for the governor of Indiana voted for Obama.
I have never really liked McCain. I don't feel I can trust him. Never have, never will, but from what I heard last night his concession speech was pretty damn good and when his supporters started booing Obama, McCain stifled them.
McCain realizes something that Obama has been pushing for years and, at least, pubicly seems to be embracing it, and that is simply that we are the United States of America and it is time to end the divisiveness and work together to get this country back on it's feet and going strong on its feet.
So, don't hang your flag at half mast or move to another country because you don't like Obama, voice your dissent. Make your voice heard and maybe it will reach Washington D.C. and Barack Obama and he will try to work to get your problems solved.

YES WE DID!!!! Man I can't believe it. Wow still speech less. Got my Obama shirt on and got my Obama sign out in the yard. I am proud to support Obama. WOW!!!!! Sorry McCook but we got THAT ONE.
Wow Mike, thanks for not gloating, although I have a hard time realizing how a 52%-46% is a "landslide." I would think you'd need to be more like 60%-38% to really be a land slide. Maybe we just use different dictionaries.
I just want to be the first to tell you that even though I am very conservative, as I believe we should ask what we can do for our country, not what can our country do for us. I plan on supporting Barack through his presidency, and that started last night during McCain's speech.
Even though I think many, many of his supports believe it will be a "hand-out festival" during his presidency, I have a feeling he's smart enough to know that will bankrupt this country further into a recession, possibly a depression.
A lot of his fans will be suprised and disappointed that they might actually still have to work to put gas in their car and pay their own mortgage.
I think what he did was amazing in winning and he rightfully deserves our respect, that's why I will never disparage him like ,most of you liberals Dems have been doing to Bush for the last eight years, because it is sickening and I think we're all tired of it. I think George Bush is a good man that got a bad rap and he did the best he could to keep us safe.
You can't always blame the president for everything that will happen, but you'll find out what it's like when your guy doesn't do everything right. You'll be under the gun alsong with him.
Instead of throwing you and your president under the bus as you have done to us over the last eight years for eveything that has gone wrong, I hope us conservatives will be there to pull you up out of the mud to say "hey buddy, how can I help."
Trust me Mike, things are going to go wrong, nothing is perfect. We need ot come together to make ammends and get this country back on top.
But if you think that measns that we're going to set back and let Nancy Pelosi turn this country into San Fransico, you are gonna have civil war I can almost gaurantee that. We don't want to be in the same depraived and sorry state as California.
The whole thing that scares me is will Barack allow himself to be Nancy's rubber stamp on all her liberal bills. Yes she has 55 electoral votes for her state, but her state does not and will not speak for this entire country. I don't think he will though.
LIke I said I think he's too smart to let himself go down that disrespectful road as to be her rubber stamp, so I won't worry too much about it.
We'll jst do our part to try to make sure he knows we're here to he can earn our votes, and we'll keep letting him know that on top of wanting smaller government, less taxes, less hand-outs to those that don't want to work for it, we also think that supoorting baby killings through abortion is wrong, wrong, and wrong!
I wish I would have found this story before my last post. I hope everyone who reads this blog will read this story and think about it for awhile.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB12258438...
Let's not let this happen to Barack, evern if things don't go (R) way...Republicans that is.
We shouldn't discrace the presidency anymore than the left and the msia already have. I do think this gives our entire nation a black eye, even though we weren't the one's doing it. And if some other country doesn't like the new guy...tough _ _ _ _. He's our guy now, deal with it.
It's a damn shame we as an entire country let this happen to a decent man, a family man who want't the same thing as Barack Obama now wants...unity.
I know it will be tough, as liberal agenda is hard for us to swallow, in fact abortion, gay marrige, and redistribution of wealth is like trying to swallow razor blades for a conservative.
Anyway, I think this article is right on. Lets not let our disagreements tarnish good people any longer. You can say you don't trust Bush and say he's a liar all you want but deep down inside you know he was only doing what was asked of him with the info he was presented at the time, with our lives in the balance.
Isn't it great we all have someone we can blame all of our problems on. Not so great if you happen to be that guy.
That's why I'm going to cut Barack a lot of slack. If you think about everytime you make a mistake, who's there to ridicule you? The whole world? Doubtful.
I can't wait to see the next 4 years of your posts Michael, as you try to pin all of Hussien's screwups on Bush. And there will be plenty.....If he doesn't get offed first. He's already been targeted twice and he isn't even in office yet. His body guards had better have their heads on a swivel.
Jim
Yes you voted with a majority of the people... 7.5 million people more than voted for McCain... hardly a landslide. Reagan won in a landslide, 489 electoral votes in 1980 and 525 in 1984.
However we do not know what Obama actually stands for except for Change, Change, and more Change. He cannot hide behind his ambiguous sayings. He now has to make decisions and cannot back down because it is above his pay grade. He can no longer just vote present. His followers are counting on him to change this country. His associations are going to matter now. Everything he does is going to matter. His voice has to be heard in times of trouble.
What is his type of change? We will just have to wait and see. If he tries to limit free speech, freedom to have guns, redistribute wealth or other things that go against the Constitution, he will surely hear about it. I will wait and see what happens, and I will support him unless he starts to tread over the constitution then my voice along with all the conservative brethren will be the loudest voices out there.
Mike, my question to you is will your voice be joining us if Barack starts to infringe upon the Constitution? You claim that Bush damaged the Constitution so much and yet you give no proof… it's just your opinion. Will you do the same for Barack Obama?
and Mike... check your spelling on the word dam... I seriously doubt you were cussing last night.
Proud, I'm not sure Mike understand the Constitution or believes in what it was intended to be enough to fight for it. I too agree with what you say, he can't vote present anymore, and his associations will matter from now on. It's a whole different ball game now. I hope he does well.
Jim, you need to calm down. Nothing has spoiled my love for politics more than the diarhea of the mouth Democrats have had for Bush over the last few years. Relating him to Hitler, calling him a criminal. Our country has sunken to a new low over this and it makes me sick. This is not what our troops are fighting for.
Let's give this man our support and take the high road buddy. No body is more conservative than me, and I don't agree with a lot of what Barack stands for, but we HAVE to stop tarnishing the presidency. This guy won fair and square, not a landslide though Mike, get a clue man!
If you continue to do the same thing the Dems have been doing to Bush for 8 years than you are no better than they are and you and me might end up fighting each other and what good would that do.
Just try to be decent about it. You don't have to like him, but now you need to respect him. Please don't act out like a left wing freak, or you'll just be a right-wing freak!
Justin76,
Obama will get my support untill he crosses the line. I will give him a clean slate regardless of his #@$%^$* past. And from his past associations I doubt that will be very long coming, but (reluctantly) he'll have my support until then.
Jim
Well it doesn't sound like he has it at all from you. Believe me Jim, I don't agree with the borderline socailism in taxation, Pro-choice, or handing out tax rebates for people that don't pay federal income tax (like me).
We need to come together, and I gather it's going to be harder than I first thought. You need to read the article I posted here,
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB12258438...
I thought I posted it on Brian's blog, but it was on Mike's.
I don't want to have any part of the conservative movement to do to Barack, what the libs did to George Bush. I don't think you do either. Channel you frustration out on a bean bag or something, but not our president.
This country has had too mcuh of that already, and I think we're hurting from it. Instead let's take the high road. Let's leave all the Hussien name calling in the trash can where they belong. Just like the Hitler analogies with Bush belong in the trash can.
I know we can do better, it won't be easy. I think a lot of the libs will have a hard time NOT steam rolling their agenda through a dem led government.
That, however, doesn't give us the moral "free ticket" to disparage Obama and attack his wife and little girls, they are Americans too. I know he has past associations that are very suspect, but who the hell doesn't in our government? If you try to tell me that all of the republicans are as pure as the wind drive snow, you're a fool for believing that.
I honestly don't think a lot is going to change anyway, and if it does, I don;t think it can get much worse. I hope for the best and I hope Obama gets it fixed. I could give a rat's back end if it's a R or a D that fixes us and gets us in the right direction, as long they do.
I know there's a bunch out there that want to see him fail because they don't want a black man or a lefty to be the hero of the day. Let's just get over and recognize that it's an American that got us on our way, and the son of immigrants no less.
Weren't we all sons of immigrants? I don't remember there every being a native American president...do you? I think you should be glad that our system works well enough that someone can live out the American dream that came from nothing.
It should teach us all that you don't have to come from the Bush family plantation or the Kennedy Camelot to rise to the presidency. Enough said!
Can't even let Obama supporters enjoy victory can you guys? And it's two of the guys time and time again. You hate the man so much one of you won't even mention his first or last name anymore you simply refer to him as Hussein. How about a little respect. He is the President-elect no matter how much you whine about it. I showed Bush respect after he "won" in 2000 and still showed him respect up until he started infringing on my right to privacy by listening to my phone calls (good enough example there proudconservative? how about the infringement of freedom of religion where in the last eight years if you are not a christian you aren't American.)
Yes I do consider it a landslide when the race can be called at 10 pm. The last two election went into the next couple of days and one lasted until almost December. I call it a landslide when Barack Obama was able to take eight (and more than likely nine) states that voted for Bush last time.
But I imagine you guys just will never root for Barack to succeed (and before you say it yes I rooted for Bush and in my eyes failed miserably) simply since in at least two posts the prospects of him being "offed" were brought up. By the way proud there is nothing in the constitution banning or mentioning redistribution of wealth. Even if there were Obama has no plans for the no matter how loudly Fox News and McCain trumpeted it.
That's okay you guys go ahead and stay in the shadows and bark and whine for the next four years instread of trying to help get this nation back on track. I was hoping that McCain's words would make some headway with his supporters but I guess not.
For the most part I agree with you Justin, but I would suggest you look a little closer at the Democratic caucus that is about to come in in January. It is not very liberal in fact a large percentage of the Democrats are very moderate.
I do find it humorous proud that you asked me how many of BARACK OBAMA'S mistakes I would try to blame on Bush. Sounds familiar since everything, even the crash that happened TWO MONTHS ago on President Bush who hasn't been in office for eight years, that Bush has done wrong in the last two years has someone been linked to something Clinton did in his eight years as President.
Mike, ease up. I think we're trying to tie the knots and ween out the "Hussein" crowd because it is hopelessly disrespectful and hurtful. Not to mention assinine and childish.
I want the new conservatives to show compassion in the national view that Bush hasn't been shown. I look forward to the moderate Dems working with consrvatives. We have one right here in Nebraska, Ben Nelson, aas I'm sure you know.
I, in fact helped campaign for him when I was a kid and he was running for govenor. I took stickers all over town for weeks. That was my first taste of politics. I grew up in a Dem family with conservative values.
I only became a republican right after HS with the successful Newt G. revoution and the rigorous econ class I took my senior year opened my eyes after I was taught to research and think for myself instead of follow others.
This has only been solidified by my finding Christ, starting a family, a business, and loving my country.
It's like they always say, usually the right thing to do is the hardest thing to do. That's how I view the decisions that will have to be made. A lot of people want the rich to be taxed hard so that they can get a "rebate" check and a lot of people want free healthcare so they don't have to buy it themselves and have to sacrifice the iPod and iPhones.
This is one of those times where I think making unpopular decisions is actually the right move, know what I mean?
Maybe making the decision that will make the most people happy now, will only lead to misery later.
I am willing to make sacrifices for my country, I am willing to hucker down and whether a recession if I have to. If the harder this recession hurts now will make our country and economy better 3-4 years fdown the road, then bring on.
I don't want a freebie check now so we can all be miserable 5-6 years down the road yet. It won't make me feel any better if some rich guy lost a bundle money to taxes either because it still didn't help me.
If he would have had that money and invested it in his home or business, that may have helped several of us working guys to do work for him. That's the beauty of Reaganomics.
I think we need to stop blaming a president for things that happen during their presidency, or the guy beofre him. 9/11 wasn't Bush's fault or Clinton's fault...It was Osama Bin Laden's fault last time I checked.
The mortgage crash wasn't Bush's fault or congress that let Fannie and Freddie operate the way they did. It was greedy home owners and banks that KNEW these people could not afford these homes, yet lent money to them anyway.
The blame game has to stop now and forever. I will leave you all with this,
The uneducated man blames everyone else,
The partly-educated man blames himself,
The educated man blames no one.
-Epictetus
Is this how democrats are going to reach across the aisle and fix the country...by throwing their own under the bus since they don't need his number in their column anymore?
I'm talking about Joe Lieberman. Seems that Harry Reid is very intent on removing Lieberman as chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
All because he supported John McCain. I thought this was a free country and you could vote for whoever you want. If this is how they treat the guy that was Al Gore's running mate 8 years ago how are they going to treat the minorty GOP?
I wonder.
It's funny that they tolerated Joe so long and now all of a sudden are ready to throw him out. It makes sense when you crunch the numbers. Before the Dems only held a 51-49 senate majority and they needed him in their column as he is listed as a Democrats. Now that Harry has a cushy 55-45 seat majority, he can toss Joe out.
What a great world of politics. Now wonder you have kiss a lot of ass in Washington instead of standing up for what's right.
Sorry Joe, you should know by now, it's Party before Country.
I like Joe, he's one of the good guys. It's too bad he's being treated like this. You suppose Obama will stand up for him? I hope so.
You can say goodbye to Joe. Barrack will not defend him in the least. Reid will get his way and off him. I'm also afraid that you will see a lot of radicals put into offices. And what about this civilian millitia that he plans to invent that will be as powerful as the millitary? Small wonder since he's gonna, most likely, down size our millitary. Sounds like the rebirth of the Black Panthers on steroids. Hmmmmm, wonder why he thinks he needs a civilian millitia?
I still don't trust him.
Jim
The man insulted Nancy Reagan today and her dead husband. What is next with him? Will he go after the infant grandbaby of Sarah Palin? His first press conference with flippant attack on an elderly woman was a wonderful way to change the partisan atmosphere in DC. RESPECT????? Enjoy your four years while you can natureboy cause this arrogant lib won't get re-elected. This flippant clown isn't going to change a thing!!!!
Ok Mike... let's look at the listening in on "your conversations"… The only time that would have happened is if you were receiving a call from someone outside the United States. I hardly doubt that. And give me more of an example of the freedom of religion thing... you throw these vague instances out and claim that is a valid example.
And Mike… of course there is nothing in the constitution regarding redistribution of wealth… It's in the Communist Manifesto. And as far as how many of Barack's mistakes you would blame on Bush I never asked you that. I asked if you were going to complain about Barack if he treads on the constitution like you claim that Bush did.
I find it funny that you blame the crash on Bush rather than where blame should be on Freddy and Fanny and Clinton's policy of forcing banks to loan their money to people who could not afford the loan, yet they went ahead because they were told the government would back their loans. Nevermind that Barney Frank had the heads of the lending agents in and asked them if they thought there needed to be more regulation a few months before the crash… they said no and he agreed. Then Frank, during the crash, is bemoaning that there needed to be more regulation.
And Barack has just named one of the Board of Directors of Freddy Mac as his new White House Chief of Staff. Rahm was paid over $200,000 in 2001 when Freddy Mac was involved with controversial campaign contributions and accounting irregularities. What a Great CHANGE I can believe in!!!
The last time I checked the House of Representatives are in charge of the purse strings of the United States... which the last time I checked the Dems were in charge of setting financial policies for the last 2 years.
And now how about this... http://change.gov/americaserves
"The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation's challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start."
Now let's see how that totally tramples on the 13th Amendment...
"Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."
This looks like a blatant attempt to usurp the Constitution by forcing the youth and elders into service of others. Let me get a taste of your blue kool-aid on this Mike.
I don't think service to others is bad. However if you begin to force people to "volunteer" it can no longer be consider volunteerism. And what is to keep the government from holding out on the elderly's healthcare if they refuse to volunteer? This is just bad policy and will do nothing to garner the support from the half that did not vote for Obama.
Yeah… this is change I can believe in… more like CHAINS I can believe in.
It is interesting to note that now that Obama has won, it is as if a veil has lifted. No one in the media knows anything about him nor what he will do. I thought it kind of strange that Obama was all by himself on the stage in Grant Park during his victory speech. Unlike other victory speeches I have witnessed where the family is present as well as staffers and vice presidential running mate. Yes, there may have been security issues and that would explain it. But, if not, then what?
I hope that we're not going to have 4 years of "he said, she said." Yes, Mike has said some pretty dumb things, like raving about repblicans would ban him from voting if they were in control, and listening to his phone calls.
It almost makes me wonder if Mike sits in his basement at night with a tin foil hat on his head so that the vast right wing conspriracy can't listen in on his thought with their secret brain wave scanners,
But seriously, we need to realize it's not just liberal and dems that hire people that have worked for shaddy companies and had shady dealings. It's both parties. Thats the problem with having too big of a government. When there are sooooo many doors to open and look behind and when things get soooo complicated and boring, no one will have the desire and tenacity to hold them accountable or even know what in the hell their doing behind closed doors.
That's why we need a smaller government. Period. Get rid fo the socialism and corruption. That's how you get rid of lobyists and ear marks. Just reduce the scope and size of this monster.
I like the idea of forcing people into service for the governement a lot, but you know who it should be? People that are taking from the government. I'm not talking about senior citizens or the disabled. I'm talking about welfare recipients. Food stamps, Medicade, etc. Most of these people are bustin their asses to NOT work so they can stay on the government tit, so they should have plenty of time to "volunteer."
It does seem to be a greta idea to get everyone involed, but I think it shoud be linked to incentives, like the more you volunteer, the better benefits you get from the government.
Ya, it's still a hand out and it's not in the contitution, but as long as we're writing our own consitution these days to serve our wants and desires, we might as well put some teeth into it so we're not just breeding wellfare families.
You know, if the New Deal birth of the welfare state we have right now, what it the next generation or two going to be like if we donn't stand up now and fight socialist ideas.
I know that we're not likely going to become a socialist nation under Obama, but if plant the seeds for it now, there's no telling what my grandkids are going to be living under. Communism??? It's not out of the question. What if we cut military spending and redice our forces and then Russia attacks us?
Things are not going to be perfect forever. The reason they teach history in school is because history repeats itself and you can learn about your future by studying your past. I believe we are weakening as country because of our watered down Americanism.
We are a country made great by immigrants and we should come together as once voice and unite for our freedom and liberty. We are a team. When you join the Dodgers, you play for the Dodgers, when you are traded to the Packers, you play for the Packers. You don't drop balls when you playing against the Bears because you don't want to choose sides or you feels sorry for they coach or don't want to beat a team led by a black coach.
That's idiotic, and that's what's happening to our country, we're taking sides with countries don't care about our freedom or our well-being. We should all be Amicans and play for team America like we all want to win the coveted Global Championship!
What concerns me is Obama is pulling together the Clinton team that did little to stop terrorism when we could. At least the World fears Bush. All of this "Change" mania will take a different twist if we are attacked hard again. The enemy lulls you to sleep then attacks. We have forgotten the past and we are very vunarable from an economic standpoint. Fairy tales don't exist and this fairy tale is 2 months away from beginning. I hope we live happily ever after.
My brother and I have been doing some market calculations. There is greater than a 78% chance oil prices will make an all time high within 12 months. Our targets suggest we could exceed $200/bbl if current democrat plans on the table are approved.
Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Reid are to blame if this happens. Obama's Presidental orders could make it worse.
These group of leaders ignore history. With oil supply levels where they are hard core democratic party beliefs will be like pouring gasoline on the fire.
None of the new Admin has any energy experience and desires to punish American Oil Companies. The fact that the largest 12 oil companies in the World are National Oil companies doesn't even compute with these naive, inexperinced new leaders.
We also feel that after a counter trend short term rally in the stock market we will test the 585 area in the S&P and the dow will test mid 5000's.
I am curious if our history teacher blog master has a "Yes we can" answer to how we overcome natural oil decline rates and the realization that with only 1600 Petroleum Engineers having graduated from 1989 - 2005 that a real crisis exists and oil going to $147 is just the beginning?
wallismarsh - I'm no economic wiz, so your numbers mentioned may even be pessimistic, but I will comment that Senator McCain made the comment that the economy wasn't his strong suit and backed it up by stating "the fundamentals of the economy are strong" as the market was tanking.
Obama certainly is an intelligent fellow and I'd hope where he is weak knowledge wise, he will get expert advice. No guarantees, but I think we may be in better hands in that respect. Most likely only time will completely tell the tale.
Mike, oh my, do you need help bro! This election was a joke. You have a voting block of 47 million folks, who pay no Federal Income Taxes, and this block of folks with hands out,"gimmie, gimmie, gimmie", have now used the flaw in Democracy, to try and form a Marxist state here in America!
What is the flaw in Democracy? Three people are on a desert island, two men and one women. They vote 2-1, to allow rape. Democracy. You see Mike, we are a Republic.
Obama and his worshippers and trying to turn America into a Marxist country. If you can not see that, then you choose not to see it.
The courts will soon turn hard to the left. Mike, buddy, pal...you don't see a problem with that? Obama, will form the new Gestapo. The new Gestapo will be the nations' courts and judges. They will rule with an iron fist. They will make laws from the bench, they will throw out the will of the people. The new Nazis in America will be the legal system. You don't believe me? Wait, you will.
What about the media Mike, and the way the media has betrayed this country? The way the media covered up for Obama, lied for Obama, and held out facts for Obama, to complete the Socialist coup?
Do you not see that the Media was, not only in the tank for Obama, but an active participant in the lies and deceptions?
The election of Obama, shows how much the public schools have failed our children. Not so much here in our area, but in most cities, schools are nothing but State Indoctrination Centers, liberal indoctrination, of course.
I am not going to leave America, this is my country. No, no, Mike, I plan to fight for my country. The one thing that Obama, the new Gestapo, and foolish persons like you, can not tolerate...is truth. So, I will tell the truth, until the day the leftist goons, via the IRS, or some other Government arm, comes to my door, and arrests me. Even then, I will tell the truth.
If you think that right minded people like me, are going to give this country, and the future of our children, to Marxists like Obama, then you need some serious help bro.
Serious question for our blogmaster. How many people work for you? Have you ever had to risk your personal money for your business? How many times have you had to take a second job to cover your bank note? Have you ever made a capital budget for your business? Have you ever made a capital gain? Has a bank required you to submit a personal financial statement?
I am guessing the answer is no and never.
I guess that is why you like Obama and Biden. They answered the question the same way.
Note to Democrats;
Nowhere to run,
Nowhere to hide,
No one else to blame,
Let's see how you do.
Two more comments.
One, the Obama worshippers have nothing real to offer. Only giddy little school girl feelings to explain their actions. Emotions rule. I hear Obama worshippers say how we all need to work together. Where was all that love when Bush was trying to get things done?
Two, The major struggle we have in the USA is the producers versus the non producers. Liberals, for the most part, are non producers. They need the work of others to support them. Conservatives, for the most part, are the producers.
When the producers don't fork over their hard earned money fast enough to support the non producers, lawyer dogs, or corrupt politicians step in. They force the producers to carry the non producers.
The non producers love Robin Hood. Robin Hood was a thief. If he wanted to help the poor, get a job, give your own money. But, you see, that takes effort, and sacrafice. Non-producers love sacrafice...YOUR sacrafice. Non producers love effort...YOUR effort.
You Obama worshippers can see it, if you really want to. Check out how much, of their own money, Obama and Biden gave. Pathietic, beyond belief. These marxists are only generous with someone elses money. What is so darn funny, is that Obama was not even willing to care for his own family, his brother and his aunt.
I was not a big McCain fan, but Mike, for you to say you don't trust McCain, really shows your ignorance. You trust Obama, a man with questionable background, questionable motives, questionable friends, and questionable motives, and McCain bothers you?
Maybe you should spend less time with Amber Lea, jumping up and down for joy in her front yard, and take a serious look at what you, and a country full of usefull idiots, have done to this country.
We must remember that a great Democrat -President John F. Kennedy was the first to speak the words.
"Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country."
John F Kennedy quoted someone else on that. Listen to his speech.
JFK still said it, whether his words or someone elses. What would have happened if Obama said to his worshippers during the election? The following would have crumbled.
JFK was a great president. Unfortunately, the democratic party has long since drifted away from JFK. He was the kinda guy that would without a doubt get my republican vote.
Today, the liberal nut jobs that have high jacked the Democratic Party, would call JFK a right wing wacko.
The nerve, asking people to do for their country!
Joe Biden would say: "that is easy for you to say JFK, you're rich!"
Barack Obama would say: "you need to share that wealth boy!"
JFK believed in low taxes, he said so! JFK wanted a strong military. JFK believed that American business and industry were the keys to our future, not a bloated, arogant Government.
JFK wanted to separate Social Security funds from the Federal budget, todays Democrats have wasted every single dime that we have sent them. There is no trust fund, all your Social Security money, is gone. JFK wanted to provide a wonderful country for our kids. Todays Democrat/Socialist/Marxist want to roll over trillions of dollars in debt to our kids.
JFK, if alive today, would probably bust Obama and Biden right in the chops!
Mike, the more I read your stuff, the more I realize that you are simply a flaming leftist! When ever you open your mouth, Move-On.org escapes.
I went back and read your garbage on Sarah Palin. Mike, buddy, pal, you need a mental enema.
I know why Sarah Palin scared the hell out of you leftists. She destroys the myth that you need to be a complaining, unhappy, bitter man-hater to be a successful woman. She also destroyed the myth that unborn babies with problems, should be destroyed.
Sarah Palin accomplished many things without benefit of lawyer dogs, and various leftists groups that push unqualified people into positions of power.
As far as Sarah's clothes go, your comments show your deep seated resentment of anyone who has a dime more than you do. This is typical with the left. Jealous, angry over their "lot" in life. The politics of envy.
Hillary had her "pant suits" specially made for her by some Hollywood leftist designer, which is fine, but here comes Gov. Palin, and she can actually wear a dress!
Mike, seriously, get help.
Where is the next JFK? We need one now. I agree...I think he'd be absolutely sick to his core to hear these people promising the government will take care of everything for them, we just need to give them more power over our lives and they'll take care of us.
I'm speaking of government as a whole, not just the libs, because when it comes down to it, most all of them want the power over the common man. To take our money and spend it the way they see fit.
Guys that think otherwise...that really want to preserve the constitution...that really are more like JFK was, like Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee, are thought of as Loons by today's mainstream.
I can tell you something you may not about BIG governemtn, for all of you who are in the public schools and working for the government, or whatever. It's getting pretty hard to make a living with this swelling government, the bigger it gets, the more departments they think of to create.
This means they need to start collecting more money to pay more people. Every six months it seems like theres a new "thing" we have to pay for in order to make a living. It's everywhere. I have to have documents that say I work, documents that say I collect money, documents that say what I do to make money, documents that say I know what I'm doing, documents that say absolutely nothing, documents that say I am not employeed by someone else, documents that say I have insurance, and on and on and on. It all costs me money.
Every year there's something else we must pay in order stay alive. Do teachers have to keep paying money in order to stay alive. We can't all be teachers, someone has to pay their wages.
We can't all work for the government, someone has to pay their wages too.
I think that the government should be run like my business. Liev within your means or pack it up and let another business take your customers. The government has laws prohibiting monopolies in business, yet there is no true competition with you governing bodies. We have no choice but to let them spend our money.
Does anyone even know what the governemtneven spends per year? Do you know that our government is the largest spender in the country. It is a significant portion of the Gross Domestic Product
In 2007 the GDP for the US was $13,807,550,000,000.
OUr government spent
$2,730,000,000,000
That is nearly 20% of the GDP! Our government spends 20% of all the dollars that every man, woman, child, small business, and large corperation makes!
That is a lot of moola!
Why do we let em? DO we know what they spend it on? Do we know why? Where does it all go? Does it even stay in this country to provide jobs in our own country? Is it out-sourced? Are American tax payers struggling to pay taxes so that some camel jockey has a job in some God forsaken land? These are questions we should all be thinking every day.
Why do we want a bigger government? If we do all these questions will virtually never get answered because there won't be enough people to ask them and there won't be anyone who can actually answer them!
Hey Justin - you are so right! Did you see Mike's comments, towards the end of his column, where he says we should let Obama know what we need so he can try and solve our problems?
Wow! That speaks volumes. I don't need Obama to solve my problems. I don't need Government to hold my hand. I need Obama and Government to stay the hell out of my way! Quick gumming up the works! Quit taxing us silly! Quit making more and more goofy laws that make criminals out of good people.
Your observations are on, bro! The left wants us ALL to eventually be government employees. (slaves) It all starts with this "womb to the tomb" Government care, that apparently, our buddy Mike, wants in a bad way.
TJ O'Rourke once said: "If you think health care is expensive now, wait unitl you see how much it costs when it's free."
Is our blogmaster concerned that Obama wants a mandatory "militia" of kids between 18 - 25? They are going to receive 3 months of military training. What do you think that is all about? Sounds sort of SS in a way. I would appreciate a comment as I have not studied the issue yet certain radio guys in Houston are a little concerned by the whole deal.
I'm not even sure what is going on with that other than hear-say from some bloggers since I have been busy working. It sounds suspicious. Why not just support the militay if you want a ...well and military. If someone wants to create their own military seperate from the established military you've spent a lot of time cricizing and throwing gross accusation at...it does seem a little Nazi-ish to me.
I can tell you one thing, if that does happen you know there will be many seperatists militias formed all over the country with one thing in common...to fight for their right of freedom against communism that may be pushed right up our noses while the mainstream media sits on their hands by order of the dictator and publishes a bunch of propaganda.
This has happened before and it can ahppen again. To think that someone else's history can't repeat itself in another country sometime down the road is foolish and ignorant. That's a good reason to teach history and the truth in schools. SO these kids know whats has happened before us.
Does it concern me? Of course it doesn't concern me, because it isn't true. This 'militia' that wallismarsh is referring to is the Americorp set up by John F. Kennedy.
Once again if you did your own research instead of listening to what certain news networks or believing that an email you recieved is true you would know this.
But it just solidifies that certain elements of the right are going to do anything and everything to pull this administration down, even calling this recession, The Obama Recession, two full months before he takes office.
Fear tactics used to work in this country. I'm glad that at least 75% of the people in this country don't prescribe to them anymore. And for those that still do, wake up.
Mike, Mike, Mike...
Where do you get your mis-information????Americorps was founded in 1993 by President Clinton... not JFK.
http://www.americorps.org/about/ac/histo...
JFK did infact found the Peace Corps in 1961 but that is something different from the AmeriCorps program.
75%... get real! How in the world did you come up with this rediculous number? Obama only won by 53% of the popular vote. Inspire us with your logic on this.
Our warnings are just coming off of what your Dear Leader Chairman Maobama is saying. He originally stated that he wanted to require service for middle, high school, and college students... he has since changed the original language, but to be that ignorant of the language in using the words require versus suggest is just showing that this man doesn't have the respect for the Constitution that you claim he does.
Mike, keep your head above the Blue Kool-aid because you are drowning in it.
Okay yes I misquoted the Corps so thank you for that correction.
Just because 53% of the people voted for Obama you think the other 47% (I guess this would include you) played into the fearmongering the fringe right played at every turn and are still playing. My 75% is an estimate. But when you look at the numbers of people who feel comfortable with Obama being president that number is closer to 75% than it is to 50.
I don't know where you two are getting your information on "required service" because neither of you have referenced it, but I can assure both of you there is nothing to fear here. Even it is required service, as is, oh let's see, signing up for selective service, do you really think Obama is going to get his very own military made up of primarily middle and high school kids?
All this service would amount to is community service where kids actually, oh my gosh, help their community. This would be a big change from those that only do community service because they have gotten in trouble with the law. Not saying anything against children as a large majority are law abiding citizens.
One other thing I have never fully understood is the right wing use of Kool-Aid drinkers. Honestly, you are abusing the memory of those people who were forced (and yes there was a larger number of forced than unforced people) at Jonestown. But then again some of right wing humor is just odd and crude and tasteless.
Mike.
You say I never quoted it... well go back up the blog and you will see that I quoted it several days ago (Nov 7th at 8:17PM). www.change.gov/americaserves... read it again... and you will probably say that I misquoted. He changed it because if you go there now and it says that he suggests doing it.
I am not saying that he wants to get his guestapo from these people... But you of all people should realize that someone tried to make the perfect race in years past... He did this through the use of young men. It doesn't matter the age, its just whether or not they can pull a trigger and intimidate those that are not in the service of their leader.
I am not fear mongering... it is called listening to how someone talks and realizing what he says now and what he said in the past is consistent to something that goes against what I believe. I am just pointing out things that you just happen to willingly overlook because of your bias. I am sure there are things that have been said by both parties that go this way, however the person I am concerned about is suggesting Change and yet going with the same people that were part of the Clinton administration... what kind of Change is that?
Odd and crude humor is a significant part of the left too... SNL, the Daily Show, MTV... need I go on?
