McCain's Non-ActionPosted Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at 6:59 PM
I have nothing personal against John McCain. I have never met the man, never saw him close up but something happened over the weekend at one of his campaign stops that truly disgusted me and how this has not made bigger news just goes to prove that there is NO liberal bias.
At a campaign stop over the weekend, McCain was hammering Barack Obama. He came to a point in his speech where he said, "Who is the real Obama". At this point he paused and a member of the audience shouted at the top of his lungs where the video feed could record it "Terrorist!". Right now, you are probably saying to yourself that why am I harping on McCain he can't do anything about audience members. That's partly true. John McCain has said for eight years that we would never run a dirty campaign. As soon as that person yelled that, had McCain truly meant all the promises he has made about positive campaigning, McCain could have stopped and said no no, Barack Obama is a fine American citizen and deserves our respect. If you don't think that would have gone a long way and proven to all Americans that McCain stands above the fray, then you probably do think that Obama is a terrorist. So instead of stopping his speech and putting that unfortunate idiot in his place or even asking that he leave all McCain did was grimace and move on. I was disgusted and disappointed in McCain's non-action. In a time when our economy is busting, we need leadership to bring us out of it. More than that we need both of our presidential candidates to be talking about it and how to correct it. Instead, we have one candidate who "suspended" his campaign, said he wouldn't debate (but he did), and said he would work closely with Congress until this was settled (he phoned it in). A mere week and half after that McCain's campaign is trying to convince the American people that the economy issues aren't that bad and would rather talk about the fact that Obama sat on the same board with a 60s radical. It's distraction to the extreme and I hope, and pray, the American people don't fall for it. What we are seeing out of McCain/Palin is truly sad and disappointing. It could also be said that the whole thing started with the Savings and Loan collapse of the 80's. Perhaps you heard of the resulting scandal from that whole affair Mrs. Smith. The Keating 5 scandal. Interestingly enough John McCain was right in the middle of it accepting bribes from Big bank executives to look the other way during inquisitions by the senate into the whole affair.
Here is a really nice Wikipedia entry on the whole thing.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keating_Fiv...
If that isn't your style Google it. There is tons of information about the whole thing. Seems to me neither one of the republican runners is really morally fit for the highest office in the land.
By the way while trying to point fingers at Democrats for the mess we are in (honestly it's everyone's fault not just one party) you used legislation that was passed by a Republican control Congress. The Community Reinvestment Act of 1995 was passed a year after Republicans won back Congress. OH well.
Okay if you all are seriously going to take this route let's talk about Palin and her associations. Her husband is a great friend to a man in Alaska who wants to suceed from the United States and has made threats against the government. This year (2008, not the mid 90s or the early 60s but 2008) she recorded a message for his group.
If you want to go after ministers let's talk about hers. This man actually got a woman run out of a village in Kenya because he proclaimed her a witch. When he blessed Governor Palin he asked God to protect her against witches.
If you seriously want to go with character attacks you better damn well be sure that your candidate is absolutely clean themselves. Even John McCain has his own skeleton, a mister Charles Keating, who McCain worked closely with before Keating scandal, which many point to as the actual start of the mess we are in.
I suggest you look elsewhere for your news. Barack Obama does not know Louis Farrakan and Jim the fact that you just made a public threat against him (no matter how horrible a person he is) causes me to question you Christianity. Christ would NEVER condone the public calling for another human to be killed.
The sad thing about all of this and why these stories aren't getting ANY traction is because all these stories were throughoully debunked in the Democratic Primary. Had you been paying attention you would know this.
And now Cindy McCain has joined in the attacks saying that Barack Obama voted against funding her son in Iraq. Yes he voted against a funding bill because there was no time table, but what she convienently forgets to mention is that HER husband voted against funding six months later. Did she have the same reaction. My guess is she had no reaction to either vote.
I think this also the first time in history that people have actually referred to Barack by his middle name. Of course with a middle name like McCain's (Sidney), there's probably a reason he hasn't sunk to this elementary level style of name-calling that our politics has now come to.
Mike,
I'd say the fellow in the audience had portrayed Obama pretty accurately. You mean to tell me that his association with William Ayers is "just a coincedence"? William Ayers and his "Weatherhead Dimmwits" murdered innocent people. Not a whole lot of them but tried to on MANY occasions. Obama seems to have an affiliation with radicals all over. I quarantee Hamas and other radical terrorist groups are pulling for Husein Obama.
Reverend Wright. Here's another bum that preaches hatred towards the United States on a regular basis. Obama listened to this radical for over 20 years. You can't tell me he went to that "church" that long without agreeing with this idiot.
Louis Fairy-con. There's another jerk who should have been "lead poisoned" years ago. Yep, another close friend.
Obama has had very bad tastes in friends over the years and these acquaintences will only get worse if he gets the seat at the head table. God forbid.
Jim
I'm sorry I may have missed some of your missives Mike. Have the Democrats done anything you don't approve of?
Analysis: Palin's words may backfire on McCain
By DOUGLASS K. DANIEL
Associated Press Writer
By claiming that Democrat Barack Obama is "palling around with terrorists" and doesn't see the U.S. like other Americans, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin targeted key goals for a faltering campaign.
And though she may have scored a political hit each time, her attack was unsubstantiated and carried a racially tinged subtext...

Florida Congressman: Palin 'Don't Care Too Much What They Do With Jews and Blacks'
ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports: Florida Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings pointed to Sarah Palin on Wednesday to rally Jews to Obama.
"If Sarah Palin isn't enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention," said Hastings. "Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don't care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through."
Hastings, who is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, made his comments in Washington, D.C., while participating in a panel discussion sponsored by the National Jewish Democratic Council.

The Community Reinvestment Act and the Credit Crunch
Politicians and pundits have differing opinions about the cause of the credit crisis now afflicting the American economy. Everything from deregulation to "Wall Street greed" has been pointed to for blame. But the Community Reinvestment Act of 1995 may be the real culprit.
The Community Reinvestment Act of 1995, which was a revision of a similar law enacted in 1977, was a Clinton era law...
The problem was that many of these borrowers did not have sufficient income or assets to qualify for a loan Hence the subprime mortgage was born, offered to borrowers without the kind of credit history or assets to qualify for a more traditional loan.

Maybe you're wrong, mike.
So you think calling a presidential candidate a terrorist and a traitor is perfectly acceptable but a politician telling a half-truth is disappointing. I don't truly know how to respond to that.
I haven't heard one Democrat or one media person even suggest that Palin is a racist for the whole Bill Ayers debacle. The whole point with Bill Ayers, other than this was already debunked in the primaries, is that Ayers and Obama were on an action board together in the 90s. They had no formal relationship, friends or business. So the McCain campaign (with Palin leading the charge) is condemning Obama for being on the same board and some of their supporters have taken the leap of faith and now consider Obama a terrorist. That would be like you are I sitting on a board with a known pedophile and someone branding us a pedophile because of that.
You obviously did not watch the debate last night as McCain did go after Obama for what the Democrats did or didn't do in the 90s.
I always find it interesting though when finger pointing starts. McCain and his fellow Republicans are acting like they couldn't do anything against the big bad Democrats. That's patently untrue they can vote, they could have voted, they didn't.
I am also enjoying the argument now that the reason Obama is winning is because people are afraid to go after him on issues for fear of being labled a racist. This is nothing more than a red herring, and excuse. The real reason they are not going after Obama on the issues is because they can't. They have no real argument against any of his policies, so they go after his character.
McCain went to Washington to lead on the financial crisis, Obama had to be asked by the President. McCain wanted to postpone the first debate to deal with senate business, Obama refused.
McCain has not yet made the point that our financial problems were caused by the Democratic regulations written to force banks to loan to people regardless of their ability to repay because to speak out against that regulation would be perceived as racist, even though it is NOT. Palin can't even mention Bill Ayers without being accused of racism...even though Ayers is white.
The Republicans have not hammered the point that they tried to pass legislation restricting these hazardous loans several years ago, but were blocked by the Democrats, again on charges that refusing to loan to those that cannot repay is "racist." I guess only minorities over-borrow, at least in the eyes of our media and Democratic politicians.
I'm far more disappointed by the insults, untruths and half-truths spouted by our Democratic politicians than by anything some anonymous audience member could possibly say.
