What Party Dis-Unity?

Posted Monday, August 25, 2008, at 8:39 PM

As I'm sure we have all heard in the last few months, the media is absolutely swimming in the idea that there is some dis-unity in the Democratic Party (yes Democratic, there is no such thing as the Democrat Party) between Obama and Clinton. I personally think this is a bunch of hog wash. It's even gotten to the point that some media outlets (Fox News) has been holding a literal parade of supposed Clinton supporters who now say they are going to vote for McCain.

I don't know about you but that idea is laughable at best. Anyone who has followed politics at all in the past twenty years knows that anyone who was a TRUE Clinton supporter would never in thier most dilussional state not only not vote for a Democrat, but would totally switch ideaologies and vote for McCain. The two have not a single issue that they agree on. The only similarity is campaign finance. But for all the campaign finance bills that McCain has authored or co-authored he has never voted in the affirmative to pass any of those bills.

As I sit here watching the Democratic Convention (and before the boobirds come out in force yes I will be watching the Republican Convention) I do not see the fight between the delegates that the media has promised us. All I see are Democrats united in putting a true person for change in the White House, instead of someone who WILL continue George Bush's disastrous legacy. We, as Democrats, want somone who will change the country for the better, not someone who answers all questions into their past by saying that it doesn't matter what happened in his past because he was a POW. Don't get me wrong, John McCain is and will always be a hero. He went through for years what no human should ever have to go through.

But, four years ago, a candidate for president was called a liar and traitor who had won purple hearts in the same war. There comes a point though when military standing needs to be honored instead of being used as a crutch because the candidate can't come up with an answer to a question.

One final note and I know I will be greatly criticized but I have to put this question out there and if I were to ever come face to face with Senator McCain I would pose the question directly to him and that question is: "How can someone like John McCain, who was a POW, who was tortured day in and day out for years on end sleep at night knowing that he has endorsed the form of torture that our governmnet now endorses (including water boarding and if you are one of those who believe water boarding is NOT torture, I challenge you to go through five minutes of it and then tell me it is NOT)."

I'm sorry I had to pause to watch Ted Kennedy's return to the public spotlight and any Democrat watching with me right now knows how important this man is to our party and realize just how close we came to losing him. Seeing him tonight is just amazing. He looks incredible, he does not look like the man who was inches from death a few months ago. Also, I realized while watching this that part of my blog had gotten off the topic of my blog. For that I apologize, not for what I said, but for inluding it in this blog.

The next four days are going to be incredible, culminating with Barack Obama's acceptance speech at Mile High Stadium. The Democratic Party IS united and we have our sights set on the presidency.

Once again I see you are having problems seeing the forest through the trees. Only a quick look at your candidates resume (which the MSN has selected for you) and any level headed true democrat can see the problems with your candidate. Loyalty is one thing, but a true democrat will place the good of America over loyalty to a party that has been taken over by the extreme left wing crazy's. GO HILLARY!

The former president (clinton), speaking in Denver, posed a hypothetical question in which he seemed to suggest that that the Democratic Party was making a mistake in choosing Obama as its presidential nominee.

He said: "Suppose you're a voter, and you've got candidate X and candidate Y. Candidate X agrees with you on everything, but you don't think that candidate can deliver on anything at all. Candidate Y you agree with on about half the issues, but he can deliver. Which candidate are you going to vote for?"

Ha, ha, ha Mike. You bought him. You own him.

He's all yours. How are you enjoying your purchase?

Are you satisfied with the product? Are you satisfied with the customer service?

Would you order from this outfit again?

If so, you still have a chance to order a similar model -- but there are only three days left to place your order.

This is what I truly love. Two people in a row somehow think I am disgusted that Obama is my candidate. They are SOO confident now that Obama is a truly terrible candidate that I would want to change to Hillary.

WRONG!!!

I voted for Barack Obama. He is the better candidate. Period.

THE MSN DID NOT SELECT OBAMA FOR ME, I DID.

The only people who seem to think that there is some sort of problem here are the MSN and the right. If Democrats truly did not want Obama then why did 50% of primary voters choose him? WOW I'm glad the MSN made this decision.

Let's look at the candidate on the other side, John McCain. He was for woman's right to choose before he was against it. He was against torture before he was against it. He was against Bush's taxes before he was for it. He was for finance reform before he was against it. Republicans made a huge deal in 2004 about John Kerry flip flopping on one issue and now they have a candidate that apparently has never met a side of an issue he didn't like. I hear all the time that McCain speaks his mind. I don't think he does I think he speals his mind when it's convienient to his political moment.

I am confident in Barack Obama. I don't want to trade him. He is an excellent candidate and any true Democrat should be proud of this choice. I made my decision in 2004 that if Obama ever ran for president I would support him and I see no reason what so ever to change that now.

One more point. The thing that I have noticed most about those who are against Obama whether they be Clinton or McCain supporters. They never offer anything against the man. They will attack him personally until they are blue in the face, but they never offer anything against his policies.

My theory is that they can't attack his policies. It is the tried and true method in politics when you can't go after the policies go after the person and make it as nasty and personal as you can. And don't stop there go after his family as well. Make up stories, like a recent ad that just came out has. In this ad they actually claim that Obama supports the terrorists. No facts behind their claims of course. There was the whole Muslim thing which is just shocking that still today 14 percent of people still think he is Muslim. They claim he can't run for president because he didn't live in this country long enough after he was born, nevermind the fact that the law clearly states that if you are born on US soil you are a US citizen. I could go on and on and on about the falsities about Barack but my favorite one is that "Barack can't be president because his middle name is Hussein". It's funny that even to this day fear tactics still work.

My god you made your decision in 2004! You really are losing it! The only notable thing he did in 04 was a signal speech at the democratic convention! I sure hope there are more voters out there that actually look at the issues instead of BLINDLY picking a candidate that has absolutely NO experience. Mike I like you, but please spend a little more time looking at the issues, looking at the man. Emotions are a powerful thing, but a sign of maturity is looking beyond the glitter, and seeing the truth. YOU HAVE SO MUCH TO LEARN.

-- Posted by remington81 on Wed, Aug 27, 2008, at 7:17 AM

And the attacks keep on coming. I didn't pick Obama on emotion. Every candidate that has ever ran for any elected office has started with no experience. But Obama did have experience in 2004 he had been an Illinois congressman and he now has even more experience. Oddly enough I don't remember anywhere in the Constitution that stated in order to run for president you had to have experience.

I trust in Obama and I believe his ideas are the correct path to get this country back on the right track for the future. We've had to endure 8 years of failed policy after failed policy and I am not going to vote for a man who has promised to continue those failed policies.

Another sign of maturity is when a candidate is asked a specific question he actually answers instead of telling us, yet again, about the time he was a POW.

By the way, anyone who still thinks that there is dis unity in the Democratic Party either wasn't watching Hillary last night or just blindly listens to what the media tells you.

keep dreaming.

So tell me, sense I missed this circus of clowns, did they have to use a fork lift to get Ted Kennedy on stage?

-- Posted by Keda46 on Thu, Aug 28, 2008, at 12:53 AM

No, they just gave him a couple of stiff drinks.

On another note:

Barack Obama can't pick his family, but he can pick his friends: Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Father Pfleger, Tony Rezko…

And we're supposed to trust his judgment?

-- Posted by remington81 on Thu, Aug 28, 2008, at 7:42 AM

Okay I just have the say this the comments made by Keda46 and remington81 about Ted Kennedy were completely disgusting and disrespectful. The man is dying from brain cancer and was warned by his doctors not to even go. The mere fact that he did show up was a testament to this man.

But I guess I shouldn't be suprised by the drive by attacks that have permeated through this country for the last eight years. I should say the two of you should be ashamed of yourselves but I know you aren't. You probably had a good little laugh at the expense of a dying man and sadly in today's society a good little laugh is all that matters.

As for trusting Obama's judgement based on the company he keeps can we really trust the judgement of a man (McCain) whose campaign is run by Washington lobbyists or the fact that not only did he accept the support but sought out the support of two preachers who one said the people of New Orleans deserved what they got from Hurricane Katrina and the other said America got what it deserved in 9/11?

Sorry, I'll pick Obama everytime.

Truly disgusting behavior guys. Hope you are proud of yourselves.

Mike, all of us are dying, but apparently you don't know about a young lady (Mary Jo Kopechne) that has already died (other would say killed). She was a passenger in a car with Ted Kennedy when he drove off a bridge (drunk) into a canal. And instead of reporting the accident he went back to his cottage and didn't report anything till the next day.

Investigators Report:

"Farrar thrust himself through the open window and into the car. Looking up, he found the body of a young woman. Her head was cocked back, her face pressed into the footwell. Both hands gripped the front edge of the back seat to hold herself in conformity with its upholstered contours. It was not the position assumed by a person knocked unconscious by the impact of a crash, Farrar said. "If she had been dead or unconscious, she would have been prone, sinking to the bottom or floating on top. She definitely was holding herself in a position to avail herself of the last remaining air that had to be trapped in the car.

Ya, I would love to give this coward a "testament"

So McCain has been hammering Obama for not being ready to be Commander-in-Chief because he was inexperienced (same thing they said about Clinton by the way) and he turns around and taps someone as his VP, that could become president if something happens to McCain, who has been in politics for two years.

Interesting pick though, we'll find out in the coming weeks and months whether or not it pays off.
