The Attempted Re-inventing of Barack Obama

Posted Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at 4:50 PM

So much has been made about Barack Obama and who he is. There is so much information out there and so much of it is patently false, to the point that the Barack Obama campaign has had to create a site at www.fightthesmears.com to dispel these rumors. I, myself, will try to even go further in dispelling these lies but it is up to the voter him or herself to investigate this information. It's not enough to simply watch the news and try to get the true information from a report. Let's face it all the news organizations are biased both left and right and for any news organization to claim that they aren't are just lieing.

But ... I digress.

My mother sent me an email this morning regarding Barack Obama and asked me if it was true or just hype. I read through it and immediately saw it for what it was, another attempt to portray Obama as un-American. The report came from The Hoover Institute and in this article they proclaim that Barack can NOT run for President because he is not a United States citizen because his father was a foreigner and his mother, even though being in the country for 10 years, was not eligible to be a United States citizen until she was 21. Unfortunately for the writer of this article, his mother was born and lived in the United States, so that right there throws out the argument. But let's say for a second that the article was correct on his mom one only needs to look at Title 8 of the U.S. Code, which states in one of the first line that anyone born in the United States IS a citizen of the United States (source: http://www.usconstitution.net/consttop_c.... The way the code is setup is similar to the way getting a job is. When you go in for the interview or the first day of the job you are required to have a driver's license, if you don't have that there is a list of ids that can be used. With the code, if you are born in the United States it doesn't matter if your parents are citizens, you are considered a United States citizen. If you aren't born in the U.S. then you go down the list. So the article is patently false.

Another part of the article that I found absolutely silly was the notion that the Clinton campaign KNEW about this and kept quiet. Now, for anyone who has even glimpsed at the election to this point knows that if any of this was true and the CLINTON'S knew about it they would have released it AS SOON as it came out.

Some other items of note in the continuing smear of Barack Obama. I've already touched on the whole muslim thing in another blog and I'm not going to take up space in this blog talking about it again. If you STILL to this day believe that Barack Obama is a Muslim there is nothing I can say, he can say, or anyone can say to change your mind and I'm sorry but that is just ignorance, and even if he was, WHO CARES! This is the United States of America where you are free to worship as you see fit.

One item that got a lot of press attention and was, once again, patently false is that Barack Obama refuses to place his hand over his heart for the Pledge of Alliegence, or even say the pledge. If you go to www.fightthesmears.com you can watch video of him not only reciting the pledge but clearly see his hand over his heart. The actual truth is that he won't put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem. This is something his grandfather, who served in WW2, raised him to do. Stand at attention for the Anthem, put your hand over your heart for the pledge. But with the anthem it is not uncommon for people not to put their hand over their heart. While there are guidelines on how to salute the pledge there are NO guidelines for the Anthem, it basically comes down to how you were raised. The pledge is something to be reveered, the anthem, though beutiful is a song.

One final item is this American flag pin debacle. A lot of news organizations went haywire when it became apparent that Obama did not wear a flag lapel pin. President Bush was outraged, Senator McCain was outraged, several high ranking Republicans were outraged that he dare go out in public with out a flag lapel pin on. Unfortunately, when they were all shaking so violently at this un-American act, not a single one of them were wearing lapel pins with an American flag on. Hypocrisy at it's finest.

One more final note on politics, several groups have come out since Hillary Clinton lost her campaign for the nomination that supposedly voted for her and said that if there wasn't an uprise at the Democratic Convention to give Hillary the nomination they would vote for McCain. Everytime I hear this I laugh and Hillary has even made a comment about this. IF you voted for Hillary in the primary and were sincerely voting for her, you would not vote for McCain in the fall. McCain and Clinton are about as opposite in political ideology as you can get.

Oh and by the way, it is called the Democratic Party and those in the party are Democrats. It is not the Democrat Party. There has never been a Democrat Party in this country's history

Anyways, that's all for now. Enjoy your day

Beauty and Truth are in the eye of the 'beholder,' not, neccessarily, the eye of the 'bolder.'

This election process seems to be so full of 'truth twisting,' (not exactly lying) who can say if eigther candidate is even a human being.

I did see Senetor O'bama's lapel pin (flag) shining brightly in the Jordanian sun, today. Hmmmm, a candidate, almost acting as if he is already President. Now that will sets wrong with me.

We will see the proof in the pudding, in short enough order.

Well it just goes along with the old adage, Obama is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

Just thought I would while I was surfing the web that Snopes.com has also already debunked the email I referred to above.

Check it out for yourself:
