The Shredding of the Constitution

Posted Sunday, July 13, 2008, at 3:51 PM

Over the past 8 years we in this country have been witness to an almost complete destruction of the Constitution.

-Amendment 1 gives us the freedom of religion. Deeper in depth on that it goes on to prohibit the government from establishing a national religion. This country is roughly 95% Christian, but in the last eight years it has almost become unlawful to be anything but Christian. A large percentage of voters in this country will not vote for Barack Obama because they believe him to be Muslim. He's not though, he is Christian, but this fact has become almost a myth because of emails and Fox News continually promoting as FACT that he is Muslim.

When the Pilgrims settled in what was to become America, they came here to specifically escape the religious hierarchy in England that had outlawed their belief systems. More that 350 years later it is happening again in the supposed freest of nations.

-Amendment 2 has largely been untouched in the last eight years. You can't (or shouldn't) have your own beliefs but you better believe you should have a gun to protect those rights.

-Starting from the 4th Amendment and continuing through the 8th Amendment is where we have seen the greatest destruction of the Constitution. Throughout this country's history one thing has always been paramount and that is the justice system. But over the last eight years we have lost right after right when it comes to court trials. Now, they say that we have really only lost these rights when it comes to foreign relations, but there is nothing in any of these new laws that prohibit this government from going after our own people.

We have lost the right to a speedy and fair trial, We have lost Habeus Corpus, we have lost right to representation,

But this last week, with the help of a very weak Congress controlled by DEMOCRATS big businesses were essentially promised potection if they help the government spy on us. If you don't know Congress gift-handed to major phone companies amnesty from being held accountable for allowin the government from looking through YOUR phone records to see if anything illegal is going on. Apparently they don't even need a warrant anymore or reasonable cause. They can just check through your phone records at any point.

The argument is that we should all be willing to give up some rights in order for our government to protect us, but that is a simplistic and unrealistic ideal. The fact remains that the more rights we let the government take from us so that they can "protect" us the worse off we are.

The government has told us since 9/11 that terrorists hate us for our freedoms and would stop at nothing to take those freedoms away.

Thanks to the Bush Administration, a weak Congress, and a subservient electoric, we have given those very freedoms we cherish so much away willingly. The terrorists haven't won, we have given up.

But, with this coming election, we have a chance to restore the Constitution to it's full splendor. I have made my decision, I hope you will join with me.

I could be wrong, but, isn't it the Muslims that say something like: Every male child born of a Muslim father is Muslim for life, and if that child converts to any other faith, that child is subject to death? Senator Obama, no matter his faith, may well be in trouble with Islam. I do not envy him, or any other the job of President, not with all the expert judges, in the constituency.

I'm not sure of your decision. Is it to vote Independent, Liberal, Conservative, or not at all? I missed something, sorry.

I am voting Liberal and you missed nothing because I did not say which way I was voting only that I had made my choice which way to vote

Barack's father was Muslim. His mother was Christian. His father left the family and he has always been Christian. Muslim's may believe that quote, but that is the fanatical side of the belief. It actually does not appear in the Qu'ran. In fact, in the Qu'ran the female is to be revealed, it is only the fanatical reach of the religion that has made females subservient.

I do find it interesting, though, that through all of that which I wrote about the Constitution you picked on the small section on Barack Obama.

Possibly because the point at which our country is at is making even conservatives realize how much trouble we are getting ourselves into?
