I LIED....

Posted Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at 4:02 PM

Last week, I said I was going to talk about the excellent board game Settlers of Catan. My every attention was focused on doing this, but as I was writing it, I decided it was best to start up a game and well, I stopped writing and never came back. Thus, I never did finish my grand review of Settlers of Catan.

As sad as that is, I still plan on finishing it, but probably next week. From there, I transition into another gaming topic, the impending release of Resident Evil 5 for XBOX360 and PS3. Game On will have this game available on Thursday at Midnight which is the first time this game can be sold. I have had a chance to demo the game and loved it.

Resident Evil 5 is the newest expansion to the popular video game franchise of the same name. From its beginnings, Resident Evil has always been about survival horror gameplay and does it's best to bring that same gameplay to the newest generation of consoles. A big task as they've decided to bring the game outside in the sunlight. So, the question is, how do you make a horror game that is known for making you jump in your seat as you play - do that in broad daylight?

I don't know. I haven't played enough of the game to get a good feel for it, but so far - soooooooo good. There is a lot of extreme anticipation for this game as it has gotten some really high remarks from critics inside the industry. So, the real question is, where are all the Resident Evil fans and what are your thoughts on the new game before the release date? Feel free to post your thoughts and opinions in the comments and make sure you come back after you've had a chance to play the game and let us know if your opinion has changed or not.

Look forward to hearing from you.

I've never played a Resident Evil game, aside from the demo for 5. Horror in general doesn't interest me much, let alone in games. That said, the game does look rather good from the demo. I died rather easily due to not being used to their version of "he-she-it person" shooting gameplay. Might give it a few more tries, though I doubt this will be anything more than a rental for me.

I do appreciate that the main game has co-op play. I don't know if it's just online or offline as well, but co-op tends to make things more enjoyable, if not easier.

Never was much of a RE fan..back when it was on PS1 even. Then again I'm not much for the shooting zombie style games. I mean it's good, but nothing I get wrapped up in. I have played this game and it is good, very good, but just not my style of game. If you've liked any of the other RE's I highly recommend it.
