Gaming - Halo WarsPosted Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at 3:03 PM
The Gaming Blog
What can I say? I started out writing the Amazing Blog as something to bring a bit of different entertainment to the Gazette's website, however, I never really found time to search the internet for weird or amazing stories and the Amazing Blog died. It it's place, the Gaming Blog has been born. It is here where I will talk about all things related to gaming including some more sports related items like disc golf. Mainly, I will be covering Board Games, Card Games, and Video Games since I have access to all those things being the owner of Game On in McCook. I'll also be asking for help - for instance, I'm not a big fan of bowling, but I'd like to do a piece on the different places to bowl in Southwest Nebraska and the advantages to all the different places. Anybody interested on giving me some pointers on that? Where should I go? Who should I take with me? What should I look for?
So - for our first blog piece, I'm keeping it simple. I'm not going to be reviewing any games or suggesting a board game for your family night, but rather asking for your opinions on a new game. Recently, Microsoft released Halo Wars for the XBOX360 console. The game is a huge departure from the game play of the original Halo games and is a risk to the Halo franchise. It came out yesterday and is so far, selling very well across all markets, but some argue it's not quite a hit game yet. Have you played it? What are your thoughts?
Well, that's it for the first one - come back next time for an in-depth look at the extremely popular board game, Settlers of Catan. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |
A blog devoted to all forms of gaming - mostly the non-sports related, however, we will throw in some sports every once in awhile.

I'm afraid I can't help with this one. I've never been terribly interested in Halo or in real-time strategy games; the former is due to a lack of an XBox to constantly play until a few months ago and a general neutralness to first-person shooters in general, and the latter is due to...bad micromanagement skills. That said, it's kinda neat to see Halo branching out and becoming a Mario-esque franchise for Microsoft. I'm glad to hear that it's doing well, even if it did rip off Star Wars' name.
Erp, sorry for the double post. Glad to see you finally got a gaming blog.
